I am just very uncomfortable with the way I am perceived, I feel like there is a disconnect between my actual identity and the identity people assume I have and a lot of times, it makes me uncomfortable and stressed out.

I am a Sun & Moon in Libra (both conjunct), but they both square my Ascendant (Capricorn).

I figured that with me having a double dose of one sign, some people may spot out my Libra qualities on first meeting. Can your Sun and Moon dominate your rising sign?

I also have Neptune closely touching my Ascendant, so I might confuse people with who I really am.

Have any of you experienced something like this? Sun and Moon work well together, but doesn't go with your rising?

Annoying, isn't it?

I'm the same as you- Cappy Asc with Neptune closely conjuncting it (plus Uranus). I have a Leo sun and a Gemini Moon, both quincunxing the AC but sextiling one another. I don't know how the square feels, but I do get the disconnect of energy. What's irritating in the long run is attracting sun/moon signs that are not compatible with my own.

That being said, the Ascendant is a part of you and is definitely more than just a mask. We don't 'feel like our ascendant' because we're not supposed to feel like it. The Ascendant is not the feeling principle, that's the moon.
I've always thought of it like an antenna that we use to navigate the world. It determines the signals we put out and also what comes back in. As Aries and the Ascendant/1st house are the same Archetypes, I can see it as a 'headfirst' kind of approach as well (horns of the ram facing outward)-in that respect it can also be our defence mechanism.
I see it as a lot more complicated than most people give it credit for though. Seems to have a lot to do with instinct, or self, prior to self conceptualisation...
I once heard that the sun is the Conscious, the Moon the unconscious and the Ascendant the sub-conscious. Or something like that...
Either way it's definitely a fragment of 'self'.

Neptune there makes us an energetic sponge. And also the target of everyone else's projections. We tend to mirror everyone around us without really being aware of it, so there can be a feeling of people 'never really seeing us clearly'. It's possible that this is what is frustrating you the most. ??

I will say though, yes, the disconnect or friction of energy between the signs can be a problem. I try to act like a Leo/Gem and it just comes out...wrong. Really weird-like, haha. People have always told me what I look like (Capricorn), and it's a major contrast between how I see myself (moon-Gem) and what I want to be (sun-Leo). Nevertheless, the Ascendant fits like a glove and its the role we find easy to play. Better off learning to work with it instead of against

Yes, I definitely agree with you. And I mostly attract Earth people as well, I feel as if many Air Signs/Fire Signs don't really take the time to get to know me, unless I'm the one who puts in the effort (expressing my Sun and Moon).

I've read somewhere that your Asc describes what type of friends you attract. If you have a Earth rising, you'll attract Earth and Water Suns. I agree with that because I feel like I'm attracted to people with Fire/Air ascendants, I love the energy!

And you're right I DONT feel like my Ascendant at all and at some times I don't relate to the traits of it. For one, I'm not hardworking - I'm actually pretty lazy and laid back if you get to know me. I also try to take the easy way out if it's possible. This doesn't mean that I'm not ambitious because I definitely have goals, I just can be lazy about reaching them (but my Sun/Mars usually helps with that). I'm not serious, I laugh at almost everything and have a strong sense of humor (probably my Jupiter aspects coming into play causes that).

Many people see us Capricorn risings as mean and boring, and I've been told several times by people who have gotten to know me that at first they thought I was mean. My best friend told me that when she first met me, she didn't care for me but when she got to know me she liked me VERY much. Our rising signs clash but our Sun and Moon signs work well together.

And yes, I do try to work with it. Although I'm against my rising sign, I can also appreciate it at times. When I go on an interview for jobs, I get job offers because in the interview I seem so reliable and responsible. The real me (Libra Sun/Moon) comes into play when I'm actually on the job and that's when my supervisors realize that I'm not actually the person they thought I was during the interview. I also appreciate how my Capricorn rising gives me structure, I feel like if I had any other rising sign with my Sun and Moon in Libra, I wouldn't be as successful as I am today. I'm lazy, but my Capricorn rising still gives me that push to achieve something great in life
