Every student of astrology knows the feeling of being overwhelmed with dry descriptions and analysis, or aligning yourself too rigidly with a two-dimensional view, and allowing intellectualised concepts to overrule and dictate your understanding of a sign, planet or aspect.

Astrological energies are archetypes, and by nature an archetype reaches far, far beyond the conscious mind and deep into the unconscious. So trying to grasp them just with our intellect is a futile exercise, which carries the dangers of subscribing to the "this is a bad/ hellish placement" and "this is a good/ heavenly placement" mindset.

However, communicating the archetypal energy of a planet, sign or placement in some kind of art or symbolism, can equate to reading dozens and dozens of articles/ books, in terms of deeply understanding the energy. To paraphrase Carl Jung, the human psyche responds to symbols and story telling.

I think it would be phenomenally fascinating if people in this forum try to illustrate the planets they feel they resonate with, through some kind of art or symbol - a song, a painting, a folklore tale, a character in a movie, anything.

For example, I'm very familiar with Pluto and Saturn, both their positive and negative sides, and to me these 2 songs illustrate them perfectly:

Saturn's discipline, inevitability, restriction, which if embraced leads to empowerment and hard-attained but permanent rewards:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3onv6buEt4

Pluto's merciless death-rebirth-transformation cycle:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLkGKkfmgjU

I, for one, am in dire need of *feeling* instead of intellectualising astrology.

So anything you share would be truly appreciated by me, not just from an abstract/ theoretical point of view, but very personally as well!

So a good method: if you can pull from any of your own experiences, first discard all "descriptive" definitions of the planets, and through feelings just describe what the planets feel like and activate/energy is inside of us.

Jupiter. Jupiter as funnel/handle planet, most energy expression through this planet. When it was in my 6th house, I only realized just now, but charity help was my main priority. I didn't act on it much, but I always thought that was what should be done, and I dreamed of getting into a charity organization. A few years eventually, my Jupiter progressed to the 5th. I knew it was happening as it was happening. I would become much more goofier and sillier, make people laugh, be less serious, and focus on drawings. All the charity stuff was completely disregarded and I just wanted to have fun. My drawings and art were my main focus. I made funny comics, words of cleverness/humour. I finally realize right now why charity and drawing were my main outlet at a certain time. Because Jupiter is definitely my funnel planet. :O

I don't know if that helps with the understanding of what jupiter is. But I imagine if I had told you my saturn was in the 6th, and progressed into the 5th, it would entail completely different beliefs/ activities. I might be wrong.

But basically it was just like the descriptions say, "grander" thoughts, my comics I put a lot of belief into the "bigger" representation of the whole picture describing a larger message. They were usually deep. Charity was like the go-to for what was best. when in the 6th. and i would think up ways. so that's all i can say about jupiter

Sun: I had the sun progress to the 12th from the first. At the time I didn't know much about astrology (only knew about moon signs). as it was happening, i noticed i started paying attention more naturally to how people were watching me. i had what felt like no energy, i felt weak for months. everything was so hard. i guess i also "knew" more what people were thinking or feeling about me because the 12th is water energy. but that isn't describing what the sun is, just the difference between the 1st and 12th. I can describe the sun. It's your whole vitality force. Your whole "shining" inside of you. But it's bursting 1000x times stronger than anything you could think. (well for what I originally thought, it's much stronger than I ever knew, this progression took a toll and a HUGE change) but it really is just like pure energy. pure will. bursting of sun light. i felt this 1000x stronger than the jupiter. it's your driving force and just pure energy

venus conjunct ascendent: i had this progression as well. while it was happening, i felt like i wanted to feel that way forever. I felt so good, like i was special. when you see someone who is very soft, gentle, cool, looking into windows as they shopping, attracting attention, being beautiful and admirable, thats venus. it is impressing others. it's being not necessarily beautiful, but impressive in a cool way. it is gentle, but incredibly coordinated and impressive.

saturn is incredibly in tuned to what's happening every moment. they are in touch with what's going on. they adapt a strong understanding of how things work. thats all i can speak for it right at this time

uranus. i can only talk a bout all these because of my progresions. uranus is a planet of not doing what anyone expects. in fact, maybe uranus is the *LEAST* rebellious planet. the reason they are so rebellious, is because they instantly see the most plain obvious thing. and it seems drastic to do that so they do the complete opposite to make their lives interesting. since their natural attitude because of this is to challenge conventional *normal* (to them incredibly boring) things, they natural are always thinking in interesting *DIFFERENT* things

neptune: from asc touching aspect,

when i temporarily had an exact aspect in my progressed, for a short time, everything was extremely vivid. i couldnt stop thinking about aliens. the atmosphere at night alone was very eerie and odd. the trees were vivid. i couldnt stop thinking about how our conciousness was constantly being changed from some type of energy force like from the earth/sun/other things that could change us.
you can see what is neptune about that. such imagination! but maybe it was true. neptune will find out the most interesting things of this reality. not everything about it is delusion, although it can be. they just feel everything more, even mentally "feel", but each planet actually feels. actually leave out the "feel" part i just mentioned. i was trying to define with my mind. i cant describe the feeling of neptune. because every planet simply does "feel" a different way. but; all i can add for the end of this one for terms: vivid, strange ideas, eerie/creepiness, weird feelings

that was only my progression expereince (actually all of these) for neptune, and in someone elses chart, coulda felt much different. but oviously i can destinct the neptune and jupiter and know the differences.

basically all my experiences really are the same as the standard descriptors. I think its because of synchronisity that the descriptors are accurate. like resonating with something in the universe as you are trying to understand what it is.

