When I started noticing that a young Aquarius was very different from an old one, I decided to study how sign ages. These apply to the sun, but the ascendant and the moon placements could change things up a bit.

ARIES:
I would say this sign has a very hard time with aging. Aries typically do very well when they are young. They will be the child star, or the person in its 20s who rises in the world quicker than its peers. Then around middle age, things start to peter out a bit. Old age is sucky for them. They do become more tolerant, almost more their opposite, Libra.

TAURUS:
Taurus can age well, though their personality will not change. They usually plans for old age, and do things methodically toward that end. They will accumulate money and material goods, and the only issue is that they will have to learn to control their love of foods to ensure a healthy old age. For Taurus, as long as they have their material comfort, they don't mind aging.

GEMINI:
Ages pretty well. Will tend to look younger than its peers. But still hates old age. Gemini gets deeper as they grow old, life teaches them to be less flighty and more grounded. But they are still gemini and they are still fun to be around.

CANCER: Still pondering that one.

LEO:
Leo doesn't mind aging, at least the men. They see themselves as becoming more venerable. It's harder for the women as they do miss the attention their beauty and their youth gave them. Madonna is such an example.

VIRGO:
Tends to age better than most, providing she gets a hold of her worrying and nervous nature. Virgo can be the typical batty auntie who lives alone and loves it and survives else everyone in the family!

LIBRA:
Hates old age. Hates it! Misses the days of beauty and youth, will do its most to preserve herself, and usually succeeds, but many Libra can fall prey to excessive plastic surgeries. Many older libra can become more like their opposite, Aries as they become more vocal and less fearful as they fight for a cause dear to their heart. Example, Brigitte Bardot who went from being France Sex Kitten to advocate for animals and arch conservative.

SCORPIO:
Old age does not bother Scorpio. It's disease and feebleness that bothers it. As such, Scorpio wouldn't mind leaving this world when it is still young, unless he has some arch enemy he would like to live long enough for so he can get him in the end or at least see him dead in his casket.

SAGG: Still working on this...

CAPRICORN:
Does old age very well. Capricorn gets better in every way with the passing of years. More money, more self confidence, more contentment. However, the lower capricorn can fall into Scroogeness, so successful older Caps should make sure to engage in some kind of philanthropic pursuit to add the final veneer to their name.

AQUARIUS:
This is what I notice about their dual rulership: The young Aqua seems to be dominated by Uranus, while the older seems to follow the path of Saturn. Example, Ronald Reagan who was unconventional in his youth and aged to become a conservative statesman.

PISCES:
Imo, Pisces does not age well. Pisces starts this world with a lot of idealism and by the time it reaches maturity, it has gone through so many disillusionements, it doesn't like to live in this world. So it tends to escape through substances, or love or other things. And the final escape is death, which sometimes Pisces wishes would come quickly.

I think the Gemini females become less flighty and the Gemini males become less likely to run away as they age.

I use to always have a way out of difficult situations.

Now...its hard to get out of serious commitments. You can still plan what to do in the worst case scenario and how to handle it.

But I just don't have that ability to drop everything and run anymore.

Whats interesting is the Gemini Adult and Gemini Child relationship.

Its fun to see both of them age at the same time. I have that kinda relationship with my Gemini niece.

Madonna isn't too bad for her age, I'd compare her to a fine wine that's been properly aged. , lol.

I can't speak for all, but my parents have taken a greater "grandparent role" after my sister just had her third child.

Not true of me. But I think I know why, and it's not astrology.

At age 4 I was tossed into a lake with a life preserver and made to get myself back. At age 5 I made my own breakfast through my fears and created a sense of accomplishment and independence. This created dopamine reactions in my brain that valued independence and caused me to pursue it more. In media I began to gravitate to independent characters. At age 6, the neighborhood girls shunned me (I think it was their parents who made them) and so I was shunted to the boys which curtailed my exposure to girl media (and playing with dolls of young, beautiful women for me to pretend to be), and following up on my choice of media I gravitated to scif/fantasy in which women were valued like men for the most part, which wasn't dependent on being young, beautiful, nor the focus on romance and marriage. Heh, I think I was 12 when I read Z for Zachariah (VERY different from the movie, and like the exact opposite of the romance genre formula) and this continued to make it difficult for me to relate to other girls (though by this time I did have female friends I was close to again, but they were misfits like me).

