Can you post the charts or what are your placements. Sometimes say if he had his sun in the 4th house, even though he is a capricorn sun being in the 4th house will still give his sun a cancer vibe to it. Outside of those things , his ascendant could be in a water sign given his sensible side. Also your chart and placements could see his placements being sensitive if you have water placements. Like guys can come off to me as emotional threw their actions and not necessarily threw their words because my sun in cancer will see or pick up on the emotions even though their not always said.
