And if trines are stronger does that mean you can't really feel sextiles in synastry/composite? Like if the orb is tight would you be able to feel for example I have Mercury sextile Saturn and Mercury sextile Uranus with someone in synastry the orb is at two degrees shouldn't those aspects be felt?

Imho, trines and sextiles do slightly different things. Trines are more pervasive but more passive. Sextiles are positive like trines, but are a little more active. I think that because the trine shares an element (in most cases) that it "feels" like the orb is wider, but that's in part because the shared element applies even if the orb is wide and the aspect is weak. Whereas with a sextile, if it's a tight aspect, it "pops".

Tight sextiles can be calls to action in synastry.

YES, to me, sextiles are mini trines. They have to be pulled out and that takes effort.

A trine is a free gift.

^ Very well said, GemBlues!
I sat up and took notice of Sun-Venus contacts when my Venus-Jupiter was tightly sextile someone's Sun. It doesn't fly under the radar as the books say. It's just so softly sparkly and nearly effortless it might be taken for granted. "Nearly" effortless, not quite.. The "totally effortless" domain belongs to the trines.

Sextiles are between placements that are similar enough to be relatable and different enough to be interesting. Like a perfectly choreographed waltz where you never fall out of step with your partner.

So basically sextiles can only be felt if the orb isn't too wide? Like for example Mercury sextile Uranus but the orb is 2 degrees.

2 degrees is not wide!
I do think they can be felt in wider orbs too. Depends on your natal and whether that sextile ties into some configuration, of course. But generally speaking, upto 6 degrees is okay. I'm a tad lenient with orbs. Mostly, upto 3-4 degrees is acceptable though, if u go by majority. I'm okay with 6.

Uranus sextile Asc, Mars in my chart is much more evident and comes much more natural than Uranus trine Mercury. I mean, that sextile is a loose cannon in me :-/ There's no "having to be pulled out" or no "need to be worked on". It's a raging, free-galloping thoroughbred.
