Do you think your 2nd house says anything about your eating habits/skills/preferences and such? Were transits to that house synched with something singificant related to food (improving your diet, for example)?

No, this relates to the 6th house of dietary habits and health routines, etc.

If we look at it this way, then the 2nd house is associated with the throat and that's the area food has to go through. It's also a Taurean house and Taurus likes his food.

2nd house is related to the voice and vocal talent is often found with Taurus and the 2nd house. For food, wouldn't digestion or the 4th house of domesticity and the kitchen (whichever rules the stomach) be more appropriate? Or the 6th house, as Kannon said.

Yes, its the 4th and/or 6th. I am aware of the sign-based association of the 2nd house to the oral fixation stage of Taurus/infancy, but as soon as you use the terms 'habits' and 'skills' you are referring to the kitchen (4th) and conscious choices in diet (6th).

These follow more generally the Moon and its aspect features in the chart than the 2nd house. The 2nd house is properties and possessions, what one has in hand or can get in hand, not what one sticks in one's mouth.

I do equate it somewhat with food.
Especially in her Taurus home.
I'm often indulgent due to my Venus
in my H2 where she is more indulgent
than she might be in Libra territory.
For me it isn't favorable, as I
am decadent with my palate. However,
mine is an Air sign. I believe
earth or water might be worse.

Every chart is unique of course, it
really depends on the energies
blending in the second.

Hmm. As per this debate, my 2nd house is Virgo, which has Chiron square my Sun -- I love food and am mentally healthy now, but had anorexia from ages 11 to like 15, then it went on and off for years after.

my 4th house is Scorpio, with Pluto, Venus, NN and Jupiter there -- my eating habits are extreme, even now that I don't have an eating disorder, I am always in a feast or famine type situation mostly due to finances. Also either eating extremely healthy, or being extremely hedonistic and relishing in unhealthy foods because I can do that without much consequence while I'm young, and because I never let myself do that when I was younger. Lol

my 6th house -- is in Cap, with Neptune and Uranus squared to my moon. I am generally sensible about eating and interested in healthy habits. But these go out the window on a whim, if I'm excited and working on a project I can forget to properly nourish myself for days. Also, my eating habits have a huuge impact on my emotions! (As I'm sure is true for everyone, but having the Nep/Uranus square to my moon, I often don't realize when my bad moods just mean I need to eat. Basically, I'm a human failure at the most fundamental level).

So basically, all of these houses are kind of applicable.

libra likes the feeling of a full stomach. they also are the best at churning. as they rule that area.

Just like a gemini is strong in arms. Libra, virgo, rule food(well digestion). Taurus rules taste. Along with aries cause i think aries rules smelling.

you can't taste with your nose plugged.

try it. That's why aries might rule taste as well. Taurus rules tongue.

btw, i just had the last 4 strawberries which were old. 1 of them was really bad, a little mold on the top. i peel it off but some of the berry was darkened skin, showing oldness. dark inside a bit. regardless i ate it. it was the best strawberry i ever had!! it tasted exactly like gummies from the store.

Just like blue cheese, it actually grows mold and that's why it is blue and people eat it as a delicacy. This is the same. It tasted the best strawberry in my life. Exactly like candy!!

the others kind of had that rejuvinating fruit kind of wet feeling. Healthy tasting. This didn't have that, just pure cottoncandy

only one of my exes was understanding and didn't try to force me into eating meat

Well, humans have canines for a reason. Although a healthy diet of veges and fruits are said to be recommended.

But Chimpanzees are vegetarian.

I associate the 2nd house with tangible things that take a lot of time to accumulate/get. They are slow in coming and are very important in affirming the individual's self esteem and sense of security

One of my closest friends has Moon/Mercury/Mars and Sun in the 2nd house. And he is not a big fan of food.

He also doesn't have much materialistically. And that could be because Pisces/Aqua are on the cusp of the 2nd.So his sense of security could be tied to freedom(Aqua) and being reclusive(Pisces)?

When younger, he battled with self esteem issues and was extremely soft spoken and shy.So the 2nd house does touch on that too-especially when Sun/Moon or Asc ruler is there.

I think someone with prominent Taurus/Cancer placements would be very interested in food. An enthuisiastic eater.

Taurus Moon is a classic position for someone who eats for comfort/pleasure. These guys can love both traditional food and gourmet dishes.

They are also deeply physical in essence and connect very much to the physical body needs and wants.

They are the only people i know whom can eat even when about to make a speech or do something that is nerve wrecking. And still perform well.

And Cancer Moon can at times eat for emotional soothing or self love . They can be lovers of food that connects them to the past i.e Mom's savoury pies ,Uncles hot chocolate or Dad's casserole etc.

But these guys are more in touch with wanting to sustain an emotion through food. At times they can go for long periods without eating or disdain food i.e when they are anxious, stressed or emotional etc.

They can also have stomach related ulcers/complexes because of buried emotions that they may steer clear of food until such times as the stressfull conditions which causes the ulcers, subsides.

These guys can be very erratic in their diet when under pressure. But milk/dairy products help to ease the tension.

The food that Cancer likes to eat the most can be wholesome/prepared by someone or some place they have an emotional connection to and usually have a focus on dairy/pastry/flour etc.

I myself have Moon in Cancer and enjoy ice cream, milk tarts, apple crumble, Cake, custard pies and the like.

Virgo sign tends to focus on dietary specification and and "eat to live well" perspective.

Again going back to Mom, her Virgo Pluto squares her Sun in Sagittarius and she has said many times that eating well/healthy ,saved her life. That she studies(Sag) healthy alternatives to eating very often.

She also her nodal axis in Virgo conjunct Pluto. So she is a health nut for sure

Though the 4th and 6th House specifically focus on these things, all the houses are interconnected. I don't think we can just isolate everything.

The 2nd House is also about values whether material or on the more spiritual, non-tangible values.

I got 2nd House Virgo. I'm a picky eater but I'm also very selective/particular about food. I just find the act of eating/consuming food more as a routine than pleasure (though I do sometimes get pleasure from it). I'm NOT so much focus on health. More of a control thing.

bTW I can relate with @Selenite; except about the eating disorder stuff.

Random but I got Moon trine Venus and Jupiter in the 1st so you would think I am foodie ...... maybe secretly i am foodie

I agree with others that it is mostly indicated in the 6th house. I have my Virgo Jupiter in there and I'm very interested in healthy eating. I am a strict vegan and have also struggled between issues of binge eating and eating very little, since Jupiter is a planet that likes to 'go big or go home.'

Thanks for your replies. In case it's not clear, I do know what the 2nd house tends to be associated with. I'm curious about the potential connection to food, that's all. There are things that got me thinking. I'm not surprised to be sent to the 6th house. When it comes to mine, I don't think it says most of the story even together with my 4th house.

Good point.
