dear Ceri,

do you think the 4th house and its situation (planets in it, the cusp sign, the ruler planet, the ruler position in chart and its aspects, etc) suggest only how the person feels and/or acts in childhood or even until adolescence and that the home situation can differ when a person starts their own family? Or do you think they would still be more or less the same when it comes to their own home which they will share with a spouse?

others' answers are also welcome

Hi,

the 4th house stays the 4th house, no matter how old we get.

So yes, I think it covers the old family situation and also how we create our own family, and even more so, it tells us about the deepest sets of feelings we have, our emotional core, even our soul-family, or at least our attitude towards the family-theme.

However it does not mean that the experiences of our childhood will be repeated (though they often are), but every planet or aspect has different possibilities of manifestation (within a range of course).

Additionally I notice that progressions play a big role. So what is happening with your IC progression-wise or the ruler of your IC, can tell us a lot about what is going on NOW, as compared to in your childhood.

What is your take?

EDIT
Oh also if we share a home with a spouse, this will have an influence as well, as the other`s 4th house-complex will merge with ours, and can create something very different that we were used to (unless we come from similiar backgrounds).

I agree with all you said actually. thank you , I needed someone else's perspective too.

I agree that the 4th house stays with us, and it also shows the theme of the end of the life cycle in some ways. like the situation of your deathbed, or how you will be transferred into the eternal peace.

What I found quite interesting is that any planet you have in the 4th, and its aspects to other planets (or if you don't have any, the sign on its cusp and the planets that the cusp ruler makes aspects to), will merge in with a partner's, which very often has similar planets, cusps, or planets aspecting the cusp ruler planet, so in a composite, the 4th house situation is similar to either of the individual's 4th house, and is also like a mixture of the two; much like any other house in the composite actually.

also good point on the progressions , yes I too have found that they influence us a lot on how we act/what themes our lives will have at a certain time.

Huh Uranus rules my IC and I want to be cremated. Uranus conjuncts my Jupiter so maybe I will die unexpectedly but it would be a positive peaceful quick blessed death. Fingers crossed.

Girlwiththerainysoul,

"I agree that the 4th house stays with us, and it also shows the theme of the end of the life cycle in some ways."
Yes, traditionally it is seen as the house of endings, too.

"will merge in with a partner's, which very often has similar planets, cusps, or planets aspecting the cusp ruler planet, so in a composite, the 4th house situation is similar to either of the individual's 4th house,"
Yes, it seems like we often are drawn to those, with whom we have something in common in respect to 4th house matters. Must feel like home, though of course there will be modifications.

my Dad for example has

IC in Sagittarius
Chiron in 4th
Mercury at the end of fourth
r4 in Aquarius in 5th, conjunct Venus (and Sun widely), opposing Pluto

My Mom has

IC in Virgo
Moon, Venus, Mars, Saturn in 4th house
r4 in Scorpio in 5th house, (very widely conj. Sun), trine Uranus and sextile Mars

Of course there are some differences but both have a 4th house resonance with Mercury/Virgo, ruler of 4th in 5th house and Uranus/Aquarius.

Also my Mom has Venus in 4th house and my Dads 4th house ruler conjuncts Venus.

their composite IC is in Libra, with Venus at the end of 4th house in Scorpio, already conjunct 5th house cusp though.

The intercepted ruler of Scorpio, Pluto is near their composite ASC and trines Mercury and Sun in 5th house
