Hi,

I know astrology is much more than Sun signs, however I've noticed some trends with Sun signs that are not traditional in terms of the signs being compatible.

I've noticed many Aquarius-Scorpio pairs. More so with parent-child relationships but also some couples.

Pisces-Leo has also been a big one. Not many couples either, but parent-child pairs and friends. I'm a Pisces myself and I tend to get along well with Leos.

I've also seen a lot of Libra-Scorpio couples and best friend pairs.

Any thoughts on these pairs? Or have you noticed any other "odd" trends?

My mom is a Gemini and my dad is a Capricorn. To be honest, they're divorced, but they are both mature enough to get along as friends.

And is it unusual for a Cancer and Leo to be together? My grandparents were these Sun signs. Their marriage lasted for over 50 years.

In the past, some of my best friends had a sign square to mine. I've had a Sun in Leo best friend and an Aquarius best friend. Nowadays, i'm only best friends with a Sun in Scorpio and I'm a Sun in Taurus. I also seem to get along pretty well with Sun in Aries.

I am a Leo but have dominant water. That doesn't change my dominance but allows me to be extremely sensitive.

I (Libra sun and stellium, Leo ASC, Sag stellium, most planets in both stelliums on the Scorpio cusp, and Jupiter is all the way in Scorpio) tend to get along with Scorpios, though I have had to put up with a couple of bad psycho-stalkers and a few paranoid ones. Basically, I've come to feel that Scorpio, the sign of extremes, tend to be the best and worst, strongest and weakest, people out there.

Interesting enough, I once had a BFF who was born 3 days after. I don't know her TOB, but I know that otherwise we had about the very same placements...only she had a Scorpio sun (Libra cusp) and Cappie moon while I had a Libra sun (Scorpio cusp) and Sag moon. For whatever reason she was weaker than me, but also more stubborn. She was fixed all right, but I was the cardinal one to make her plans happen (maybe that's something her Cap moon took comfort in). She experienced a lot more beatings, bullying, and misogynistic fundamentalism than I did which may have contributed to her being weaker (though I had scrapes enough with all of this to sympathize with her). And when the 2 of us became runaways on the street, I was the one to make the friends and connections so that we could both survive while she was generally too scared to approach or open up to people. I do like to think that maybe if she had survived then she's rise up from her ashes and become a great psychological healer today (with a Scorpio fixed determination).

I missed her so much as I heard this song, I know she'd have loved it even more than I did:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1LVZ5Fv-_bc

Though beyond her, other Scorpios I got along with weren't that surprising. One I was close to was because she knew I was always honest and that I examined things closely, and we enjoyed each other's perspectives in trying to figure out the "truth of existence" (matter, mental, spiritual). Not too long ago I also did a netsearch for an old screen name of mine I hadn't used in over 10 years to find more than one Scorpio saying they missed my no-BS input (this despite that I argued them all more than once) which was touching. But like my real life friend, they were seekers after the truth of the greater mysteries of life and all the dirt beneath the clean surfaces of our society that most people like to pretend doesn't exist, as if it's a virtue to be naive.

(Of course, not all Scorpios are like that.)

Others liked my kindness, though it was probably good that we didn't get TOO close since Scorpio normally isn't into balance and fairness as Libra is (but after I showed kindness to one Scorpio in a dark place, she repaid the favor many times over and we got along well though we never got that close despite behind neighbors).

I have also clashed hard with some Scorpios, when we were rivals, when they became too obsessed with me (or liked the punishment I dished out when they tried to take what I would not let them have), or because they were too wounded, defensive, and paranoid (which I don't put up with). And I have a very complicated relationship with my Scorpio mother.

Perhaps it's worth pointing out that I haven't found that many Scorpios that fit the abusive Edward Cullen model that some on LL love and desire, but I'm glad to have seen a couple of Scorpios on LL also pointing out that those stereotypes can't be seen even as generally true. But then those who stereotype Scorpio in such a way (and as a romantic ideal) don't seem to truly understand it. For example, they ask advice outright on how to manipulate him when they should know he'd see through it and either discard them coldly or turn it against her. Or even how to make a Scorpio jealous and/or controlling, as if they think he would do so according to their BS romance novels, and her own desires of what sexually using and controlling means, rather than what he (and more likely to be influenced by porn than romance novels) would do. If he's in control then it's HIS fantasies that prevail, not hers, but too many women don't seem to realize that (or maybe they're just as much a glutton for punishment as broken Scorpios tend to be).

Though it's not just women since in real life I've seen more than one man fall for my mother's dangerous charms (and more than one guy hoped I'd introduce them even after I explained how she was poison).

That is at least partly because planets in these signs are both in south declination and can form parallel aspects. Those are just as much indications of bonds and fusion as conjunctions of longitude (zodiac).

You will find 'odd' pairings of every kind allowable in the zodiac, because there are many more ways to compatibility through conjunctions and parallel synastry aspects, etc, than what is suggested by the worn-out, reductionist models of zodiacal pairings.

My wife is a Sun-in-Gemini. I'm a Taurus. She has Moon in Leo. I was born when Moon was in Capricorn. Yet her Moon is contra-parallel my Jupiter, a positive aspect supportive of relationship, good humor, etc.

For any real notions of compatibility you have to look deeper into the birth charts of both persons.

With inconjunct and semi-sextile pairings Venus is the culprit I believe.
As she is never too far from the Sun, she can either oppose or conjunct a partner's Sun and these are common and powerful aspects in synastry.
Semi-sextiles occur when at least one partner has his planets mainly in one quarter, I've noticed. They don't like crazy oppositions to their planets, it seems.

I've noticed pairings like Cap-Gem, Leo-Pis, Sag-Can or Sag-Tau very often.

Square Suns are also pretty common, especially in parent-child relationships.

Another weird one is Leo Sun - Capricorn Sun. It sounds so odd - but somehow works. Leo likes Capricorn's ambition and good taste and Capricorn admires Leo's loyalty and charm

I've seen Aqua - Cancer & Libra - Cancer pairings among my friends.

Gemini - Scorpio / Gemini - Taurus is very common and of course, Leo - Cap!
