She is one of the biggest Queens and most long lasting Russian rullers- a stranger to Russian court, married to a cousin king who was not loved by Russian people ,she had not interesting childhood and managed to get married to Russian king due to her royal relations from her mothers side , her family was not really rich .

Ctherine first met her future husdband when she was just 10 years old,and found him ''disgusting'' , ''childish'' and dislike his love twords alcohol at such young age.

Her mother is described as cold, manipulative, abusive woman who enjoyed court gossip. Empress Elizabeth banned her from Russia, and even though she disliked Catherines mother she loved Catherine, because has shown great interest in Russia, its people, traditions and language (something not even her future husdband, the succesor to the throne of Russia was not fond of)

Before formal bethrothal to her future husdband, Catherine decided to convert to Ortodox faith ,her father disliked it,but she didnt care, she wanted to be seen as Russian, and being Ortodox Christian was part of Russian identity . She changed her name from Sophie Friederike Auguste von Anhalt-Zerbst-Dornburg to Russian name Yekaterina Alexeyevna.

She and her husdband both had lovers on the sids, she had quite a number of them .

She is speculated to be the one that has assasinated her husdband - either way,no one liked him so no one really cared, they had a queen that made country huge, that respected and loved it , better than week king who has no respect and gets none in return.

Here is her natal chart http://www.astrotheme.com/astrology/Catherine_the_Great

First thing i notice is marrige out of interest - 7th in Leo (a king) with its ruler in Taurus in second .
what do you see,do you see the indication of her grateness in her chart???

I wish it were easier to be certain of her date/time of birth, though.

I generally don't trust Astrotheme.

I feel like something is missing there...for example i dont see her as aqua rising atall, but the saturn in 1st house makes so much sense, she was so serious at age 10 to be annoyed by a boy playing with toys, and noticing how he is too young to drink

She is a fascinating character. Before I check out her chart, those are the things I expect to see:

Strong nodes contact and strong Sun and Mars

Strong Saturnian placements.

Strong Plutonian Placements.

Moon in a very masculine sign.

Her moon conjuncts her venus and is in Gemini - she does not bring us Gemini venuses any brake on the ''Venus in Gemini cheater'' thing xD

She was also very sensual and philosophical, don't forget.

I might expect to see something like Saturn/Sun conjunct MC in Taurus, for sensuality as well as drive;

Perhaps a full-ish H9 as well?

I didn't really look at her Astrotheme chart.

Although Taurus Sun/Mars conjunct in H2, along with Uranus in H8, and MC in Sag would also work, now that I look at her chart.

She also tried to be magnanimous whenever possible, from what I have read...until she felt that she had to be harsher with her rule. Jupiter in Cancer would indicate compassion, I think.

Edit.
I've also never seen any films or read any type of biographies about her. I'm only recalling what I gleaned in school.

ADB gives the sources behind the 2:30 time:

quote:

Mark Johnson quotes the biography, "Memoirs" (edited by Anthony, London Knoppf 1927) "in the morning at half past two o'clock." (April 21 OS).
(An LAT correction is minus 3'21" but Martin Harvey in Nativitas shows a map for 2:30 AM LMT).
Sy Scholfield quotes Katharine Susan Anthony (translator & editor)'s book, "Memoirs of Catherine the Great" (Tudor, 1935), p. 71: "Prince Christian August writes from Stettin to the reigning Prince at Zerbst, May 2, 1729, that 'this morning at half past two o'clock' his wife was delivered of a Princess-daughter, and that she is to be baptized the 'day after tomorrow.'"

Wikipedia gives her date of death as 17 November 1796.

Chartwise, one of the most interesting things is that Moon was 27N30, not only conjunct, but closely parallel Venus 27N32. This close aspect had a strong affect on her personality, charm, and even physical characteristics.

While I also am somewhat skeptical about Aquarius rising for her, there is a chance in my view that the correct Asc is found a within a few degrees (previous) to the one indicated, which would put the Asc Contra-parallel Pluto [12N49] and square Uranus, or a bit further back so to create a tight Contra-parallel to Mars. With strong fixity, I normally expect to see it more evident in pictures which instead show an almond-shaped tapering face more indicative of Cap or Sag (or cardinal/mutable factors). So it is more likely she was a Cap riser.
