Ah, so that explains why my dad will never SHUT UP about how much he hates his job and the people there and all lol. EXPLAINS EVERYTHING
If only he was a Virgo Sun, it would work better with his Virgo Merc and Venus imo.

The point about water is good too. I think both Earth and Water can be good listeners, while Fire and Air are not lol. They are usually spending the time talking.

A lot of my coworkers tell me there problems and all sorts of things and I listen.

But, to be an exceptional listener it depends on my mood and what I filter.

When I'm in a good mood I'm a great listener.

My Pisces best friend does most of the talking, not because she is hogging the conversation, but because she knows I prefer it that way, and she's just nice. She's listening to my need to be quiet, so it's like an oasis or lullabye to me, listening to her go on and on. She's super interesting and can make the most mundane story hilarious and fascinating.

I love talking to the fire and air signs, sometimes you can take the conversation much farther with them because you aren't getting bogged down in emotions and accumulating intuitive impressions. I have Aquarius Mercury and so does my brother. We absolutely fly in conversation, and even though it's all mental, it gives a nice sense of catharsis and forward momentum.

My moon seems to draw out all kinds of things from people. I mean everything: random technical work details, biases, tragedies, ambitions, long-buried memories, their surgeries and pets' surgeries, etc.

I don't know if that makes me a good listener or a bad one, because so often people venture out from their usual conversation habits, and then apologize for what they just said. It's gotten to the point where I can tell someone is suffering in silence, but I won't offer my shoulder to cry on as I used to, because I think they'll regret it later. That's hard for me to do, a tough choice, but it protects me from feeling like a nosey jerk later, and I just cannot stand feeling that way.

Scorpio is a good listener and draws me out of myself. The nice thing about Scorpio is, they know how to stick with you after you say something revealing or controversial, guiding you gently back to normal, like landing a plane and smiling as you disembark. They also know to give you time and space. Their whole tempo is soothing and graceful to me.

If they've already assumed or convinced themselves they know what your going to say next... then the answer is yessss....

Gemini has a way of testing or already knowing your reaction based on observation, so they can be that way if there confident they know what your going to say next.
