Do you look at your progressed natal as a new blueprint to your current self 'and' incorporate transits into the mix? I'm new to the progressed chart and am interested when looking at the current tr energies. I just want to be certain this is valid to be looking this deeply. Thanks for your replies IP: Logged |

i use primary directions see "Few techniques are more hyped in traditional western astrological circles than primary directions. This is probably because they became a very popular predictive technique in Renaissance and late classical or early modern traditional astrology, during a time when the complexity of an astrologer’s mathematical abilities were more important than the veracity of her predictions. I frequently encounter the beliefs today that with primary directions one will have the number one key to predicting the timing of a person’s death, that some specific type or combination of types of primary directions will time out the major events in a person’s life to the very day that they occur, and that, because of the last belief, birth times need to be rectified, even if recorded with a stopwatch at birth, such that the important events in life line up with certain primary directions to the very day." http://www.sevenstarsastrology.com/?p=613 IP: Logged |

I do it. I'm not sure how accurate this method is, but I didn't experience much when transiting Uranus was conjunct my natal Mars. However, at one point, the timing of the Uranus-Mars conjunction matched more with my progressed Mars than my natal Mars. When Uranus was conjunct my progressed Mars, I experienced themes of the Uranus conjunct Mars transit. So, I can only conclude that transits to your progressed chart do count. IP: Logged |

Soren, Thanks for that link. I'll read it after I catch up at LL a bit. Lerena, Thanks for the reply. I'm glad that it's normal to cross ref these transits as well. I was beginning to think I was overboard.

MoonMystic,What you're talking about is an overlay of progressions and transits. If they are very tight, say prog Mars within minutes of arc of exact conjunction with natal Sun and a planet transits over those two, then yes, this is a very strong influence. It does hold the potential that very different planets could create apparently conflicting energies, say if Saturn is the transiting planet over prog Mars and natal Sun. This is also true for any type of aspect, not just conjunctions. For example, prog Moon in quicunx/150° aspect with natal Mars while Mars transits over prog Moon, making the same aspect with natal Mars. However, you cannot rely on loose, arbitrary 1° orbs for that. Progressed aspects are not active until they are far nearer culmination, within about 0°05' of exact. (Exceptions are the luminaries, about 0°15' for Sun and Moon.) The planet in transit generally needs to be within about 1° or so (depending on its declination position as well, which could be tighter). ------------------ The Declinations Guy Rising Sign Descriptions ♈ ♉ ♊ ♋ ♌ ♍ ♎ ♏ ♐ ♑ ♒ ♓ IP: Logged | |
