My boyfriend and I had this conversation earlier. He likes to cook even when he lives alone. I'm good with snacks and instant stuff. I don't like cooking when I'm alone because a) it takes so much time, b) it's more expensive to get ingredients than just getting snacks, c) there's no one else to eat the food that I cook. He likes to do meal preps and he'll never go for those microwaveable crap unless he has no choice.

I'm pretty sure the Moon has a lot to do with this.

He has Cap moon in the 8th, and I have Cancer moon in the 1st. I have this sense of urgency when it comes to food. He'd rather take his time and have it exactly as he wants it.

Do you like to cook or not? What are your placements?

Gemini Rising
Sun in Leo (2nd house)
Moon in Cancer (1st house)
Mercury in Virgo (3rd house conj.)
Venus in Virgo (3rd house)
Mars in Libra (5th house)

I love your threads by btw

I live with my sister and we both have Cancer Moon.

I like to cook. Am not a fan of take-aways because I am sensitive to the ingredients they use on em .And I cook even when I am all by my lonesome

Her Moon is in the 1st and mine is in the 3rd.

I hate cooking for reasons that astrology doesn't take into account. Mainly, getting all the ingredients takes too long, because I'd have no idea where they are in the store, and cooking on its own is already time consuming even with only a few ingredients.

I have a Gemini Moon in 7th house, but I interpret it as being in 8th house since it's so close to being there already.

My husband has moon in cancer in the 2H with Taurus rising and he loves cooking and would cook if he was single living by himself.

I am more like you and I think is bc I am a virgo so I am kind of practical, I don't have any Taurus placements. If I was single I might just make myself protein shakes, eat peanut butter and jelly or sandwiches lol ect..than cook a meal..although bc of the influence he has had in me I would probably cook sometimes if we separated.

I love that my husband likes to cook and is more domestic than me bc he brings that side out of me. I was underweight and had a horrible appetite when I met him but he opened up my appetite. He is a natural in the kitchen...

I can't cook and I'm kinda ashamed of it...

I've tried to do some cooking and I have no love for it which makes it all the more frustrating.

I want to learn how to cook because it's an obligatory life skill and without it I feel kinda useless and childish. My aversion to it is fear-based. I'm uncomfortable with boiling, frying, baking and just using ovens and knives in general... I feel like I'll set the house on fire, scald my face with oil, cut my fingers off and other paranoid stuff like that lol

That's so funny because my SO has his Taurus Moon in the 2nd and he wants nothing to do with cooking.

He can make simple things like eggs for breakfast and can do some "light" cooking a.k.a. pasta but anything more complex overwhelms him. When he was single he would pick up prepared meals or trays of food from the grocery store. I think on our first date he tried to pass off a rotisserie chicken from Costco as one he made because he put it in his own dish LOL

I think having a passion for cooking is very complex. You have to be a very methodical thinker, patient, detail-oriented and organized. My SO is none of those things. He thinks a mile a minute and so to plan a recipe, shop for the ingredients and then execute it step by step is too much for him to deal with.

My girlfriend on the other hand LOVES to cook and is very good at it. She can very easily pull something together using what she has in the fridge without using a recipe. I envy that ability actually. She is very air heavy - Gemini Sun, Pisces Mars/Aqua Moon in the 7th, Gemini Venus/Mercury in the 11th.

I like to cook. (I rarely cook by the recipe)

I think it is because of my Mom taught her kids earlier to be independent as she is a Cap/Aqua cusp and was taught discipline by my grandparents. Since I was a kid, she always asked her kids to help her in the kitchen, did the laundry, etc, and she always had a time schedule at home, we also only allowed watching news (at a specific time), Oprah, and national geographic/discovery channel, sometimes music channel (at in the specific time). I was raised didn't know about entertainment channel (gossips, actors/actresses, tv series), no cellphone, no online account, until I was in the college.

I have moon in Aries 4th house. Yes, I can be impatient, and that is why I cook and prepare all of the ingredients in a quick manner. lol. I don't like dirty kitchen, so I tend to multitasking: cooking while cleaning while preparing the ingredients. The meal is ready so the kitchen is clean. Can't stand leaving the kitchen dirty.

I also cook for my bf. I prefer a home cooked meal than a fast food.

All of my siblings can cook too, especially my Gemini moon sister always has delicious home-cooked meal (Taurus sun) and we share the impatient manner while in the kitchen.

My Aries sun Gemini moon ex also has a good skill of cooking, I like to eat his home cooked meal although sometimes I cook for him if he asks me because he has some mood, sometimes he really likes a home-cooked meal and other time he wants a fast food, sometimes he wants both at the table.

My other Gemini sun Sag moon, can't do and do not know how to cook but knows some of the theory. I cook for him if he visits and he becomes a lazy panda who likes to stay at my home watching tv, eats a lot, a lot of "cuddles", sleep a lot, but then switches to other crazy mood.

Very cute...

I think he is too lazy to cook, perhaps his moon in Taurus prefers for his women to show him love by cooking for him! LOL

My guy has moon in Cancer so he takes the initiative in home matters bc of the cardinal energy...

Further his Sun in Libra in the 6H conjuncts Saturn in Libra in the 5H, he has Venus in Leo, Taurus rising and Pluto, Sun, Mercury in the 6H with Jupiter in Virgo in the 5H.

