Some people are warm and effusive, such as a Cancer Venus. Others may hold back effusiveness, such as a Capricorn Venus. The Ascendant reveals our mannerisms in daily life. It is our external mask. However, we do not choose to don this mask, at will. It is affixed. In the case of Venus square the Ascendant, the native refrain from showing outward expressions of love. She may feel silly or uncomfortable with warm expressions of love such as hugs and touches. Venus is, also, outer and inner beauty(grace and charm). A strong Venus, such as Venus trine the Ascendant may be gifted in making the most of herself, physically. She may know how to apply make up and dress becomingly. She may have a sense of style or panache that others envy. On the other hand, the Venus Square the Ascendant may not know how to enhance her own beauty. She may feel unable to make sense of the world of beauty products. Venus trine the Ascendant may have a natural social grace. Venus square the Ascendant may feel uncomfortable in social situations. She may feel that she does not know the right thing to say or the right way to act. That person would still be affectionate and express it outwardly. I think that person though maybe sometimes expresses that warmth when is not appropriate in a way socially and just doesn't care anyways I do agree that this aspect can make someone feel awkward socially like they always feel their skills in that area can be improved and don't just flow per say but over time those skills get better although that awkwardness doesn't fully ever go away completely. This is not appropriate and he does not like it but I do and don't care LOL. That is one example but yes sometimes I want to hug my clients, that is another. Technically hugging clients can be appropriate if done right but overall is socially more acceptable to avoid it but I get this urge to do it at times bc I feel they need it while most therapists will not follow that urge bc is not exactly socially appropriate. This is on point. Despite the fact that I have 3 personal planets in Cancer and a Pisces Moon, I am not really the touchy feely type and never resonated with the whole warm and cuddly nature associated with these signs. I would say I usually appear cold and aloof. Must be a mix of this square and my Sun square Ascendant too. And even though I'm a painter, I cannot for the life of me do my own makeup well. I also am horrible at small talk, but I think it's because I have pretty bad social anxiety. I always worry if I end up saying the wrong things. The trine sounds nice. One can only dream. Oh well. At least I have Sun conjunct Venus, so it evens it out sort of. IP: Logged

I love eye make up and using eye liner and never feel scared about using eye liner in my eyes nor does it feel awkward at all. Now my sister is a cancer with venus in cancer and she is scared about using eye liner and never does, doesn't wear make up that often and when she does is very light. My friend from high school who is a cancer sun also had issues with using eye liner. I am feminine as well and do fine in that area although yes I am not super girly either making everything match etc. Also, I don't really enjoy shopping that much nor do I take hours to get dressed and when I shop I go in get what I want and leave, I don't take hours shopping. People will tell you my social skills are fine though; I am friendly and charming as I do have jupiter conjunct Uranus in the 1st and venus conjunct mars in Leo and moon in pisces with neptune as my strongest planet. I just don't like socializing that much but do like it in small doses; I can see how AC square Venus makes it so you don't love socializing and only enjoy it in small doses here and there. IP: Logged

But now in my 30s I do light make up as I got older I learned this and eased up with the make up. IP: Logged

Do you find you can be rude out of the blue and say things outrageous for shock value or just bc you enjoy the freedom to be able to say whatever you want or out of rebelliousness? I am thinking mars conjunct Uranus square AC can manifest that way. Rebellious and daring, you value your freedom to assert yourself and say what you want ect even if not socially encouraged or frown upon...you don't conform to society expectations of how you should behave or be is my guess including in terms of gender roles. Now bc of all that Venus influence everything I said you might be suppressing to a significant extent but the urge is there. I have Mars conjunct Venus square AC as well. IP: Logged

I think having ascendant square AC with Jupiter conjunct Uranus in the 1H is why. My hugs can be an explosion of love, the love is obvious and not subtle at all. Now moon square Saturn in combo with AC square Venus can translate to someone who hates hugs and feels awkward hugging I bet. IP: Logged
