I'm wondering which house would govern concepts of societal indoctrination?

like wanting a romantic parter because everyone else has it (i realised i don't even want a bf! i just want to be accepted by others which with the people around me means having or being on the look for a bf because thats 'normal')

being ambitious because everyone says you should (realising i'm on a rat race i didn't know i signed up for for a future i'm not that keen on, no worries guys i got off that)

following a certain path, belief, direction, behaviour because everyone around you does the same thing? (realising that there are subtle rules and regulations that comes with each social class and clique within the class)

just this eclipse has been bringing up my reliance on social conventions and approval and how i need to move from that external source of acceptance and motivation into an inner source. (ie. i'm only motivated for success when others are around me and that's the fuel, when i could be tapping and making my own fuel which would be significantly more potent)

this has been going for a few months actually... started when i went to an event and walked right out because i felt like someone took off the freaking rose tinted glasses i had on.

i've been realising the hold it has on me and how it's been holding me back from being myself and stopping myself from tapping into my true power. so i'm not sure if this is a 12th or 11th house matter, they've kind of blurred for me. I feel like i'm seeing how i'm self sabotaging my happiness and true self.

any ideas would be wonderful

thank you x

Indoctrination = brainwashing. You might want to think about the third house, in regards to that. The 12th, maybe.

I was going to say that I don't think it has anything to do with a house, but I grew up a real "good girl". At least to a point. Really afraid to offend, although I didn't go along with pressures to date, or do anything. I hate to be pressured.

What is your chart like?

Social conventions is a Libra thing. I would also associate this with Saturn in Libra/7th(pressure to conform to norms of etiquette) as well as Saturn in 11th(Pressure to conform with your peers) or risk being seen as a "loser".

Libra avoids social embarrassment and may go along just because everyone else is. They fear rejection coming from other people and can be very careful of this to a point of making calculated moves when climbing up the social ladder.

It may even take moving out of where they come from in order to find their own way in life. Or atleast minimizing the pressure when it comes to worrying what others will think or say.

Sun/Moon/Asc in Libra are most vulnerable to this type of thinking. Saturn in Libra is the one who fears rejection the most and is most concerned of their reputation.

^^Agree about Libra.

I also believe the 10th house plays a role in your public image, how you're perceived, and how you would like to be seen.

4th house rules the home and the private side. 10th house rules outside of the home, and reputation.

I believe it's called socialization.

Yep, Libra.

Libra's shadow side is being superficial and wanting to fit in, especially in regards to social trends.

hmmm maybe 12th house?

all the realisations i mentioned above has culminated into the final understanding that simply i have a sense of entitlement that's holding me back in every area of my life. It's been a massive Dorien Grey moment

The Dorien Grey Moment:

So i'm going to call this event in my life that. here are the transits for it: I'll start with the 12th house because i think it suits the name

there's an adorable bow in my chart like an hourglass:

uranus in my 12th house - square venus in my 3rd house
venus (3H) opposite pluto in (8H)
pluto (8H) -square Jupiter (6th house)
Jupiter (6th House) opposite Uranus (12th house)

going right across the middle of the pretty bow we have neptune retrograding to conjunct right over my saturn (11th house) and simultaneously opposing my mars (4th house)

The transit neptune is also squaring the saturn

so I guess maybe it's Jupiter entering my 6th house that's causing this dorian grey moment?

if the 5th house is ruled by Leo and self love and fun and amusement - too much of an easy time in that way I think can result in self entitlement? with a Leo IC as well - the most private part of the chart.. I dunno.. what's the astrology of self entitlement? :P

The 11th house, likely. With Uranus in 11th house, I never had a problem rebelling against peer pressure, or feeling that I "had" to do anything because everyone else was.

I agree with most of what has been said. I wouldn't really say it's a house as much as it's more of a combo of elements in a chart. I would again point to really a strong Libra/Cap influence (10th and 7th or the like). This would point to adhering (Cap) to societal conventions (Libra). If this is present, the only thing that would point to seeing if a person actually eventually breaks free of conventions or expectations would be via Uranus and how that is aspected in the individuals chart.

A prime example I have of a person who represents this dichotomy is Trey Parker of South Park. He is a Libra Sun/Mer/Ven with Moon in Aquarius (with Mercury and Conjunct Uranus) and Mars in Cap. His first marriage was to a conventional woman. At 36, he married a Japanese socialite (she's a Libra as well) who was studying to teach Japanese at Berkeley.

About two years after marriage (which I'm willing to bet was difficult for him with his Venus Conjunct Uranus, and Aqua Moon...esp as it lacked any controversy or anything that made it "different"). He left his then wife for a stripper named Boogie who had (at the time) a preteen son from another relationship.

Boogie is I believe a Scorpio (born Nov 16 or 17th Born in 1985 or 1986 according to her Instagram). This fits because Trey has Venus Conjunct Pluto and that would fit with him wanting a Scorpio. He also has that Venus Conjunct Uranus which would point to him wanting something different (it's widely known he has dated out of his race, both Emma and Boogie, who is multiracial is also included in this). It's thought that she has an Aquarius Mars and Cap Moon. I'm not sure if that is true. But I could see it.

Either way Trey settled down with what was different and rebellious (marrying a multiracial stripper with a preteen son), over the alternative that to be honest is fairly conventional (white man marrying an Asian woman).

I think this is the best example of the Libra/7th house and Cap/10th house dichotomy. If Trey wouldn't have had his strong Uranus aspects I don't think he would have left his first wife.
