I know there are pros and cons to the quote function, but should it stay or should it go? Why or why not? NOTE: It can't be modified to where you may choose an option to not be quoted on a post. IP: Logged |

I don't think it should make a difference whether it's there or not. As long as you are still able to write What you want to write what does it matter. The only thing is , if you've removed editing then take out quoting as well . Either they should stay together or both be out. IP: Logged |

Based on the newest "fashion" on here to NOT quote, I say rid with it. IP: Logged |

I like using the quote function and feel it helps with online communication so the person knows what I am talking about and who I am talking with. IP: Logged |

I like the quote button and I probably would miss it if you decide to erase this option but sometimes cause too much problem,at least for me.Personally I like to just put the @username without quoting anyone here because I feel better.Plus is not nice when you want to share something personal in order to help someone else but you feel like you can't because someone may quote you.A few days ago I wanted to tell my story about a certain transit cuz someone did ask and honestly my fingers were scratching to give a reply but I didn't.My reply woundn't make much since without a deep explanation lol IP: Logged |

Every time someone tells me to unquote them I do and 90% of the time when they say please don't quote at the end of their post, I don't quote them. When I do quote them is by accident and then they let me know and I edit it out and correct.I think adding to the message "pls don't quote" should suffice. This way your request is honored and other people who like to use the quote bottom at times can continue to do so. IP: Logged |

Conversations here can be long and subject tends pounce..then it's practical to able to quote. Why this thing is under conversation anyway? IP: Logged |

I vote to keep it. It's helpful when talking to certain people in specific and keeping track of what they're saying. IP: Logged |

If you don't want to be quoted, write "PLEASE DON'T QUOTE" at the bottom of your posts. And if you don't want any of your posts to be quoted, make "PLEASE DON'T QUOTE" your signature. We also need to use a bit of common sense and not quote sensitive posts or personal infos, that too will help. You can also erase the personal infos and only quote the astrological part if you still want to quote them. IP: Logged |

Great suggestions, Thanks. We could incorporate these into the Forum rules perhaps. IP: Logged |

Removal of it will cause a lot of confusion and will create a bit of a problem especially in personal readings. For example, in a thread where a lot of people are being offered readings, if ASDF asks for a reading in the first page, and the OP responds to ASDF's query in only the fourth page, simply writing "@ASDF blah blah" won't be sufficient to get @ASDF's attention. ASDF won't even notice that post most of the time.IP: Logged |

I say leave the quote but add the option not to be quoted. That way everyone will be satisfied. I find the quote function very useful when replying to questions. It saves a lot of time.IP: Logged |

In my honest opinion the quote function is kind of irrelevant. Yes, it may be handy but it doesn't matter whether you use the [QUOTE][/QUOTE] tag or just copy and paste the text (or username) you wanna respond to. Quotes can't be used as evidence because they can be manipulated just like Electro proved.Quotes only cause problems when there are pictures. I say remove the automatic quote icon but keep the quote tag, that way absent-minded users won't accidentally quote posts and pictures people may not want quoted but the people who insist on having this function can use it manually which takes like 2 more seconds of your time IP: Logged |

Another idea is instead of "quote" to have "reply" which would generate the user's name only either with bold tags or with quote and bold tags like thismeyray, blah blah blah or quote: meyray
blah blah blahGrabs attention but doesn't take information from the post.

on the reply screen you could also add tags for anyone to copy paste, if you take it out like this: [.QUOTE][.b] <insert tex> [/b][/QUOTE] or/and [img] <insert url> [/img]would be a challenge tho cause you'd have to first paste their words, then copy each side of the quote tag i dunno i'd say leave the quote, or do a trial period for a few days IP: Logged |
