Do you feel it at all?
Does it matter?

Is this the energy your relationships have?

Is it the type of partner you go for?

Is it as important as the ascendant?

These are the questions I ask myself when people seem to only talk about the ASC and the MC as important and disregard the DSC and the IC as not that important.

Does the DSC and IC only matter if coupled with their ruling planets?

This is such a good question - you're right that people don't think about it as much as the outward angles.

I have a pretty good relationship with my descendant - it's in Leo, along with my moon (6th), Mars, and North node, so I feel a lot of leonine energy.

That said, I have just realised that something I need in a partner is someone to treat me like a queen. I don't mean full on worshipping but, I need someone who can put me first when I need it.

And actually I've never really had that - maybe it's the Mars in Leo in 7th throwing that off? :lightbulb moment:

I also agree that the IC is really important. It's the hidden home stuff, the behind closed doors stuff - of course it's significant in relationships I always give it the same amount of attention as the Asc and Dsc when looking at charts - especially interpersonal ones.

I think the ruling planet gives an extra edge. So for me, my Dsc ruler is in the 3rd and communication is a complete dealbreaker for me in relationships. But then my IC is in Gemini, ruled by mercury so that's tricky to split out 😁

Both my 7th and 8th house are Aquarius. Jupiter is In my 7th house, conjunct my descendant angle.

I'm drawn to guys that are comfortable with who they are. I could never date someone who follows the crowd and doesn't have a sense of self identity. For instance, for half of my life I lived in a southern town where all the guys wore polos and khakis and played golf with the same people they grew up with. Everyone knew each other and they all ended up marrying each other with their kids becoming friends. While there's nothing wrong with this lifestyle it bores me to tears. I love someone who travels, sees the world, wants to know more about life outside of their home town, has a creative side, and isn't afraid to be different from the standard.

So I would definitely say that the energy of the 7th house matters. It's what you're looking for in a partner.

The only thing I'd have to say against it, is that I don't think I could ever date an Aquarius moon. Im far too sensitive for one. I'm a very big water person, and I find Aqua moons too cold.

My Descendant is in late Taurus. I require a stable, committed relationship. My partner must also be loyal to me.

If someone wasn't planning to spend the rest of their life with me, I would drive that person nuts. I've especially driven past exes nuts, because those exes weren't committed to maintaining a relationship with me and I really need that for a relationship to work.

Mines in late Aries (3rd decanter Aries). Passionate, fiery, sexual, and epic!

I feel it alright, and it DOES matter. Since it represents marriage partner, I would say yes, it represents the energy our relationship has. It does describe my fiance too, even though he has no Aries in his chart, but he does have Mars conjunct Ascendant.

I would say the 3 most important personal placements is your Sun, Moom and Ascendant. So not as important as your ascendant in a personality analysis. But, it is more important than your Ascendant when looking for relationship themes, marriage partner preferences, and events in your romantic life. The descendant, and IC always matter though no matter what. Technically everything matters in a chart, but home and roots (IC), and partners/marriage (descendant) are huge themes in one's life.

After I rectified my chart my DC now makes a lot of sense, before it did not.

Taurus is on my 7H. I loooooooove venusian guys, I have always attracted and been into the artistic guys instead of the guys who are addicted to sports. Both guys I have been in a serious relationship with do not watch sports, my ex has venus in libra and my partner has Sun in Libra and Taurus rising. It seems that people I end up in committed relationships with are venusian, for both my ex and my husband their strongest planet is Venus. Both are very creative guys. I admire creativity a lot and feel I completely lack it in myself which is perhaps why I end up with guys who I feel are highly creative.

I have my chart ruler Mars conjunct Venus so I feel this reinforces the theme of attracting venusian types when it comes to marriage. With my ex we wanted to get married.

I also have Juno in Taurus. I have met 3 taurus guys in my life I was interested in getting involved with seriously but they tend to be too much of playboys so it never got serious. Libras are more faithful IMO.

I can never associate myself with my Dsc... It puzzles me because I don't normally get along with Air signs and yet my Dsc is Gemini. I think I must behave/act like Gemini unconsciously in one way or another. I can't tell. I have never had Gemini friends either. My close friends are usually from my Asc (sag), Mars(Aries), Sun (Pisces), and other water signs.

