Cancer shows up often in these charts, maybe it's the caring for fellow climbers, or emotional reflexesLeo for wanting the achievement and fame
Virgo for precision work, taking risks seriously, staying in good health
Jupiter for luck and adventuring

Examples:
1) Sir Edmund Hillary is a Cancer sun conjunct Jupiter, Cancer Mars-Pluto, Leo stellium, Virgo Venus. http://www.astrotheme.com/astrology/Edmund_Hillary
2) Tenzing Norgay was probably a Cancer moon, which may have been conjunct Cancer Neptune and early Leo Jupiter; also Leo Mars; Virgo SN.

Heavy Scorpio might also make a good climber. Yvon Chouinard has a Scorpio sun-Mercury-NN squaring Jupiter.
Other things could make a good climber, this is just what stood out for me as I researched it.
My husband was a good climber (probably still would be, if he did it) with Cancer ASC, four Leo planets, three Virgo planets, Scorpio NN.
