During Saturn’s long foray in Sagittarius, we have been seeing the very real effects of our prevailing philosophies, how the rules and conceptual structures which we exalt create our concrete experience of life. We are deciding which are false and which true, which are rooted in outmoded constructs and which have a foundation of true reality. In my opinion a worldview or a personal ideology which fosters and promotes hatred and division, competition and suspicion, will always falter and crack and eventually show through to the inner reality of compassion, cooperation, humility, and an ongoing commensurate awareness of the power of true love… These are the things which last. These are the foundations of heaven and earth.
As a collective we have been noticing the sheer ridiculousness of giving authority to those whose authority is not founded on love and compassion, but worn out dictums and downright dangerous ideology. We are witnessing the most blatantly and universally disrespected pair of presidential candidates in the history of the United States right now, and the safety of the beings of planet earth seem to hang in the balance.
It is our sacred responsibilIty to acknowledge the illegitimacy of any authority at all which does not hold up to the most rigorous testing and highest standards. This is the message of Saturn in Sagittarius, who will be turning direct late in August, and squaring Neptune for the final time September 26. This marks the end of wise, strict Saturn’s most tense dance with sweet magical Neptune which has been going on since November 26th, 2015.
Mars will be conjunct Saturn when it leaves it’s retrograde shadow after it’s long period in Scorpio/Sagittarius, where it has been since early January. We have been delving into our deepest issues and bringing them into the light quite fearlessly, and when Mars reaches Saturn we will give all this concrete form in our lives. This incredible Mars Saturn conjunction is to be right on the heart of the Scorpion, Antares, at 9 Sag, which just gives a huge amount of drive and force to the portents of a Saturn about to turn direct, as well as an enormous warning about the abuse of power.
The full participation of everybody would guide us into a fulfilling and joyous collective reality. We need everybody! We do not need walls. We do not need borders. We do not need greed, violence, or forceful domination. We do not strictly need the concept of self and other, which gives rise to the aforementioned things. Fighting one another will not resolve our issues.
I have been exploring with the idea of: Instead of saying others are bad and wrong, asking why they are doing what they are doing. If you knew everybody’s story, they say, you would sit and cry with everyone. We can only heal the world if we are truly intimate with the world. The mark of a good leader is lowliness. Right now we are exalting those who would make much of themselves. The thing is that the flip side of exaltation is denigration. Exalt one, decimate the other. It is the same in our own psyches. As soon as we begin assigning importance to certain people or even certain emotions or ways of being, we are in a process of polarization.
In astrological terms, the distinction between self and other which we make in our own psyches is represented by the Ascendant-Descendant axis, the Eastern horizon and the Western, an axis whose opposite points are marked by the place where the Sun rises and sets.
The Sun represents the ego. If we can see that in fact this ego does not change as it crosses the sky, then we as astrologers already have the answer in our pockets, waiting to come glisteningly forward.
A central tenet of Buddhist philosophy is that
“The illusion of separation is the cause of suffering.”
If we accept this premise, and move forward with the awareness that all of that which we “other” is in fact ourselves, we can address issues with a lot more compassion and patience. We can love without restriction.
We can’t afford to hoard and cower and scramble for the last barrel of oil. Collectively, personally, in all our relations, we are now building structures of thought and philosophy which last, and are in keeping with our deep innate knowing of the true nature of reality. These include selflessness, and paradoxically, full awareness of the nature of the true Self, the powerful creatrix we all are when we engage our inner silence and radiate the awareness of our intricate connectedness. None of us is special, but we all matter. Type thing.
We have been receiving and living in the effects of our illusions, fast and thick, with the ongoing Saturn Neptune square, with which we’ve been grappling with for a long time now, discerning the real from the false, and seeing how these very concepts can wreak havoc on our ability to create and participate in a reality congruent with the experiential awareness of universal, unconditional love. That high vibration of Neptunian love. The love the sea has for all things, no matter what, she, wild one,.fierce one, primordial mother, giver of life… water accepts them… makes them her own and yet remains pure… enfolding things, responding to all things, moving through all living things… Neptune is water. Is unconditional love.
And Saturn is structure, the skeleton. We need that too. We need a reality to hang our bag of skin on, to brace our heart (Sun), and support the tides and motions of our somatic being as (Moon).
On August 22nd, Mars (the muscle, the head, the pumping blood) is officially out of its retrograde shadow and hits 8/9 degrees of Sagittarius, where it will be conjunct the fixed star Antares, the heart of the Scorpion, and powerfully primed for action, thus. Ready to spring with full force, as it were, from the bind of Saturn which is also burning away there in the heart of the red star, and carry the Saturnian energy on through its journey, influencing our power structures, influencing our way of engaging with others. Many of us are learning mindfulness at this time, and how to be gentle with ourselves and others. This coming conjunction will really test how we have been working with the Mars and Saturn energy in our individualized psyche. Mars and Saturn together are often responsible for sustained rage, festering and explosive, as well as the concerted effort needed to get anything done.
These transiting giants are the very same planets as the ones which froze for an infinite moment and recorded your birth, and they are participating with your own chart at this very moment in an incredibly dynamic and specific way… we are all carrying the energy of these transiting planets in different ways, and our charts are configured such that we respond in vastly different ways eithin the matrix of oneness. Mars conjunct Saturn will give us all the needed energy to implement structures in our lives which truly have passion behind them, a real driving force. What phikosohy this force is operating according to, an illusion or a truth, makes all the difference.

Is this piece of tree bark me? Am I alive in this musical phrase?
We will all often be quite happy to say yes, I am.
Is rape me? Am I hatred and disease, war, murder, sabotage?
Not as easy to reconcile. But interestingly, it is when we accept it that we can begin to change it. Have you noticed that with small things, when you finally accept them exactly as they are their form changes?
That which has been labouring under the Illusion of separation must be acknowledged as such so that we can begin the work of addressing the effects of this illusion and cultivating right action. We need to seethe pain of the world, the disease of the world, and we need to soften and expand enough that we can transmute the poison of it into light and living awareness, which naturally breeds harmony and deep, biding peace.
As this is going to be Saturn’s last pass over the square to Neptune (over the coming months), we will be finally able to begin to live in tune with all we have been learning through the course of the square.
We will be confronting our illusions again, repeating our blunders, seeing ourselves as the luminous beings that we are… through all of what we’ve done, through all our actions in the world, savoury or unsavoury, we can touch into the deep knowing that the structure of our lives is informed by our collective brilliance, the silence we all hold within us, from which the sacred vibration of breath flows, and all life grows and flourishes. We can build this innate awareness of the unchanging root of all things, which some call love and some call tao, some call water and some call life, some call it Neptune, and all this phenomena is the like of which we have never seen before, and yet we know it intimately, as if it were a brother from the same warm litter, the placenta itself, the mother hen…
The vicisstudes of our many experiences are being shot through with light by virtue of Saturn’s straining and cracking under the spell of Neptune… we are seeing the smoke of the broken dream arising from the fountain of true reality, from which at that time especially we can begin to carve ourselves a new path (which can be more in keeping with our inner silence)

I should create more room for folks to interpret the symbols and transiting energies as they relate to their own charts but it's super tricky writing for everybody and I can't think of a bigger illusion than that of separation so I just focused on that
