What Does Uranus Do In The Natal Chart?

My articles on sexual attraction sparked me to consider Uranus.

Uranus is the planet I like the least.

I will tell you why.

In my opinion, Uranus causes trouble in most conjunctions and all hard aspects—the opposition and square.

I will explain how and why, in detail.

Uranus is the planet of electricity, which includes electrical shock. Uranus is the planet of the erratic, which could include erratic emotions such as very up and down moods or erratic situations, such as a car careening out of control.

Uranus is the planet of insanity. It is, also, the planet of genius.

Uranus in every conjunction is bad, except for Jupiter. Jupiter is good in any conjunction except for Chiron.

For the people who don’t like the use of “good and bad”, stop reading.

Don’t harass me by writing to me and telling me.

Moving on, hence, Uranus will make erratic any planet that it touches in conjunction.

I will list some here.

Uranus conjunct the Moon
Emotions can be erratic. The mother may have been unstable. Relationships with women may be unstable.

Uranus conjunct Venus

It may be hard to commit when in love. It may feel very, very scary, through no fault of the person. The person may, simply, want to run when a relationship gets serious.

Uranus conjunct the Sun

This person may be a genius. However, the price may be tottering on the edge of madness. The father may have been unstable.

Uranus conjunct Jupiter

I have this and I would call it a good aspect. It makes for someone who is open minded. I will consider any idea. I will embrace it, if it makes sense. I think outside the box.

Uranus conjunct Chiron

Pain may make for an erratic nature in the native.

Uranus conjunct Mars

This is one of the worst. The person may be accident prone.

Uranus conjunct Mercury

This may be another of the worst. The person will, likely, be brilliant, but as with the Sun, may totter on the edge of madness.

Uranus conjunct the North Node

The theme of the person’s live may be one of instability.

Uranus in opposition and square is very hard, no matter which planets are involved. I will not go over all of the possibilities. I may have an article on it. I am quite sure I do.

Uranus conjunct the Angles could be good or bad, depending on what else is going on in the chart.

Uranus conjunct the Ascendant makes for a maverick. This can be very good because we need mavericks. However, Uranus conjunct the Ascendant may make for a person who tries so hard to be different that he makes his own prison of isolation from others.

For example, consider the person who goes to a formal party wearing a bikini. It is cool. It is different, but it is TOO different and the person would, likely, be an outcast.

Uranus conjunct the IC would be bad because it would show an unstable childhood.

Uranus conjunct the DSC would, most likely, be bad but maybe not. It could show that the native would choose unstable partners. However, it may show that the native was attracted to mavericks.

Uranus conjunct the MC could be good or bad. The native may be unstable and this could show to the world as in an O.J Simpson or the native may be a maverick as in the Bill Gates.

Uranus in trine and sextile brings out the best of Uranus and makes for genius, without the madness. A genius, by nature, is different from the average man. He must touch dimensions and spheres that we cannot reach. With the trine and the sextile, he can come back unharmed. With the hard aspects, it may not be the case.

Let me give some examples of Uranus trines.

Uranus trine Mercury would be classic for someone like Paul Mc Cartney. It would be classic for the amazing Ali G.

Uranus Trine the Sun would be classic for someone like Donald Trump who is a business genius.

Uranus trine Mars would be classic for an amazing dancer or sports player.

I hope I have helped you to learn to use Uranus in your charts. That was my goal.

Uranus conjunct Mercury in Scorpio

This may be another of the worst. The person will, likely, be brilliant, but as with the Sun, may totter on the edge of madness.

I love Uranus!
(at least if also coming with some harmonious aspects).

Without a little bit of "pushing boundaries/ pushing out of ones comfort zone", a little bit of a jolt there simply would be no change.

Noone changes anything (lest themselves), if everything is stable, smooth, complacent.

And Uranus is one of those initiators of change, delivering the spark to initiate the motor.

(though of course you will need some others to keep the motor running, and into a reasonable direction)

Uranus has always demanded much of me in life, but delivered the change that was absolutely necessary and that was great.

Actually Uranian times have always been "high times" for me. (and surprising in me realizing that I could do things I never thought I could. Without Uranus pushing me there, I would never have learned that about me).

And in synastry`? It`s heaven! Seriously, to me it is. (as long as it comes with some other aspects, of course. Only Uranus would be a very shortlived trip to heaven. He is the spark, not the steady flame)

In particular the best, high flying times were Tr Uranus conjunct n Venus and Tr Uranus conjunct n IC and square n Venus.

Tr Uranus conjunct n Moon was a bit scary at the beginning, but once I let go and just went with the flow, just amazing experiences. Unforgettable.

Tr Uranus conjunct n Jupiter was really cool, too of course. Brought me my job, despite being also square n Mars (this was a little too much however, all those cars whooping at me got on my nerves - yes it IS accident prone) and n ASC.

Solar arc Uranus conjunct n Mars and n ASC brought me the most unlikely encounters and experiences which in time remodeled my whole approach to life (which is a good thing btw. lol)

Tr Uranus square n Saturn was a tad crazy, with Tr Uranus also being conjunct n Chiron, and then also squaring n Vertex and Sun/Moon-mp.
Crazy, sometimes putting my nerves really on edge, but wow, what a ride! I wouldn`t want to miss it from my life. Exciting and deep at the same time.

