A lot of my 10th house is Gemini ( 2/3rds), I have NN at 10.41 deg gem and Jupiter 25 deg gem in my 10th.

For just over 10 years I have been moving away from the food industry and getting more interested in writing, researching and studying.

I believe it's mainly my NN that is becoming more activated and urging me to pursue my life's path, so I'm following it more. It's like a pull on me to figure out certain things and to get the information out there.

So I think the NN may be the strongest indicator of career esp for 2nd half of your life. Mine is also in 10th house, so that must be having an affect also, more so than MC.

deciding a career has to do with looking out at the world, seeing what is wrong, and how you want to fix it.

for example, when i look out, i see people doing rituals of jobs, that they do because they are in a repetition type life style. they are filling out the "supposed to be doing" style.

what i want in the world, is to not see a vet office there and workers going there because they are supposed to.

i want to see some place that cares about animals, because they want to.

you only want a job if you want/need money. if you are fine, then there's no reason to worry. especially when you can eat grass and survive. even hunt squirrels (if you are a meat man)

when you live on doing what is meaningful, basically what is required of you, then you are on the path.

We all have purpose in this life and if you can find a career that you are passionate about and involves your life path, then you will benefit the most from it. Even if it's low earnings, so you can't afford so many things but having a career that is more fulfilling, this is much better for you overall.

OnTheOtherHand has pointed out to: 'stop using your head, go with your heart.'

With the North Node this will show what is more suited to your life's path, it usually becomes a stronger force the 2nd part of your life. Quite often you won't want to take this path because your comfortable with your SN and have to move away from this to achieve the most for yourself..

All I can say is that I would take any job, but would want to make it to a senior level pretty fast. I'm not good at being subservient.

I think that oftentimes, people's choice in a career has many variables in the decision making: practicality, salary, location, need, family and perceived reputation of having that role.

To the point, I agree with soren. I would also like to add that the 10th/MC May reveal how you would act whilst in a job role, not what you will work as.

Both, because they are parts of the same thing. In some charts, however, there is nothing there and the placement/aspects of the planetary significator of the sign over the MC may not give much information. So you also look at the 6th house.

None of that means anything unless you are certain you have an accurate Ascendant, which is the basis for all accuracy in house lines. Even charts that are relatively accurate are off by a few degrees, enough to change the sign over the MC, thus changing the planetary significator, even changing the declination aspects to the MC.

What if the MC is at say 29deg Taurus and most of the 10th house is in Gemini. The MC may point to gardening or food type career, but the overall 10th would say different (more like journalism and writing).

MC and 10th house can be different, would need to look at the aspects to the MC and the planets in the 10th.

Understood, but you missed the point with a sign-based notion of 'different'. The question was posed with an either/or scenario, but my answer reflected no such duality. I always look at all the information presented there altogether -- once I have verified the accuracy of cusps/houses. So I don't see the MC saying something different than the contents of the 10th house, regardless of differing signs there, because I integrate that information into a synthesized interpretation rather than seeing them as separate parts that appear contradictory.

By itself the sign over the MC cannot be counted on to indicate a specific career, but indicates a general mode. Taurus [Venusian fixed earth] over the 10th does not indicate a specific career. Most people who have Taurus over the MC do not have gardening or food-related careers. Art/entertainment is just as likely, as is craftsmanship, as in carpentry/building/architecture. But if Mercury is parallel the MC, writing, journalism, or teaching could be just as likely. Careers change as the society develops and offers people more options.

The whole chart has to be taken into account, including the 6th house. Many folks won't be happy in one line of work their whole lives and will want to explore various aspects of their talents and develop them further.

ChildofVenus, if you are speaking of massage therapy for yourself, that sounds great. I hope you go forward with full confidence in your ability to help others. MC=Taurus > Venus in last degree of Pisces makes for a great caring sensitivity with others. Just be sure to shake off and not absorb any negative stuff from clients.

Moon in Aquarius can assist with some personal detachment from them. Important when dealing with the public or lots of people day-to-day. If your Moon is in the 6th house, this further indicates caring sensitivity to the body and its needs. 6th house: care of the body and natural health methods.

You also have Mercury-Jupiter conjunct the North Node, which allows you to carry forward to great success by just speaking positively about what you want to do, "I am ...___ ..." and watching the positive word spread.

Hi Kannon, I agree that the MC, the 10th house, all the planets and aspects to these. Plus the 6th house and many other things in the chart should be synthesized together to look for best career possibilities. And that there are many suitable careers for a Taurus MC, including sculpture, landscaping, gardening, architecture, real estate, antiques, farming, catering, visual arts, decorating, home renovation, performance arts, music, crafts, finance, the list goes on....

I didn't mean to criticize your answer, was just pointing out that some people who have a change of sign in the 10th house, their career options can change during their lifetime.

My MC in Taurus 20 deg, NN and Jupiter in Gemini, I had a big shift occur and I no longer wanted to work in the food industry any longer. I became far more interested in astrology and solar system research.
