What kind of placements might indicate this? By non main stream, I also mean pioneers. In order for new ideas to emerge, one must delve into the unknown, into the typically unnoticed and not so thought about ideas and experiences. Whereas most people seem to sit in the "main stream" flow of life - I have nothing against this, however. In fact, either can't live with out the other. The pioneer seeks new ideas, and the main stream stabilizes those ideas... once accepted (A very Taurus/Scorpio & Gemini/Sag type of situation). Perhaps the nodes are also involved. There also always seems to be less pioneers versus those who are main stream. It seems life prefers main stream minded people (Stubborn Taurus energy), but craves change (Scorpio)

Anyone wish to share their thoughts...?

No quoting...!

Uranus is the quintissential pioneer... In aspect to other outer planets it has signified huge momentum and shifts in terms of the collective consciousness, technology, popular thought, etc. It is willing to think outside the box and act on it. It is often prominent in the charts of intellectuals and inventors who were considered crazy and yet who introduced essential new paradigms of thought which are now well known and widely accepted. It's very interesting to reflect on the astral conditions which stabilize such new paradigms, as you are doing.

Interestingly Aquarius is actually a fixed sign and is ruled by Uranus, which gives us a clue in this regard; the truths that Uranus imparts can't help but be accepted because in a way they were always true/always there.. just waiting to be revealed. The fixity of Aquarius speaks to that. It's interesting to reflect on the Aqua/Leo/Taurus/Scorpio grand cross of signs for this reason... the fixed signs are about things which have staying power as well as profound change ... you know they say that change is the only constant after all...

When Aquarius is highlighted in a chart, and/or the 11th house by rulership or otherwise, as well as Uranus, it can indicate a passion who is more than willing to buck tradition and do things how they feel is right. I have a lot of Aquarius Moons in my life and they are generally willing to think and act waaay outside the box. I have Aquarius on my IC and the weird and unusual and avante-garde is like the air i breathe and the primordial ooze i rose from; my mom and my daughter both have Aqua moons.

It's been said that Aquarius thinks and lives as if they are 100 years in the future... the rest of society is still catching up.

In terms of planetary aspects, Uranus-Saturn in a natal chart as a conjunction can indicate a person who is committed to progress and will feel as if they are doing their duty if that which is done advances the agenda in some way; they're looking to break the mold somehow, this is part of their prerogative on earth and they usually know it. It could be in diverse fields, the rest of the chart will show that.

I would really recommend reading the book "Cosmos and Psyche" for more specific examples of the historical stuff i referenced above. I'm not much of a historian so i can't give the exact details but it's very cool.

What would you make of Uranus opposite Saturn?

To me, Aries is the ultimate pioneer and Taurus is the ultimate mainstream zodiac sign.

I would also throw in Pisces and sag. Especially combined together or with aqua/uranus.
As not mainstream I mean.