I need space, mental freedom to express my thoughts and someone that can see the WHOLE picture. I look at things from the outside to inside as opposed to from inside to outside. I also need constant change ala Uranus. Luckily, my husband has Uranus all over the place (incl his 7H) so things works out good for us.

Yellow- do you find yourself attracted to the qualities of a Gemini? Maybe not so much the Gemini sign itself. So for example maybe someone who is intelligent and quick witted may appeal to you. They would be independent but they would also have a fun light quality to them.

They could also be represented to you in a Mercurial fashion on their natal chart. Whether that would be Sun-Mercury person, their sun in their 3rd house, or even making aspects to your Mercury.

I rarely date Aquariuans but I did fall in love with one once. He was my biggest heart break. I have noticed however that other guys I have dated either have any Aqua rising or have a Sun-Uranus in their natal chart.

Oh, boy, the descendant. Mine is in Sagittarius, and yeah, I guess I'd like to be with someone who's smart, philosophical, easy-going, who'd allow me to have a lot of freedom (and vice versa, of course). Travelling together is not really necessary, but I don't think I could be with a partner who wouldn't have a mind of his own and who wouldn't be able to show me something new. Dull people need not apply.

Descendant is important, to be sure, but I also feel the influence of my Venus and Moon, which modify the ideal image of my ideal life partner a great deal. This becomes painfully obvious to me when I actually encounter a real life Sagittarius. I have a really strong reaction to Sag Suns, and I either absolutely adore them or I hate them and I have trouble forming a more meaningful and long-lasting relationship with them because I'm interested in serious stuff (Venus square Saturn) and I feel too proper and dull for them ( Moon in Virgo), so I'm trying to pick my words carefully, in order not to say something which will cause them to raise their eyebrows and disappear (which is something that happens regularly). So, based on my own example, I believe that descendant is important to a certain point, but it's not the only factor to consider. I see that some of you have also mentioned some other important elements, and I agree completely.

IC- I didn't really use to relate to it, until I found this site: http://marianneohagan.com/astrology/asc-dec-axis-and-mc-ic-axis/the-mc-ic-axis/?PHPSESSID=3f8f3585a9a340285f521e320a07cf8a

It's pretty accurate, I think (IC - Leo/ MC Aquarius)

Hello hello!

Yes! Intelligence is very important to me! I need something to admire about him and intelligence is one of the quality I look for but I felt like this may be because of my Sag Asc conj Uranus. I have no idea...

I have a tight mercury square with my current SO so yeah my mercury is activated alright.

The Air signs I meet seem too flaky and superficial to me even though they are nice people.. Something about them turns me off and puts me on a guard. It's weird :/ One time I got involved with an Aqua guy was because of his late Aqua degree Moon... like it was on 28? You know how it does to the lovely Pisces stellium we got! He broke my heart -_-.

Yellow-
It's funny because I'm not really into air signs either. Even though Aqua is an air. I could never be with a Gemini. I just feel like Airs are so unattached and unemotional. I guess Aqua Risings are about as close I get to them lol. I feel that the suns/moons are too distant.

I think because you and I are so heavily Pisces that we need someone to be a bit emotional/sensitive or at least understanding of that side of us :-)

You said you're friends with a lot of Aries. Do you tend to date men with Aries qualities? Women tend to be attracted to their Mars sign.

It's funny because growing up there were two signs I said I'd never date- Aries and Sagittarius. Turns out those are the ones I'm subconsciously attracted to. With Jupiter on my descendent and my Aries Mars. I dated a Sag for 4 years who had an Aries moon, and now my current bf has an Aries moon. My bf in college had a Sag moon, my high school bf was an Aries sun. It's funny what you realize when you start looking at charts closer. Astrology always wins ;-)

Almost all the guys I've dated were Aqua suns. The one that I'm currently dating is one. The others had Sun conjunct Uranus so I believe the DSC does matter.

I feel like these relationships have taught me to embrace my weirdness and to be a little more independent. I have my NN in Aqua in the 8th as well. I'm still trying to understand what that means with it being in my 8th and all.

I love those unique, independent men. I'll take the weirdo over the normal guy any day.

my dsc is taurus, i also have my moon there, but i'm not attracted to taurean guys per se. however, i do seek stability in a relationship, both emotional and financial and security, but not too much. i also think that i myself display taurean traits rather than to feel attracted by them.

i have uranus conjunct asc, so both my moon and dsc are in opposition to uranus, maybe that's why i tend to avoid too heavy grip of a purely tarean relationship.

