Hi everyone! I'm new to the forums, and I'm glad to see they're alive and well!

So far, I'm wondering about career astrology and methods used to decipher the most aptly suited careers.

So far, I'm seeing a lot about how the Midheaven has a lot to do with it (Cancer Midheaven), but... that's all I'm coming up with. I'm confident that there has to be more to it. I was researching Vedic astrology (I started with Western, and it's entirely too complex to learn at 3 am), and it uses lordships (Dispositors?), personal planets, luminaries, and the houses they all aspect and are in. Then, using all of those factors in conjunction (Punny, I know) with each other, it narrows down common themes and suggests those as careers. However, I can't find anything as to whether or not that applies to Western astrology as well.

I've seen a few articles briefly mention hemispheres, but nothing with too much detail. Additionally, I seem to have a splash chart, and that makes it difficult to keep track of all of my houses and their rulers because it just ends up being the entire chart. And, in Vedic astrology, that leads to every malefic and benefic aspect cross canceling.

I'm interested in my chart (As I'm choosing college majors right now), but I'd love to be able to help others with their charts too.

Does anyone know any solid resources that describe career astrology specifically - versus a brief side note on midheavens?

If it helps, I'll provide my birth info.

It's really best to learn astrology from the bottom-up rather than expect a crash course in one part of the horoscope to give you the answers you're looking for. That means the best approach is with full texts that build basic knowledge layered later with more advanced knowledge. There are a number of author/teachers, but the only one online that I'd possibly recommend is the Rosicrucian course (if they still offer it).

If your Midheaven is in Cancer then the Moon is its significator (ruler). In your case, the Moon [18S56 declination] is parallel Uranus [17S54], which is your 5th house ruler. The 5th house relates to creative output, performance, etc. Going further, look at the Midheaven of your chart. It is parallel Venus.

99% of texts won't teach you that, because they don't even cover declinations (north/south movements of the planets) in any serious way. So while I learned some basic to intermediate astrology from texts, I had to fill in the gaps with different sources.

One of the reasons I recommend the Rosicrucian Spiritual Astrology course is because their ephemerides include declinations, as does their software seen here:
http://www.rosicrucian.com/software/rf_ephem.htm

Any study or practice of astrology that fails to include declinations is incomplete and will often give misleading conclusions or interpretations.

I have yet to figure out what I want to do for the long time, I just turned 29. I initially got a degree in English assuming I would pursue a career in higher education but got discouraged by the lack of pay and jobs. Its a dying field - the English professor.

Now I work in a job that is sorta in the medical field and now considering going to school for a 2nd BA in nursing because A. I want to help others B. Have a job that will always be in demand and C. Pays well.

My MC is in Libra and my Gemini Venus is in the 7th H opposite Saturn/Uranus. Not sure if that would indicate a career in the medical field...

Thank you for that resource! I'll be sure to take a look at it. I have been chipping away slowly and surely at the foundations of astrological knowledge. I know a good amount about the signs, house system, aspects, patterns, modalities, elements, planets, influence of retrogrades, dispositorship, and transits.

However, I have yet to hear anything about declinations and am keen on digging deeper into that.

A lot of credit has gone to the Magi Society for material on declinations, but the truth is that Rosicrucian ephemerides have been listing declinations all along -- for decades. They're the best ones to have if you keep ephemerides.

However, with the freeware I linked above it is no longer necessary to purchase their 10-year printed ephemerides. You can download the software and select the options you want, displaying longitude positions and declinations separately. The program does not calculate charts for specific times, but the other freeware program does.

You can also view the declinations of your chart at astro.com by clicking the link for pdf data sheet above the chart when you bring it up. It opens up a page that lists data in columns with declinations at the right side of the lines for each planet. Finding good interpretation material on declinations is another matter. Just interpret parallels as conjunctions, contra-parallels as oppositions.

Good luck in your studies.
