What are your thoughts on what to do when your planets change houses in different house systems (for example, the singleton Pisces Jupiter in my pitcher chart changing from 2nd house Placidus to 3rd house in equal/whole sign).......this has HUGE implications looking at house rulerships, figuring out the best ways to work with transits, etc. in a composite, it can shift the focus of the whole chart/relationship, as houses are soooo important to the way many astrologers read a composite.

How do we account for house system variations when reading charts?

I just got a Vedic astrology program and when I first looked at my chart, it was set to some house system I'd never heard of that put my (sidereal) Cancer and (sidereal) Gemini planets all in my 7th house---when I reset it to equal, my sidereal Cancer Sun-Mercury moved into the 8th house.

These are HUGE differences. HUGE.

@Lucia23:

I would do one of two things
1. Ignore it
2. Explore it.

Right now I am ignoring it. I am not dismissing Vedic astrology BUT I don't want to have to confuse/unlearn stuff that I took YEARS learning from Western Astrology. (yuck lol). #AIN'T NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THAT

It's whatever feels right for you. Use your judgement. One thing astrology has taught me is. You make your own ideas/judgements of what the signs, planets, placements, and aspects mean to you. Don't live and define yourself based off of others perspectives/opinions. You know yourself better than any astrology system/astrologer/astrology book out there. Keep in mind their knowledge/wisdom but think for yourself

i often wonder if i'm just sort of using metaphors to spin stories, and it's not connected to anything in reality,--other than the fact that our stories so powerfully shape our reality, and that when we look for explanations in astrology or anything else, our preexisting stories shape our interpretations.

But then I come back around to the fascinating accuracy of some astrological techniques. It's never been a mystery how an eclipse hitting my planets has affected me--the chart always seems to tell a true story about that. I've had someone read my synastry/composite and be more accurate than I was with my heart, brain and intuition. I've learned things about other people just from looking at their charts.

But the house system problem, ignored or explored, is a big problem--i've heard several good astrologers say that both the whole sign and Placidus systems are valid (I'm not an astrologer, but I agree and I use both)---and if that's true, it kind of means the whole thing "works" through metaphor and fancy rather than more concrete/actual systems grounded in any way in the physical world. I just sort of make the story work in my head--the 2nd house Jupiter story or/AND the 3rd house Jupiter story.

It's soooo easy to do this with Western, to make both stories work. I have a feeling it's a lot harder with the more fixed/explicit nature of Vedic.
