Somewhere around 4 minutes he starts talking about his thoughts on the significance and role of the rising sign. He does not see the rising just as a mask but I find very fascinating how he broke down analytically the reasons behind why he sees the rising sign as crucial to your personality, an aspect of you that is very automatic and innate.I love how this guy explains things, he is so mercurial and thorough. He has gemini rising so I guess that is why with venus in Scorpio and AC conjunct Chiron. The video is about Chiron conjunct AC but there is a significant section that focuses on his thoughts of the role of the rising sign. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VByuryx3pas IP: Logged |

Yes, I`ve always seen the ASC the same way. though I have to modify this a little, I donīt think itīs a competition as to what is "truely" us, or what is the "deepest" us. Several parts add to that. And the "deepest" (geographically at least) is the IC.
Anyway the ASC is our instinctual response to any stimulus, from outside usually. But becuase it is so instinctual, we are not ALWAYS really aware of it. It`s like a reflex almost; though of course it does depend on what else is going on in the chart. It`s also about things you can`t change, like your very own individual smell for example. Or how you deal with your senses being stimulated. I have Neptune on my ASC - and well, it means I am very very sensitive to bright lights (ouch they hurt), or loud noises (ouch they hurt) or even too many people with too much energy around (it`s too overwhelming). I have Taurus AC and no planets on it. I do not have more planets in taurus other than the AC, but people perceive me very stubborn. I instinctively say no to things, but then... open up. my ex-husband used to say that "by principle I opposed to anything"... after some careful consideration I think the instinctive response of Taurus is to keep things peacefully as they are and any intrusion to that paradise is received with stubbornness resistance. moon-mercury in gemini subside a lot that taurean effect, but I would say that the first reaction is more AC than moon. specially considering that the moon do not aspect the ACanother feature of Taurus is associated to the rhythm of nature. I just feel safe in the nature and stressed about the lack of. things that look to artificial or not natural creates anxiety. ruler of AC in cancer.I have emotional reaction to beauty, grace and lack of. If i visit a city or town and it is not clean of people look like hippies or such, that really affects my emotions. I find nurture in beautiful romantic landscapes and in romantic letters and poetry. anything that looks untidy and with lack of flowers and care are emotionally offensive. beauty is a profound need for me... There are many more constellations that could lead to this. Neptune on ASC is just one of them! I also have the 6th house ruler in my 1st house, which can make someone quite sensitive (somatically) towards environment-influences.
I suppose even the fact that my 4th house ruler conjuncts my ASC and Neptune plays into this (emotions have the habit to shape my physical wellbeing as well.) And there are many more you could have. For you it could be the Neptune quinkunx to Moon-Mercury. Especially if in tight aspect.

Yes, Neptune conjunct Sun is a biggie, too. Well I wouldn`t put it like that though. It`s not that I "don`t like" it. It hurts me physically. Though growing up I have found a bit of a way to tune at least some of it out, though not always. Depends a little. But I remember times when I was to cross a street and the noises of the cars were getting so much, that I was just standing there covering my ears and crying (and I wasn`t even a little child back then, people must have thought I was crazy. But also the thing was I had come from a peaceful bookstore and my organism did not take well to the sudden change in environment. It usually needs some time to adapt. And don`t get me started on flickering lights - they ALL flicker, even if people say they don`t. - Or electrical devices. lol )

Aw... yeah Ceridwen, thank you for sharing about that. Gentle, gentle, kind hugs indeed.. I have a friend with Neptune on his ascendant and the things he deals with... Well... it makes me really feel for him, as his life is truly nuts. Obviously other chart factors are at play too... But yeah...I know what you mean when you say "it hurts me physically." I'm also extremely environmentally sensitive, electromagnetic fields, toxic smells, fluorescent lights, etc... I used to be unable to be anywhere indoors, after living outside for years... I have that Moon Neptune conjunction, and I guess what I meant to say was, well, emotional discord hurts me physically... a mean or insensitive word from another hurts my heart, my blood starts to hurt as it courses through my hands... I'm probably lucky my conjunction is in Capricorn... not that Cap isn't sensitive, it is... But the stoicism helps... otherwise the sensitivity would be very difficult to bear IP: Logged |

I also feel this same way. I have Neptune in my first, conjunct ASC. Also Mars in my 12th, conjunct Neptune. IP: Logged |

nope! Not because of lack of interest... I'm keenly interested in Chiron/Asc conjunctions! And whatever you thought fit to share! I'm just slightly addicted to LL and find it difficult to navigate away.. But I must! So I shall! And it will be worth it! IP: Logged |

I understand there is only so much time and so many threads... You don't have to watch the whole video though just the part he talks about his views on the ascendant which is around 4 minutes in for a few minutes or so... IP: Logged |
