What could be astrologically indicators that someone would get such a bad relationship to their family that they would have to leave them all behind and start a new life somewhere else?

Or that someone would have major family issues?

An afflicted moon. Mars, uranus or pluto in the 4th. I think even neptune in that house can bring issues with family because of maybe addiction, lies etc. Even saturn, he can be too much of a disciplinarian and cold sometimes that it will make it hard to live/deal with him. An afflicted mc too.

I have Mars and Neptune (both Capricorn) in my 4th house and I don't think I could ever see myself abandoning my family. I don't have a family of my own yet, but my immediate family (parents and brother) are very important to me. I actually moved to another country, but moved back because of the guilt I felt being away from them (among other reasons).

It hasn't been easy though. My mother battles her own demons (addiction you could maybe say also) and so our household was very volatile growing up. Very typical of the descriptions of Mars in the 4th. Still, I feel very defensive of her and my family in general if someone were to speak negatively of them. There is a lot of loyalty there.

I think it would have more to do with someone's own personal afflictions. Perhaps someone very Uranian who prizes that independence and freedom and wants to live uninhibited.

There's also a lot to be said about varying mental illnesses which may supersede the natal chart. These are not always seen. I believe someone has to be undoubtedly mentally ill to completely abandon their family with no guilt or remorse.

I feel that my sister will do this at some point.
Neptune and Uranus in her 4th.
She is very independent from us, it feels disconnected at times and often doesn't feel the need to tell us stuff.
We have discovered strange things about her.

I know someone who would be fine with never talking to their family again.

The mother has issues, mental a physical, and took it out on her kids. This person has Neptune, Uranus and Saturn in the 4th house. He's completely cut off his mother and barley talks to other family.

Completely opposite when it comes to work relations. That's like his other family, and he would go out of his way for them. Sun and Jupiter in the 10th. Interesting.

Well my husband stopped talking to his mom a while ago completely. The ruler of his 4th which is the sun is afflicted. He has Sun square moon by 1d and moon rules his 3rd, Sun semisquare Venus, Mars and Uranus and Sun conjunct Saturn. He does have sun quintile Neptune in the 8th.

He felt unwanted by mother and emotionally neglected essentially. He also resents her for divorcing his father who a few years later ended up dying when he was 13 and he was not present. His father was an alcoholic and that is why she left him but he never forgave her for divorcing him. Although an alcoholic he was a good dad and husband but he was destroying his health bc he was depressed about his brother's death.

She then sent him off to boarding Schools, camps and away to college...His brother is way older than him and moon the ruler of his 3rd squares saturn.

He considered his father the more nourishing one. Saturn which conjuncts his 4th house ruler also conjuncts his 8th house ruler Jupiter and he did suffer the death of one of his parents at an early age.

Moon squares ruler of his 4th and Saturn and sesquisquares Mars and Uranus, it trines mercury which rules his 2nd house. She was supportive financially but not truly, he would say "she always gives just enough for it to not matter or really make a difference in helping me." She is rich and never even purchased him an used car. She did dump money on his education I will giver her that, Saturn rules his 9th but he never finished his degree bc quite frankly the divorce, the father dying and the emotional neglect traumatized him and disrupted his maturation getting in the way of healthy development. Now bc she did not do her job as a mother well, is more attached to money and her need to feeling secure than making her son a priority and truly making him feel accepted and unconditionally loved I have to pick up her slack and deal with the consequences of that till I die bc I am sure as hell not abandoning him and creating another wound, reinforcing his childhood script and retramautizing him putting me in a role were I am essentially his partner but also the mother he never had in order to assist with the healing of past trauma and attachment issues etc..

We do have in composite Chiron in the 4th opposite Uranus in the 10th forming a Tsquare with Venus on the 7th conjunct DC and Atropos. Our relationship is suppose to heal trauma from the past through our love and get rid of outdated toxic behavioral patterns and beliefs that are the result of wounds from the past.

Saturn in the 4th sounds very similar to ruler of the 4th conjunct Saturn to me:

For some reason I immediately thought of John List. A much, much more extreme case as he actually murdered his entire family and began a new life with another family.

Sorry about the poor picture quality.

I have sun, uranus, neptune, saturn, true node, and venus in my 4th house (all in Capricorn except Venus in Aquarius). I have physically abandoned my family in a sense multiple times...I am a child of divorce with much younger siblings and I spent a long time hopping between houses in dif states before I finally moved across the country.

I'm fiercely attached to my siblings and they are extremely important to me, but I have some major troubles with myself and my parents and while I can't live near them, the guilt of abandoning my baby siblings is all-consuming some days.

On the other hand, I've been in a stable relationship for almost five years and I couldn't imagine walking out on this the way I have my childhood homes. I'd think Saturn would imply the issues I've had with childhood, obviously, and Uranus already suggests I moved a lot (I did, even beyond my impulsive splits), but I think the sun and true node here, plus the whole wad being in Capricorn, suggest that someone would be relatively dedicated to their home and family. Capricorn traits in Cancer's house, practical and perhaps seeming cold but always in it for the good of serving the family. Only thing here is I only have these feelings for the family I've built and chosen to include. I think that is a Venus in Aquarius trait shining through here...unconventional love of a chosen family.

To get away from stereotypical placements and aspects, I'd probably wonder about heavy Sagittarius placements, especially if the person has wanderlust urges they aren't fulfilling. Definitely would be seen through multiple connected placements, the inner self pulling on the placements ruling family life, career aspects pulling against child aspects, Neptune afflicted along with activity in the 4th house...

There is a difference between abandoning your family or cutting ties with your family usually for good reason and having wanderlust and moving away but keeping in touch with your family and visiting them at least once a year or more.

I have wanderlust, my Jupiter conjuncts my 4th house ruler uranus unafflicted and falls in my 1st and I live far away from my parents but love them and honor them, I would never cut ties with them, I keep in touch and visit...

Also If I had children I would never in a million years abandon them, I would move around with them..

Last, my partner has ruler of the 4th conjunct Saturn and he has moon in cancer; he would never leave me, he would be a great dad too and would never leave his family, he is a great dad to both of our dogs and when they run away he runs after them and won't give up till he finds them; he adores those dogs and they are like family to him but he did cut ties with his family of origin for reasons I explained above.

Moon in aspect to pluto can indicate an obsessive mother who is controlling.

My moon has a golden yod with pluto and Chiron and is in Pisces in the decan and duad of Scorpio. I would describe my mom as controlling, obsessive, intense, and pushy with some boundary issues, she is obsessed with religion and is compulsive about it pushing it on to me constantly and having difficulty stopping this behaviour.

She was adopted and went to a nun school her whole life. I feel religion is how she manages her anxiety but is also what keeps her from integrating different parts of her personality.

Bumping.

Do you have anything in Cancer, Leo, Taurus, Scorpio, or Pisces?

Does he have any other planets in Cancer? Or any in Leo, Scorpio, or Taurus? Anything in the 5th or 7th House?
