A question on behalf of my daughter... She has NN Gem/6th SN Sag/12th. She has come across several articles about it such as this one:

http://freespiritedmind.com/blog/north-node-in-the-6th-house/

The question is this... What about 6th/12th house has to do with animals, and why should she as an animal lover care if they are big or small?

Sixth house rules domestic animals and pets, they say the 12th is large animals, I haven't explored enough the charts of those who work with large animals to have noticed the difference. Horses are 9th house I believe, and sometimes 3rd house, if you're using them for short distance travel/daily commuting...

You're wondering why these houses rule animals? The sixth is all about the things we encounter and do on a daily basis. The sixth is specifically about husbandry, and looking after domestic animals, because you have to do that eeevery day, you don't get to skip one. And it often feels like work but it's obviously very rewarding work if your sixth house is a happy one.

I didn't read your link yet. I'll be back. Curious now, shoulda read it!

Ok this is silly, irresponsible astrology in my opinion

"Yet, the native should be very careful with handling large animals. They are ruled by the 12th house and not the 6th, so they symbolize things we should leave back. People with this placement are advised to stay away from large animals, especially if they have a malefic planet present in the 12th house. This can indicate accidents that can be the echo of difficult events of previous lifetimes. Do not bring those events to the current lifetime, stick to your 6th house."

I have my North Node in the 4th. Should I completely eschew any focus at all on career and how I appear in the world? Sometimes I dearly want to, but it is totally unavoidable and inadvisable to completely eschew the affairs of any house or sign. They need to be carefully worked with, and integrated in healthy ways, and drawn upon. At least I think so. We need to become aware of how the ill use of those sign/house energies may plague us, and come into right relationship with them.. but to say they should be outright avoided because of fear of danger? I don't know... that's not exactly how I would put it, it is too general/specific all at once and fear mongering for me. I advise a quite different approach, and certainly a chart specific one

Thanks. Your 6th house analysis makes a certain amount of sense. Though I have to admit I think about MacGiver type repair man or maybe a nurse before I think farmer for Virgo/6th, husbandry is more classical I suppose.

My South Node is Cap/3rd. I have a Gemini/8th sun and a Leo/10th Moon. For me to avoid brining my South Node into my current life would be to reject my sun and Moon. Obviously I'm intended to apply those lessons in new areas or new styles rather than to reject them.

The thing about large pastured animals is that if they have water and a place to graze, all you need to be is a shepherd... very 12th house activity. So compare/contrast. Does she feel better as farmer, as domestic, as daily immersing herself in that which is? Has she come from a deep place of inner knowing?

EXACTLY. Was going to say exactly this. Can you ask folks with their Moon conjunct their South Node to avoid their somatic body because it's dangerous? Don't think so... you own that shee*t.

Of course it implies a specific kind of tension, but the nodes are a fluid axis and can't be broken up or separated... like a serpent, dwell in the belly, the eyes and the face but... use the tail!

She resonates with farming, with gardening, with doing with her hands. With fiber arts and crafts.

Makes perfect sense. Those are all such things as pertain to the sixth twelfth house polarity... bringing that artfulness into the daily world. We are transferring our experience between the two poles of any axis on a vibrant constant basis... as todd says, the nodal axis hasmagic and portent sabout it, nobody can deny it. It draws us inexorably... the node of the moon...