So there is the attention to detail bc of the 6H stellium and Jupiter in Virgo, the love of food and self-indulgence bc of Taurus rising and moon in the 2H and the moon in cancer gives him that love for domestic life. Add that his Sun in Libra is in mutual reception to Venus in Leo and you have a very creative artistic guy and this creativity is channeled in the kitchen among other ways.

I can barbecue and make breakfast other then that I get a fail.

My failing in the Kitchen is probably because:

1) Mercury conjunct Mars.

By the time I say I'm hungry and start cooking I would have changed my mind or found something quicker to nibble on.

2) Location

I live right in the heart of downtown so theres lots of cheap and quick food around.

Although I don't buy hot dogs from street vendors and I can't speak for all of them...I know the one in from of my home washes his hands, lol.

But you can't always trust people making your food. Plus I know its a ticking timebomb the longer I delay learning proper culinary skills the harder it will be to catch up.

I don't like to cook, I don't really have the time and I don't see the point in spending hours preparing something which gets consumed in minutes!

I don't like fast-foods or take-away foods either

I have been eating raw and vegan for the most part for more than 5 years now..the only things I have cooked have been steamed fish, vegetables beans, and occasionally eggs..they cook fast of course

even before going vegan and being less busy, I didn't like cooking..I am too lazy for it (taurus sun) and really prefer lighter meals (pisces moon at the end of the 8th, in the 9th according to placidus)

I like to cook to an extent meaning that I enjoy cooking meals that don't take several hours to prepare. My time is limited due to my job, so being efficient in the kitchen is important to me.

I've been told that I'm a fabulous cook. I rely on intuition rather than recipes to prepare my meals. I have a Gemini Sun in the 5th house and Capricorn moon in the first house.

I love to cook! I cook for myself almost everyday. I rarely get takeaway as if I had to choose, I would choose my food over anything else. I can whip up a 3 course meal in 20 mins if I had too. The more you cook the better, quicker and easier it becomes. I have friends who use me for my cooking abilities. And when I have the feels for a man, theres nothing more than me wanting to cook for him.

I have Moon in Scorpio in the 12H

*Disclaimer- I'm using vedic astrology for the following so you can translate this to western on your own if you prefer.

I dislike cooking and always have despite the fact that I have a stellium of planets in Cancer... the sign most known to love cooking and the home... BUT in my chart- moon- (which is cancer's lord) is debilitated.

Very often vedic astrologers say that if the lord of the sign/house is weak it produces the opposite or negative results of what it should.

Within the last year I met someone who has a very similar chart to mine. She too has several planets in Cancer and she too has her moon debilitated in a very close position to mine. And one day a couple of months ago she starts talking about how her partner does all the cooking because she hates to cook and doesn't understand why so many people enjoy it! This is when I realized that just like with me, her cancer traits do not fully express themselves due to the lord being weak. So there you go. At least one way to find out can be to look at what kind of influence the sign of cancer and the moon have in the chart.

Aries w/ Scorpio moon house 6.
I like to cook. I usually make a home cooked meal a few times a month.

My dad is a great cook(libra w/ cancer moon) and my grandma was a state fair pie winner (libra w/ Leo moon)

My dad boils bones for soup...so I turn my nose up to the cambels and chunky.

Grandma taught me how to make pie from scratch.

Wanting to eat better ingredients got me into cooking and trying cook book recipes.

I will check a recipe and write what I need and add it to the grocery list. Then pick a good day to make it. I usually just cook for myself. And put leftovers in my Tupperware and pack them for my lunch.
Bf will buy me chicken to bake for dinner.

I do get sick of cooking once in a while...when I feel like I need to focus more on other things like cleaning.

Now that you mention it, mostly everybody that replied to this thread have mixed answers. People with Moon in 2nd house either like to cook or not. Same with Moon in 1st, other water moons and Taurus moons, but also mixed answers. Mercurian folks seem to not care too much about cooking. 6th house and Scorpio moons that have replied are so far the ones with the most consistent answers.

I agree that Mars would also play into this. Like you said Aries, most people that don't really care much about cooking are impatient. I wonder if Mars really has to do with it. I personally am an impatient person despite having Mars in Libra.

I'm gonna be waiting for more replies to see if it's a combination of Moon/Mars.

I have Mars in Libra too. And am patient. Infact i have come to find that Libra is all over my differing charts i.e Draconic Sun/Jup/Nep,Sun/Moon midpoint ,Merc/Moon Midpoint, sidereal Venus/Saturn/Pluto.

I love to dig into anothers dish (that sounded suggestive ) I love to learn to create meals using simple ingredients.

I think that cooking is 5th house related. As one "creates" from nothing. And it can be a very joyous thing to do that some people are naturally good at.

Each time i cook, my dog follows me around and is probably fascinated with how seemingly odourless /lifeless groups of assembled food collaborate to form a tasty feast.

People who are struggling with weight are encouraged to cook with raw veggies and fruits -rather than have ready made packaged "health"meals or takeaways. As cooking bonds you with the food before its even tasted.

Food can nourish or pacify. Enrich us or serve as an addiction.Curb emotional feelings or exaggerate them.

I dont talk whilst eating. I look at eating as a spritual experience-giving the body an opportunity to enjoy itself. I try to eat slowly.

I think one feels alive and expresses oneself through cooking. We don't cook to feel alive but bring the zest of life into our senses through food.

Sometimes one can even tell through someone's cooking as to how their emotional state is(especially water Sun/Moon). That is why cooking when angry, never works out well.
