people know the boundaries, but they dont know why

anyway equal houses means the first house is 30 degrees exactly, starting from asc. each house is 30 degrees. all equal. it's an idea, maybe it works.

placidus instead uses the MH/IC (sun's highest daily point) as the integers for 10th/4th cusps, and all the boundaries for the rest are based around it.

whole sign i believe might mean the asc starts at 0 degrees of whatever sign it is falling in. so if its at 13 degrees cap the true asc and first house starts at 0 degrees.

i'm not sure what koch is, i believe it was a smart astrological guy who came up with his own house system that he used.

House systems are an attempt to individualize the birth horoscope according to its anchor in the exact location of the native's birth. The cusps dividing one house from the next are purely superimposed by way of either time-based or arc-based (space) divisions, starting from the Midheaven and Ascendant for that exact geographic location. It is the arc distance or separation between Midheaven and Ascendant that forms the basis for these cusps.

The equal system is to make neat equal houses on paper / flat wheel charts only. It is not really a house system since it does not account for local variants to the Midheaven, which it typically deposits in either the 9th or 10th house.

Whole sign, like the equal system, is a superficial measure of houses replaced by the boundaries of signs, but keeps the Asc and MC but not as house cusps. Therefore no intermediate cusps are calculated. It fails to fully distinguish between the two hemispheres of the locally defined horizon.

Koch was designed by the German astrologer Walter Koch who introduced it in 1962. It dissects the semi-arcs (intermediate house cusps) by time division. Not valid past 60° north or south latitude and cannot be calculated for polar regions.

Placidus is also known as the semi-arc system and is a time-based way of trisecting the arc between Asc and MC. It was supposedly invented by the monk Placidus di Tito (17th century), but has its origins in the trisecting practice of the Arabian astrologer ben Djabir (8th century) or the Arabian known as Albategnius (10th century). It is the most accurate system up to 60-66° north / south latitude. Beyond that there is no accurate house system.
