Exactly---so much of what we look at and take seriously astrologically has zero astronomical accuracy, and depends on morphic resonance/synchronicity/collective unconscious for accuracy. Like arbitrarily assigning significance to particular asteroids. Or looking at all at progressions, composites (one reason synastry has more resonance for me).....I could go on. A lot of accuracy is accounted for by years of anecdotal and empirical evidence--personality traits shared by Leo Suns (for example)....although vedically, a bunch of those become Cancer Suns. Arbitrary and theoretical mathmatical points....and mythological concepts applied randomly...are CENTRAL to any practice of astrology.

So I think potentially, the degrees in a Solar or Lunar return chart could take on symbolic significance the way a name asteroid does--because we give them significance---and planets transiting them could create significant or pivotal experiences.

Personally I find the SR very useful, even for transits but I look at it a little differently. I watch only where the sun moves and when it conjuncts other planets is when I notice big events happening (which also correlate with natal transits and progressions) so I look at it as one big picture.

Exactly. Let's keep real definitions here. Otherwise we end up with endless considerations of an astrological nature that have no real rhyme or reason, like progressing my transit chart or looking at the transits to my progressed chart. At some point you realize it more resembles astro-neurosis than anything helpful.

Yes, I guarantee you it is attributed to its hit to a natal factor.

There wasn`t. Not in terms of 4th harmonic aspecst to the major planet at least.
