I've been thinking about the difference between people who have got Mercury in the same sign with the Sun and those who haven't.I know a lot of people from the second category, and it seems to me that they don't seem to show their Sun sign's characteristics as strongly as a Sun/Mercury in the same sign person, but they somehow seem to be more balanced. For example I know a bunch of Scorpio Sun/Libra Mercury people - you can still feel the intensity of their Sun, but it's coming across in a more balanced way. In the same time maybe they feel like they cannot express themselves in a way that would really reflect who they are? Also I know some people with Leo Sun/ Virgo Mercury. These people are analytical, but open about their thought process. While Virgo Sun is thinking themselves crazy but is not natural to them to reveal this process, at least not until it's mostly clear for themselves and acceptable. Leo Sun doesn't seem to care, they are just putting it all out there. Also, another one would be when Mercury is in the same house as the Sun as opposed to when they are in different houses.
For example I have my Sun in the 12th and Mercury in the first. I wake up talking about myself a lot, but then I feel left with a strange aftertaste, as if I've been talking about someone else, like the more I talk about myself the further I get from me. What are your experiences? IP: Logged |

I can relate.Cap sun, Aqua Mercury At LL I have struggled to describe myself, often erase what I say, and usually prefer talking about more objective stuff like "On this date, the planets were here and there." But I do feel my sun and Mercury integrated for some reason. Maybe because if my chart is right they are both in the 6H. Or maybe because Saturn is co-ruler of Aquarius. Or because my progressed sun has been in Aquarius most of my life. IP: Logged |

I'm a direct example.5th house Gemini Sun 5th house Mercury in Gemini Mercury and Gemini Conjunction. I embody all of the traits both good and bad. Even the most mundane general Gemini sun descriptions you read in the newspaper 9/10 times I meet the criteria. Ironically I tend to have the best friendships with same sun same house mercuries as well. ==================================== Gemini Sun, Capricorn Rising Aries Moon Gemini Mercury Venus Taurus Mars Cancer IP: Logged |

Hmm.. That's right.. The Librans I've known with a Libra mercury are more obviously or overtly Libran than ones with Virgo or Scorp mercury (I'm the latter). I come across differently to different people. But for the most part, the Libranness is not very "out-there". Unless I consciously channel it. Then again, that might be because both are hidden away in the 8th house. Actually, go ahead and make your own observations if you'd like. (For instance, what do you think of my communication style? Does it fit the Libra mould? Etc.) You have another example for the different-sign-but-same-house category. IP: Logged |

I second this. Sun in Leo/Mercury in Virgo people sound extremely sharp and intelligent. Maybe the Sun in Leo helps them communicate confidently and effectively? I think people who have their Sun and Mercury in the same signs are more predictable and the way they talk matches their overall vibe. But I suppose this is obvious. I've known Sun in Gemini/Mercury in Gemini people that were too much and 'all over the place', even for my Moon in Gemini/Mars in Gemini!

I have Sun in Taurus and Mercury in Aries.I don't know how I come across to others. However, lately, I've been more verbally expressive, because I've been trying to break my fear of self-expression. My opinions are just opinions and it's unlikely they threaten anyone. Even if they do, I'm trying to develop a tougher skin in the process of being more open about my thoughts. My Sun and Mercury are also in different houses. Mercury is in 5th house and my Sun is in 6th house, which I'm still trying to understand. My Sun in the 6th house just doesn't feel right to me. Overall, my communication style likely differs from how I experience my identity. My inner thoughts are much different from what I say, for example, and my thoughts are much less pleasant in some ways. To be honest, I have never asked anyone how I come across. I once heard from a friend that I am "formal and extremely polite," which was at the beginning of our friendship. Not exactly an "Aries" kind of communication, but this was before my mind returned to its normal functioning with the use of medication. I couldn't function well so I relied on accepted ways of communication in order to make friends. Since then, I've become my normal self again, whatever that means. My Sun and Mercury are in Gemini by progression. They are also conjunct in my progressed chart. IP: Logged |

I believe it was Alyssa Sharpe that said in a video...that people with a different Mercury sign send their thoughts through a filter before speaking rather than just word-vomiting whatever comes up.

I have the same placements and feel the exact same way. Sun is in 9th and moon in 10th though. I edit a lot of what I type before clicking submit or send. I've also asked three close to me how I appear on the outside. IP: Logged |

I have Sun conjunct Mercury in Aquarius with my Mercury in the third and my Sun in the fourth. It was Alyssa Sharpe that said that people with a different Mercury tend to send their thoughts through a filter before saying them. It makes sense, considering that their communication and thought process differs from their internal world, so when they think about something and go about saying it, it's processed differently. I can see this with myself with my third house Mercury and fourth house Sun; I tend to filter a lot of the things that I say. Sometimes I will randomly burst forth with a sort of verbal reaction that can be "out of the blue" but usually I think through my thoughts before voicing them. My dad is a Leo Sun in the fourth with a Virgo Mercury in the fifth. I think the fact that his Mercury is in the fifth house makes his verbal process much quicker; he can be very intelligent when thinking rationally but often he can put his mouth where it doesn't belong (Sag Moon with Gemini Ascendant?). He also has a Gemini Mars on top of it all. ------------------ Scorpio Ascendant Aquarius Sun in 4th Gemini Moon in 8th Check out my blog ya'll: www.electrodgxtalks.wordpress.com IP: Logged |