Ahhh yes yes yes!! I feel the exact same way! I love our Fire/Water combos! We are definitely strong Pisces people and without my Fire, I think I would be a paddle of water, sobbing and feeling defeated everyday lol!

The air signs are definitely too detached emotionally for our taste for sure. I usually feel this way as I gradually get to know the air person. A regular friendship is as far as I can go.

You know I wish I started astrology a little earlier... I have no idea if the guys I've been with had much Aries stuff going on... But! The physical quality and types of guys I fall for seems Fire quality in nature: athletic, ambitious, manly man, muscular and strong. This is in addition to the mercurial quality I seek like you said in your post: intelligence, a bit of quirkiness, witty with words, humorous, etc.

Astrology does win and shine through relationships and human interactions, doesn't it? It never ceases to amaze me!

I don't have any particular feeling about the sign on the DC of my chart, but I do tend to find Pisces types disproportionately represented among the people (especially women) I like and am drawn to.

My Asc = 17 Virgo.
My wife's Mars = 20 Pisces, conjunct my DC.

My wife's Asc = near 19 Scorpio.
My Mercury = 22 Taurus, conjunct her DC.

Not all relationships will show such DC connections to either chart, even if the Asc figures of both charts are correct. Sometimes the essential synastry connection is found in declination with the other person's planet in a sign other than your DC.

Sometimes the connection is with a planet in your 7th house. Sometimes the tightest key connection is with the Moon.

As a Virgo riser, I tend to look for how I can be helpful to others and this is reflected in Pisces on the DC.

Let's be clear the Asc and DC are names for the opposite ends of the same thing, the horizon of your chart. They are not separate things and should not be seen as differing in importance.

The DC is the extension of one's natural personality and mode of relating (Asc) to others.

Do you feel it at all?
Yes my dsc is gemini and i feel that i just like people who i can keep long conversations about random things

Does it matter?
:|

Is this the energy your relationships have?
yers but the bad side ...I attract a lot of geminians with moon in libra, I was once two best friends with this
Moon in libra care a lot with status
gemini too
I am simple...
So they (two!! its not coincidence dude)literally abandoned me and looked for people more richer and beautiful or who are in evidence
but i prefer to believe that is moon in libra fault

Is it the type of partner you go for?

nope,I really do not know what my type is yet
But definitely intelligent and >>>>>faithful<<<<<<
>>>>>trustworthy<<<<,hahahaha

Is it as important as the ascendant?
i don't known,probably not.

i think dsc don't matter a lot in a couple
it's just... dictates one feature that you find indispensable in a partner

(In my case, be chatty)

My boyfriend's 5th house is Gemini and 8th house is Virgo, so his 5th and 8th house ruler are Mercury. His 7th house is Leo.

My sun moon and Mercury conjunction are conjunct his Mercury. And I am a Leo rising. I guess you can say I'm his type ;-)

I do usually feel a magnetic pull towards my Mercurial friends. My Desc is Gemini. After learning Toth is connected in some way with Mercury, it motivates me to bettee understand my desc. My husband is very Mercurial but not overly so.

This is so important to say and understand really.

I read my Dsc axis as an extension of my 6th. Planets in the 6th nataly arc to conjunct the Dsc and oppose the Asc by progressions or Solar Arc theory.

This has helped me to understand how Mars in 7th really works-because I just didn't understand the "cook book" descriptions of Mars in 7th at all for my case.

In many ways Mars IS the person I become when in a relationship.

I didn't identify with the "aggressive" tone of Mars at all. But since learning that aggression has two sides- explosion and implosion. And that either depend very much on the nature of the Mars sign as well as aspects.

I implode a lot when in relationships. Most times the partner can sense how tense I am when upset-even without expressing it. I usually close off.

This passive aggressiveness I owe to Mars being in Libra. The Venus undertones never want to show the "ugly" side of anger and want to maintain every ounce of control.

The other thing is how energized I get when with someone- I feel like doing so many differing things with my partner that the last one I had once complained; "Babes, can we just order in and refrain from going anywhere or doing anything physical today?"

The other part is the physical attraction and/or sex. There has to be lots of it or I can't hold my interest.

My Mars in Libra conjuncts the Dsc Libra by 1 degree.
