What's your favorite period of European Art & your Moon & Venus Placements?
ALSO WHY?

Me:
Scorpio Moon in the 3rd House
Venus in Pisces in the 7th House

My favorite art periods are:
Romanticism: David, Delacroix, Goya, etc.
Transcendentalism
Symbolism, Gustave Moreau, Redon, etc.
A bit of Surrealism

I like them because they are emotional, dramatic. They tell a bizarre story. Not too focus on the details or art technique. Just makes me feel something.

Oh cool! I like this topic.

My Moon is in Pisces in the 12th house.
My Venus is in Cancer in the 4th house.

My personal favorite is the Symbolist era. Favorite artists are Gustave Moreau, Gaston Bussiere, and Gustav Klimt.

I like the Symbolist era the best because of the hidden meanings and stories that are told visually. Also, many had incredible technique and experimented with color like the Impressionists did. I am heavily into skill, being an artist myself, but there also needs to be something more to make it brilliant, and I feel the Symbolist era has that with its abstract symbolism and richness overall.

I'm not a huge fan of Impressionism in general, but I like that the artists involved in that movement steered away from posh academic art, so I have some respect for them in that sense. The same goes to the Dadaists in that regards too.

I do, however, feel a kindredship with van Gogh, and can relate to him a lot to some capacity. I am a fan of his, but I must admit I'm probably a bigger fan of his story than his artwork. I'm a sucker for sad, lonely outcasts, probably all thanks to me being super water heavy and introverted myself, ha.

I do like Surrealism, especially Dali, but mostly admire the concept and prefer Magic realism overall. Magic realism is based more on different juxtapositions and real life objects that are placed in strange ways, but still carries some reality, unlike Surrealism's completely unrealistic reality that can only be seen in something like a dream. But I'm heavily influenced by both movements, so I have to include them here as well.

Oh, I also have to throw Art Nouveau in here because of Alphonse Mucha. He's another huge inspiration for me. Additionally, I guess Gustave Klimt is a part of Art Nouveau too, so there's that also. All in all, I love the stylistic quality captured in this movement; very flowy and ornamental in its design.

So technically, I mainly like art pieces that are decorative, have at least some decent skill, interesting color schemes, and contain some abstract idea with some emotion involved. I really dislike minimalism and boring, extreme realism. Lastly, I admire certain movements for their punk rock attitude by daring to go against the grain and wanting to do something different, even though I, myself, may not be a big fan of their art.

Not the biggest art connoisseur but I do love Monet. His paintings speak to childhood memories of southern Sweden with white, sandy beaches, the ocean and myriads of flowers while biking through landscape with scraped up knees and nose in the air; taking in all the scents. I still long for that, 30 years later. His paintings also evoke an extremely strong "pull" towards Italy that I can't really explain. My triple Scorpio mother said it's probably because I lived there in a past life Either way, it's so strong I can almost touch it!
Cap Moon
Cancer Venus

Besides that I like black and white PICTURES of abandoned boats and horses.

To frame it all color needs to be silver and preferably an old vintage frame.
