I know this isn't really a thing.....?

But just work with me for a sec..?

If we can agree that certain years seem to have a collective energy... How might astrology play into this, other than just the general movement of the planets throughout the year.

Obviously, it isn't that the earth was created during a certain date that we can determine... but, going with the notion of "it's a new year" would there be any charts worth looking at as a kind of "Solar Return" for the year as a whole? I think instinctively we'd want to look at the chart of January 1st, but wouldn't it make more sense astrologically to look at the chart at which the sun enters Aries?

I don't know...

I guess I just got into the thought that... if the majority of people see January 1st as the New Year, and kind of an "ending" to the energy of the previous year... for astrologers, wouldn't there actually seem to be a period of time where that energy carries into the first few months of the year as well..?

This is honestly a shot in the dark.. but I thought I'd ask or mention the subject in case someone has any ideas..?

Of course the general movement of planets will always dominate everything else.

I was thinking of this, too, on New Year's Day.

Same thought: which SR chart do we use for the planet? I would think the Aries Point is a stronger indicator, it's nature's New Year.

And I have no experience but it seems like an interesting research project.

Yes, interesting idea, I agree.

And I second Faith`s suggestion with the AP, too. In fact I think there are some mundane charts being done with that?

Very interesting thought, ReadingTheStars95..

Would a yearly solar return be accurate then? The Gregorian calendar might not be the best indicator for the Earth's "new year", yeah the Aries point makes sense. But -- wow, so many variables.

Yes, I found it in the little booklet about "Zeitcombine".
It`s basically very similiar to the ideas of Marks charts and Event-Davisons.

The author mentions the yearly sun ingress chart, which IS when Sun is on 00°00 Aries, which would show the year ahead in relation to the location (of course you in America would have a slightly different chart than me in Germany, due to the timezones).

However the author is carrying it a bit further in making what I call an "Event-Davison" with the ingresschart to indicate what will visibly physically manifest in your life (as the AP has much to do with the individual placed in the world, and having visible impact on the physical reality around them or vice versa, so such a Davison would show what we will encounter in very worldly terms in the year to come. I have not tried it out yet though. I prefer making EventDavisons or Eventcomposites for very specific events in my life).

Well the last Aries-ingress chart (2016) for my birthplace (and where I reside) had Moon right on the DESC and Saturn on the MC - very interesting.

It was a Leo-Moon on the DESC. And Vertex conjunct Jupiter.

the ingress ASC was 21 Aqua conjunct my natal Atropos, ehem. lol

oh and this year`s Aries ingress chart for my location has

ASC 12 Cancer with Juno exact on the DESC

Moon on 27 Sag exact conjunct saturn by 4 minutes on the same degree, which is interesting as it brings the ruler of ASC and DESC together

(and in fact is sort of a reflection of my progressed chart which will have Saturn exact on DESC, as ruler of ASC, around that time; curiously enough my pr Saturn-DESC overlays the ingress charts ASC by 1 degree only)

Neptune will be 2 degree off the MC and exact trine ASC (which means the ingress MC will fall right onto my natal Ceres-Jupiter)

Of course that would be mroe or less the personalized version, but the Cancer-ASC with the Moon-Saturn-conjunction and Juno on DESC and NEptune on MC would be applicable to anyone living in my town or so.

(this was particularly interesting to me as the ingress horizon overlayed my progressed horizon plus ASC-ruler Saturn, and the ingress DESC-Juno also falling onto the name of a certain someone in my natal chart by just 1 degree. lol
And the Moon-Saturn-conjunction being so close to my natal Sun-Mercury; and MC obviously on my Jupiter-Ceres, and ingress Vertex exact on my Valentine, if that means anything. I just couldn`t help these individualized overlays. lol)

this is the Aries-ingress chart at my location

[/URL]

Here are some articles on the last year ingress chart
http://cosmicintelligenceagency.com/aries-ingress/
http://www.ninagryphon.com/2016-aries-ingress-prediction-litigation/
(well obviously her presidential prediction was wrong, but she was not the only one )
http://www.astrologysoftware.com/resources/articles/getarticle.asp?ID=13
(this is about how to read a mundane chart)

Anyway honestly speaking I am most interested in what the ingress would mean to me personally.

from very exciting notable events the brain can become more open and receptive with it's vast network of neurons/electrodes. when this happens the effect's from astro it absorbs can last a few months.

notable events occurring might be such as birth, meteor showers, anything that makes the person less closed, scared, and more open and amazed.
