For example, if someone has Moon trine Venus, but also has Moon square Saturn, (and they both have the same orb) then will this person feel both of these aspects precisely, or can the harmonious component of Moon trine Venus help ease the harshness of Moon square Saturn? Or is it the other way where the harshness of Moon square Saturn makes the expression of Moon trine Venus more difficult? If so, to what extent?

And yeah I know that the signs involved matter too but just for the sake of simplicity I didn't add the signs.

I'm not sure if 'cancel' was the best way to word this question but I couldn't find a better word.

No. Aspects of an apparently differing dynamic can provide a basis for balance, but aspects are additive in nature.

In your example, the person feels and lives both aspects. The Moon square Saturn aspect is a stronger one, so the person's tendency in expressing affection will be held closer to the chest, and when given will be considered more indicative of longer-held feelings rather than spontaneous ones.

Is my memory correct that you once said that aspects to slower moving planets are stronger aspects, generally? Especially an applying aspect.
Because they move slower that they hold the aspect for a longer period of time, or something of that nature.

In transits and progressions, yes. And because of the closeness of a natal aspect a situation can occasionally be set up for what the Magi Society has termed a perpetual progression. I don't use their orbs, but the term does occasionally apply.

So theyre more cumulative so it's just best to look at each one by one? thanks

I don't think you can just get rid of aspects. But, maybe looking at the orbs could help show you which one would be more "influential" or prominent. An exact moon trine Venus aspect might have more significance than a Moon square Saturn aspect that's 5°.

@aquagembaby: I know what you mean and I get what you are trying to say. I think aspects don't cancel each other out or stop & start. I think they try to work together and cooperate (even when it seems impossible).
Ironically I have both natal Moon trine Venus and Moon square Saturn. I actually have a couple of pleasurable aspects to my moon with the exception of Moon square Saturn. Keep in mind that I have Scorpio moon (YAY, rolls eyes). Sometimes I have felt that way. That Moon square Saturn just comes in and ***** with my other aspects and calls the shots. While my Scorpio moon is just laughing diabolically in the corner. But what can I do except work with what I have.
Conflicting aspects are just like a conversation. You talk they talk back. Sometimes it disagrees and argue. Sometimes they agree. Sometimes it fun/interesting, and entertaining. Sometimes it dull/boring, and tragic.
I would say some aspects are more impactful/urgent and deserves more focus/attention than others. I am not saying that they are more important but it just feels that way. And when we feel things are more important than others we tend to focus on that while ignoring the less important things. Is this what you mean?
Especially the way the world works, where negativity is given more acknowledgement/focus than positivity. Moon trine Venus feels like a hug or kiss. Fleeting, nice, pleasant, and easy. While Moon square Saturn feels like a punch in the gut. Long-lasting, bad, painful, and hard.
Trines aspects are “easy” aspects we don’t stress about these aspects because we know we are covered. We often take trines for granted.
Squares are the hard aspects so we stress, ***** , moan, and complain because we don’t know what to do and how to handle this challenge. We don’t take squares for granted because this is where we fight, slaved, bled, and cry from.
Squares makes us stronger and trines love us even if we have “forgotten” about them.
Whatever the case astrology is much about free will as it is about fate. Ok I have these aspects. I am sure you have conflicting aspects that seem to overshadow your more easy aspects. But you know what they both contribute in their own way. Just gotta think of it like that.

Thank you for posting this.
I wonder as well about conjunct planets, I have the big ones conjuncting - can the Sun minigate the powers of the Moon and Venus? I have them all tightly together in my second house.

The common planet between Saturn and Venus is the Moon. So should one then not conclude that they have a relationship by default because of their mutual aspect to the Moon?

So in this case, Saturn (being the slower moving planet) also influences Venus?

Thank you that cleared it up a bit. Well I was wondering when dealing with multiple aspects to one specific planet (for example, someone with two or more aspects to their Moon), I was confused as to where to put the focus on. But I guess you just have to take them all in consideration like you said, and certain aspects will grab your attention more, especially during specific conditions.

**Edit**: And is it safe to say that aspects between personal and outer planets tend to show stronger in our lives?

For example, I know someone that has over 7 different planets/asteroids aspecting their Moon and even after considering orbs, it's a challenge to understand how to incorporate so many energies.

that's a possibility but to what degree will Saturn influence Venus? So then the person will have traits of Moon trine Venus with a Saturnian vibe?

That's a good question possibly a good topic for another thread. I usually read 3 or more planets conjunct as a stellium. and those are just a concentration of energy towards that particular sign and house. So if they're in your 2H then activities of the 2H would be a theme in your life.

Saturn will obstruct Venus- in much the same way that it would when it forms a natural aspect with it.

My friend(Venus)and I(Moon) agree to go out and have fun.We get along effortlessly (trine).

But my mother(Saturn) who doesn't seem to "get" me(square) says that I can't go out on a school night.

As a result, I end up calling my fiend (Venus) to relay the bad news. And because she understands me(trine) and was looking forward to going out, she feels just as fenced in as I am by having to cancel and stay indoors(square).

Perhaps my mother(Saturn)is not there to tell her that she can't go out. But she feels "blocked"(square)as if my mother (Saturn) was physically there telling her the same thing i.e "you can't go out on a school night" etc.

I see but in the same way, can Venus be 'beneficial' to Saturn? Or does Saturn only have stronger influence b/c of the stressful nature of the square?

The slower moving planet has influence on the faster noving one. And not so much the other way around.

So the indirect influence of Saturn on Venus will be that of one who tends to hold back or limit the things related to Venus and opting to push them down their list of priorities.

The positive is that you dont do the whole fall in and out love thing spontaneously. The not so great news is that it can definitely bring feelings of disconnect, even when in a relationship

I do not think aspects cancel out any other aspect... they can add color, they can reinforce a pattern or they can contradict an aspect, but they dont cancel the aspect..

what happens, when there are conflicting themes in the chart, people tend to split. they own certain themes in the chart (because of culture, education, etc) and they project the other themes... however, nothing cancel out. they may go repressed and emerge when transit touch one of these points, aspects, etc, or they come over and over through the relationships in your life..