At times there were discordant notes. For example, I'd read Endless Quest, a series where you were a wizard or great warrior or clever trickster, whatever, and as a reader you had to make choices for the character. (These weren't the only "choose your adventure" books I read.) The characters were always male and I was glad when I found they had some for girls called Heart Quest. Unfortunately, the ones I tried had the character I was to make choices for cry a lot and get saved, and then act as a cheerleader for the brave knight or what have you to not only save your character but also complete the quest. This didn't appeal to me (and was a violation of the pattern I had been following) and I went back to the Endless Quest for boys.

The cycle continued in life and media, and furthermore I had it rubbed in my face how powerless I was as a kid so that I didn't want it and still marvel that some people want to return to childhood. And like many kids, I wanted to be an adult, but I didn't imagine myself as a prize to be won, but someone able to get my own prizes. In my later teens I also got into neopaganism which valued the Mother and Crone as much as the Maiden, and the Crone was one to understand the most, and to also have the most power, and that appealed to me on at least a subconscious level.

And as I grew older, reaching age 30, I overcame a lot, found peace, and also overcame my PTSD. As much as I might miss the seemingly endless energy (and faster ability to physically heal) of my youth, I would not give up what I have now to have it back, and that's because of what I learned to value, which is different from most females. And I also feel that I've "been there, done that," and look forward rather than behind me (and tend to be amused by my younger selves in a way they would not appreciate, though I still sympathize deeply with them and value that part of my journey).

x

I know people don't like to admit it, but the media has a lot of influence (and why advertising is so profitable), though I don't mean to blame it for a lot. How much influence it has depends on still other influences (especially parental), and the kid raised by abusive parents who reads the most wholesome media will still likely become a dysfunctional violent abuser while someone raised in a loving and involved home will likely grow up the same even if s/he spent a lot of time watching violent and gory movies. But it still has an effect (and it tends to overlap other cultural influences). For kids, it helps them identify with characters and shape that image of themselves and their place in the world, as it did me, and as I see it doing to others. I love how the changing media has inspired kids in different ways than previously. Perhaps I should give an example, but I'm getting tired and just want to finish this. (Just be glad I don't veer off into false news and demagoguery.)

The point is background as well as cultural values (not necessarily the dominant ones) matter. I can see this in other signs. If society values its artists or professors over its athletes and businessmen then Leo will aspire to the former over the latter because of what Leo was raised to see as important (and thus worthy of himself). And if someone's chart makes one out to be a zealous patriot, that person would embrace the nation of one's birth regardless of ideology, and may find themselves at odds with astro-twins in enemy nations who are just as zealous with a different ideology and nationality.

Great thread Belage

If its of any help at all I'll tell you about Sag and Cancer. You can take or leave as you wish of-course. But Cancer 1st.

My father is a Cancer.

Whilst I think Capricorn may signify old age externally. Cancer signifies the aging internally.

And I think when Cancer ages, its like a double dose of aging- since the 4th house is indicative of both home life and the golden years

My Father has gotten very nostalgic. He wants us around the house during holiday seasons-even though our interactions with him are minimal(He has Cap Moon).

I think emotional bonds become more important and there is a fear of not making peace or at-least a fear of being abandoned that becomes very palpable as Cancer ages.

I would say that even the "macho" men become increasingly maternal and emotional. And the grand-kids are savored and enjoyed(if any)-because its a chance to show love.

Cancer energy together with Leo are inextricably combined in the expression of pure, unfiltered, tangible LOVE. They are the heart(Cancer/Moon) and soul(Leo/Sun)of the birth chart.

Unless there are strong Gemini/Aries placements, Cancer lives very much in the past. And at no point in life does this become clearer as in old age.

They start to reminisce a lot. Many beat themselves up about "bad" decisions made and yearn for 2nd chances(where applicable).

So when Cancer feels they have failed to do this, they can get very sad.Which brings on melancholy and a dangerous vicious circle begins.

Sometimes regret or feelings of isolation from people they love can end their lives early through diseases complicated by heartache. Or there could be an onset of depression, anxiety or trepidation with the very idea of death(unknown).

Cancer truly returns to the "baby" state when they age as they get very vulnerable and a vigorous social life can help keep them from being too bogged down by their own private ,subjective thought patterns.
