I've made threads in the past commenting on how our natal charts can describe our interest in music, but now I want to see if they can describe how we respond to music. How do you respond to music?

I am easily stimulated by music. I see it as a way for sound to transmute feelings into the listener, invoking many different responses and feelings as they listen to it. It's why I'm so into music, it allows me to run off and escape into a new world created by the sounds themselves. I respond very strongly to music, and often respect all genres of music except country and rap. However, I'm mostly into electronic music. I am also an electronic musician, as you may or may not know, and I'm always trying to find way to invoke new responses into people with my music.

I have a third house Merc-Neptune conjunction exact in Aquarius, both conjunct Sun with Uranus also conjunct Sun in Aquarius. I have Moon trine Neptune with Moon in the 8th opposite Pluto exact, and I have a Scorpio Ascendant conjunct Mars exact. Wbu?

I should probably also add my 5th house Pisces Jupiter. Gotta put Pisces in there.

Music is everything to me, literally, I'm not exaggerating. 12h chart ruler Mars at 29 deg Pisces, square Neptune, trine Venus (very tight trine, less than a deg). Neptune conj (wide, but still) my Mercury and MC, 12h Pisces Jupiter in aspect to almost everything in my chart.

Music is the only thing that really awakens all my emotions. I sing and I'm pretty good, however, life circumstances have prevented me from being a professional musician (hard aspects in my chart show it too), but who knows, maybe one day I can do what I truly love and what is really important to me.

I'll go far and even tell you music is above all the people in my life and it's the only thing that makes me go on, my first and my greatest love, fills the void no human could fill...

Music helps me release emotions I can't release or express outwardly in many situations (anger, wrath, longing, sorrow). So I go outside, because I have kids, and I listen on my laptop. Not the best sound quality, obviously, but it's a release.

When I'm in the mood, I also listen to pleasant, melodic music that isn't depressing (difficult to find, really), especially with the kids. Or something upbeat and fun/funny. I like to jump around when I go to shows (which I don't do anymore, alas), and I would always get really annoyed by the Seattle crowds who would mostly just stand there, too cool to let loose even at the most energetic shows, and start yelling at people to get up and move, lol.

I like a lot of punk and garage music, so this is sort of a normal way to act at the shows I've been to. No one takes offense if you're yelling.

I enjoy many genres, most of them really. Some more than others.

Anyway, it's therapeutic for me. It helps me release. But it has to be what I'm in the mood for. If I'm not in the mood for it, or it's a genre or musician I dislike, it will irritate me the way that commercials on TV irritate me. I don't want unwelcome sounds in my space.

Mostly, I suppose it's my Pisces Sun (chart ruler) in 8h, and Neptune at the apex of a T-square, as well as the apex of a small triangle (whatever you call those things with one trine and two sextiles).

I almost take personal offense when I encounter people who I think have horrible taste in music, let alone play it around me. It's like they walked into my home and insulted my family or something, lol.

That might have more to do with having Pluto in 3rd square Saturn, though. I tend to think that everyone should think exactly the way that I do, and if they don't, well. They should, obviously.

I love music! It's very useful for when I can't put feelings into words as Violets pointed out.

Music has the power to change my mood in an instant, whether for good or bad. I can tell when an artist is truly connected and in the zone because I'll get goosebumps. There's also a scientific reason for that too, but I don't have the source right now.

Playing music is my form of meditation. It helps me relax more than listening to music can / will.

Moon in Taurus trine Neptune (Capricorn).

I also like to listen to music and dance with my kids. My son, who has an Aries stellium, Libra Moon, and Taurus Sun with Moon trine Neptune, really enjoys music. So I try to explain to him that it's a really healthy way to get his emotions out. My husband and brother in-law are both musicians, so I'm hoping we'll be able to teach him how to play at least drums and guitar.

He's very affected by music, and will sing songs that he either knows, or makes up. He also gets pretty miffed if we play a song that he doesn't want to listen to.

He has the same birth-day as Brian Eno, who has contributed tremendously to the music world.

Not quite sure what my little Leo prefers just yet. He loves music, but it feels like we should listen to more upbeat music with him, rather than the melodic stuff I listened to with our five year-old. Hard to tell.

I should add that I have Neptune in 5h.

Thanks for all the responses! It was interesting because I always think of this stuff. I listen to music so much that often it feels like without it there's an inbuilt radio in my head that continues to play it anyway. It's strange because it's not the exact same, but I'm always in that dream-state where I can literally hear the music that playing, even though there's nothing actually playing. Something I've noticed in common with you all is some sort of Piscean influence, which is expected, of course. When I sit down to play the keys on a piano, I feel like the energy that circulates within me expels through my fingers into the piano as I play the keys and combine notes into harmonies and melodies, creating a whole new soundscape with every key-press.

Without music I wouldn't know what else to do. It has helped me out so much with life in itself, allowing me to sooth my troubles and experience a new side of the reality that I walk through. Sometimes it feels like I'm going through a living dream, and music helps me better cope with that.

I'm born on the 27th of January, the same day as Mozart surprisingly. We have some similarities; Aquarius Sun with Moon-Pluto contacts and water Mars trine exact. Sometimes I feel like a Mozart reincarnation, but I can't say for sure.

Sun conjunct Jupiter in Libra today, and I've been listening to this...

Suzanne - Leonard Cohen

http://www.astrotheme.com/astrology/Leonard_Cohen

I find that I'm often in the mood for someone's music when the planets align with theirs. I wonder if that's common.

I could go on and on about the topic of music, but decided to just say this, to sorta demonstrate. I think for me it's all about timing. Sometimes I prefer silence and sometimes something else...well fundamentally it's just nice to imagine someone understands, or hop on the bandwagon of a collective mood, listening to something popular and overplayed.

Pisces moon + lots of Neptune