EDIT
Just for the record
You can keep most Neptune transits. Instead give me Uranus and Pluto, that`ll do much better.

Love your comments, K and ceri.

If my articles spark discussion, I am thrilled.

I am not the last word. I want to learn and to amend, when needed.

I love when people are respectful to each other, so we can have a good vibe here.

Share away but try to be respectful to others.

Thanks!

I have Venus conjunct Uranus in Scorpio. It definitely electrifies my Venus, giving it the energy shine despite maybe not wanting to all the time.

I have been in three long-term, monogamous relationships that have ended because I had enough, but I was able to commit. I love freedom, but respect and expect total loyalty and provide the same.

I just wanted to add that for most marriage charts it is probably not a good idea for stability and peace and calm to have too many Uranus-squares and oppositions, especially to the angles, luminaries or Venus.

Though it depends a lot on the individuals of course.

8 degrees is too wide to really matter too much in the natal, K imo, especially with Mercury and not the Sun and Moon.

Others may disagree

Yes, to a point. I also have Moon square Pluto. That is my strongest moon aspect. They can get out of control too.

I do think Uranus helps with that situation.

Uranus is pretty prominent in my chart. I have a house 4 Capricorn stellium that contains Uranus, Neptune, sun, Saturn, and north node between 10-28 degrees. My Venus dangles in the same house over in Aquarius.

It doesn't really make any close, non-conjunct aspects, except it opposes my MC. EDIT: Of course it is then square my AC also. I cite a prominent Uranus for my frequent relocation, erratic and eccentric childhood, and my ADHD for that matter (although it's not the only thing I cite with that, mercury in Sagittarius with no major aspects certainly contributes).

Not to toot my own horn, but I'm definitely smart, sometimes I do catch glimpses of my mental capacity that are truly surprising and exciting. I make really fantastic jewelry and textile art that have always won others' attention while I was in school, and I've always been complimented on my uniqueness.

But I'm definitely mentally unstable as well. 15 years of living with mental illness undiagnosed was rough alone but now leaves me with major self-esteem issues and a lack of confidence in my abilities. I've read that undiagnosed ADHD in women has a tendency to have PTSD-like symptoms, as the pain of failing to live up to expectation despite abilities for so long becomes traumatic and often that can cause real anger or dissociation for me now.

I like the energy of Uranus. I have a LOT of the ~worst~ placements and aspects in my chart and so instead of feeling frustrated I am very slowly learning how to use it all.

Uranus makes aspects to every single planet in my chart. Also have a Stellium in 11H and an Aqua Vertex. Tightest aspect by 0.02 degrees is a sextile to ASC and Mars.

I love Uranus as long as I get to lead a free life. And by "free" I mean:

Self employment

A relationship (marriage in my case) that keeps the thinking, traveling, conversation and dreaming as open as possible. NOTHING is off limits to me and I'll resent anyone that try to suppress me!

Along with my Pluto squares that constantly force me to transform, Uranus keeps me bright and alert BUT, Uranus has also caused me much grief because I don't always stay aligned with Universe and that has shown to always be very negative for me.

Other aspects include:

Oppositions to SN, Chiron, MC, Jupiter
Squares to Saturn and Venus
Semi squares to Sun and Moon.
Trine Mercury

With an Aquarius Stellium in my chart including Uranus, I'm pretty Uranian to boot

I would cut Uranus some slack here. Of course it may be an erratic planet that can cause serious issues when it goes out of whack (as demonstrated with hard aspects between planets like Mars for example), but you have no idea how many times Uranian energy has saved me from falling into some dreadful accidents. This thing happens with Uranus in which the Uranian-influenced individual will react so quickly to a situation (thanks to Uranus' speed) that they can actually escape situations that could be considered catastrophic with a hitch. For example, if a dish was to fall and hit the ground, the Uranian person might be the first to catch it before it even breaks. However, Uranus acts so quickly that they may not realize what happened and will have to process the situation through their mind a couple of times in order to understand what really happened, since Uranus is that quick. I think what's needed here is some experimentation with the powers of Uranus!

Have you caught onto the predicament I'm in yet?

That is funny you mention this. I have an incredible fast responsiveness. In many situations it surprises me because I didn't even really see it for myself yet. If something, like a plate you said, falls I catch it and I am shocked at myself. Never thought of this might be Uranus influence. I have Uranus in my first house square my Sun, trine my Moon, trine MC and sextile my Venus and Aqua Moon.

I love all planets but Uranus is my mate! In transits especially! It's exhilarating!! I love the rush and feeling of aliveness. Once when T Uranus was trine my Sun I felt so free. I wanted to bike home naked and undo myself from all the oppressiveness.

I have some Uranus in my chart. Overall I would say my life has been nothing but erratic change so far and I'm not much of a fan of change, especially unexpected change. I am accident prone and pretty clumsy, pretty ungraceful for a Libra ASC haha. I consider myself pretty intelligent, but its that same intelligence that can make me overthink things and get moody
