I was looking at my upcoming transits and I'm confused.

From the month of December 2017 - April 2018. I will have a Jupiter Square Jupiter transit, but from the end of January 2018 - Early April 2018 Jupiter will be conjunct my Sun.

I'm confused..one transit seams negative the other seams like it will help handle it.

I don't see why they can't be. I had Jupiter conjunct my Chiron when I started a relationship, which proceeded to confusing me when I considered how I'd interpret the transit. I'm still stuck on whether I was experiencing transits that counterbalanced that transit or if the transit indicated something that I'm not considering.

Though, my opinion of course, but you may be more likely to feel the effects of Jupiter conjunct your Sun than Jupiter square your Jupiter.

Yes, they can. Astrology works in aggregate, not as separate parts.

But first, you must understand that Jupiter in transit square natal Jupiter is not a "negative" transit. There is no reason to expect bad things to happen when a benefic is in any transit to a natal benefic. Just understand the dynamic of a square is stronger, more motivating (than a softer sextile or trine).

With Jupiter square natal Jupiter there can be a tendency to excess or extravagance. For some this may mean indulgence and over-spending. For others it may mean greater generosity with others, even if it is unwarranted.

This is a strong urge to giving and output. So be sure to keep things in perspective about what your obligations are first. This means giving of not just money, but time and personal resources. If you can avoid over-extending yourself in these ways, then this can be a very beneficial time.

Also: keep the ego in check. Confidence can spill over outside the boundaries of balance.

Under such combined Jupiter/Sun influences many people are inclined to go weeeeeeeeee and then pay the price later. This is not a good approach. Look for the areas of growth in which you can expand, but where you normally lack confidence to do so. Then you can keep this time constructive rather than saddling yourself with debt, obligations, or undesirable consequences later.

Robert Hand says the transit of Jupiter square natal Jupiter tests your sense of proportion. I agree. It will test how much wishful thinking and fantasy exists within your desires for growth and expansion. Know what is truly possible and sustainable for you and what is simply too much. You'll experience this transit as negative too the degree that you do not truly understand yourself and your limits.

It is a great time for some temporary adventure, vacation, etc.

And all hard aspects arent bad... it's the only way anything would actually happen. My best friend just got a new job (with a 20k pay increase) which will lead to more awesome things in his life and right now he is being hit by Saturn, Uranus, and Pluto- in hard aspect to personal planets/angles... nothing big will happen in your life without hard aspects (even the conjunction)...

Regarding what racole12 said - it is my observation that difficult transits can bring really positive circumstances to some people while for others easy/positive aspects in transit may bring very difficult circumstances followed by many struggles. I suspect this in parts is related to the overall theme of your natal chart, past choices and 'karmic debts'.

As for Jupiter alone, whether it is in a difficult or easy aspect to a natal planet, I would say it brings out the most positive attitude of yours towards the world as a whole and towards your circumstances, however as Kannon has said this is very dangerous as too much expansion in any one area of life may later on lead to a very painful contraction.

Last year I went through Sun trine Jupiter by progression, transiting Jupiter trine natal Jupiter, transiting Jupiter trine Moon and sextile Venus, transiting Jupiter trine Ascendant (going to have this one come up again soon).
Great times, indeed, one of the best and happiest years I have had in a while. I was very positive about my situation, generous in my attitude towards others, openly giving, very energetic, etc. In order to maintain this happiness, however, I overindulged in food, which then lead to significant health problems once these transits ran their course and soon enough I realised people had taken me for granted and had very little respect and understanding once I started going through difficulties in my life.
So you need to keep your head and not overextend yourself, maintain a healthy balance.

As a side note, if you are good at reading Solar Returns you can see how one year's placements and aspects can create the circumstances for the ones to follow.

To further elaborate ... check to see what Saturn transits happen simultaneous with these Jupiter transits. Very often when the whole transit picture is viewed there will be at least one major Saturn transit to counterbalance a strong Jupiter transit.

Pluto can sometimes counterbalance Jupiter transits since they operate in different directions, Pluto in underworld/withdrawal/consolidation, Jupiter in sky/growth/expansion.

What matters in how we experience these is how we respond to these various influences. They don't act upon us as in a direct physical mechanism upon our bodies or the environment around us. The influence or 'rays' of the planets must go through the layers of our energy/mental/emotional bodies first. We respond consciously or unconsciously to the whole or to particular ones we resonate with more or would rather follow.

That is why even among a number of transit influences a person may feel and live out the Jupiter potentials far more than Saturn, at least until maturity or the need for balance draws them into responding positively to Saturn.

Thanks for advice and responses everyone.

I figured that:

1) During that time I should determine whats worth the time and whats not.

2) I shouldn't get ahead of myself... I will be finishing something great during that time frame.

But you guys are right....don't let it get to my head, I will pay the price for getting cocky and arrogant about it later.