I don't have any symbology to contribute just now, but I wanted to say this is a fabulous idea, and seems totally in harmony with the mindset of the ancient peoples who first looked to the stars to understand their world.

Music, particularly classical and instrumental, can illustrate with utmost clarity so many feelings, moments and phenomenons that our verbal language struggles to capture.

Brilliant idea!

A picture is worth ten thousand words.
~ Chinese proverb

The use of images with the appropriate colors for that planet can help. Referencing the mythologies can also help.

I have too much in two stelliums to do that neatly, but since you focused on Pluto and Saturn, so will I.

Saturn:

Bad Saturn could also be summed up to me as Professor Snape, but also Professor McGonagall in a better manifestation. (I could also list two similar examples from RWBY, but most people probably don't even know what that's about.)

But also a little boy from Have Dreams Will Travel, but that's a movie most probably never heard of (and it doesn't fit until near the end, but it was about poetic how he finally resparked the love between his parents by destroying the thing both prized that was distracting them from each other).

Or maybe Roslin in her brief presidency in BSG:

I'm going to have stop there on that as I'm just not feeling more inspiration at the moment.

x

And Pluto, summed up for me in this quote from Sucker Punch (devoid of the movie context):

"And finally this question, the mystery of who's story it will be. Of who draws the curtain. Who is it that chooses our steps in the dance? Who drives us mad? Lashes us with whips and crowns us with victory when we survive the impossible? Who is it, that does all of these things? Who honors those we love for the very life we live? Who sends monsters to kill us, and at the same time sings that we will never die? Who teaches us what's real and how to laugh at lies? Who decides why we live and what we'll die to defend? Who chains us? And Who holds the key that can set us free... It's You. You have all the weapons you need. Now Fight!"

And Pluto also makes me think of the Red Queen as portrayed here (trying to remind her what the psychiatrist, man at the end, was trying to make sure she didn't remember and thus regain control of herself):
http://youtu.be/m0XnFqsMQDg?t=52s

And the song that Pluto makes me think of (more for when it transited my Sag stellium) is The Phoenix by Fall Out Boy, a sample of lyrics follows:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKOlBZJ7Izs

Hey, Youngblood doesn稚 it feel like our time is running out
I知 going to change you like a remix
Then I値l raise you like a phoenix
Wearing our vintage misery
No I think it looked a little better on me
I知 going to change you like a remix
Then I値l raise you like a phoenix

I think your Pluto song is very Scorpio Pluto. That's how it seems to me as a Libra Pluto person.

How do you feel about adding signs to the study?

ETA: I guess it's hard for me to think of a planet making music, it's more natural for me to consider at least two energies coming together and vibrating: the planet and its sign, or a planet with another planet. If that makes any sense.

Hi soren - thank you for sharing your experiences! I like the way you track progressions - so far I've only paid attention to transits, and truthfully I can only understand the energy in retrospect!

I've thought the same about Snape and McGonagall - textbook Saturn!

Wow... this sent shivers down my spine! Thank you so much for sharing it!!! Very Plutonian, very Jungian!

Oh yes, this is very Pluto. I can also see the fusion with Sagittarius. My Pluto-to-stellium transit was in Capricorn, and I can definitely see the difference of energy in the 2 songs we both selected. Fascinating!!!

Oh, please do Mercury! Big pictures would enhance your message

Personally, I feel I'm "too close" to Mercury to be able to see it clearly. It rules my IC, 5H, 8H and South Node. It's also part of a Stellium, conjunct Sun and Neptune and trine my Moon. I've been into writing since I was little and have made a career out of "communication management" and yet, nothing of the descriptions I've read about Mercury seems to "stick" or resonate with me. There's something too *dry* and superficial about the way this planet is described, at least to me. So I would absolutely LOVE to see your perception and understanding of Mercury!

Yes it makes perfect sense - I don't know why I originally stuck with planets only, but you're right that combining with signs or another planet would make this much more enlightening. I'm amazed by the difference in the songs me and PixieJane selected - they're both very Plutonic, but I gained my understanding of Pluto when it was transiting over my Cap stellium, and PixieJane during a transit over her Sag stellium, and wow does it show.

How would a Libra Pluto differ?
