Are you the type to not mind a long commute to and from work!?

What is your 3rd house ruler and where does it fall in your chart and what aspects is it making in you chart?

This may not lead to anything but wondering about the responses...

Cancer 3rd house at 24 degrees. Moon in Cancer at 24 degrees.

I didn't get my lic until I was 27.

I have always hated driving in Calgary with the population of 1.5 million people. I lost count of the number of times I've flipped the bird. I can sense tailgaters from 5 kms behind me.

Now, fast forward to my new home city...300 000 population. I feel calmer and have no issues driving here. Driving behaviour changed drastically with the move.

Yes if you live in a city with a lot of traffic and are constantly dealing with heavy traffic I will assume driving will be a stressful experience overall.

I guess I am asking this question to people who dont deal with heavy traffic and enjoy a long commute to work. Most people don't like the idea of driving for an hour to get to work even if the traffic is not heavy.

3rd house Pisces/Aries cusp.

I almost do a daily 4hr train ride to school so I can finish my last year of my degree.

Figured everyday would be an adventure and it would be much cheaper to buy a yearly pass then pay a monthly residence fee.

Driving is different thought. I take it as a necessary evil.

I take it this way if theres traffic thats a good sign that means people have jobs.

Downtown Detroit doesn't have any traffic I think that means something...

I will probably get flak for saying this.

I'm the opposite very much a big city person.
Outside of Toronto or the Corridor region (Windsor - Quebec City), the average Canadian whines if a "community" is bigger then 500,000.

With that mentality Canada's economy will always be dependent on resources, which is not a way forward.

Overcrowdedness leads to chronic stress which can trigger other problems (e.g. health, mental health) and social issues (e.g. crime).

The key is for the population to be spread out, lots of traffic is not an indication that people have jobs, its an indication of a dense population.

"North Dakota continues to have the lowest unemployment rate in the nation at 2.2%."

Colorado has a very stratified population (not dense), people are spread out and the unemployment rate as of July 2017 here is 2.4 percent. 2nd lowest unemployment rate after North Dakota:

I dont think driving is a necessary evil, I think is the ultimate symbol of freedom, progress (like railroads) and autonomy, been restricted to biking within a small community would make me feel like I am in a prison, restricted and like a child or teenager who is not allowed to explore the world too much (you are only aloud in this area).

Your absolutely correct in that sense, thats the first thing they preach in Urbanism studies.

It works great in Europe, the problem is because of N. American and the birth of suburbia it makes that difficult to replicate.

Its location dependent. Toronto and Vancouver generally have the highest income levels in Canada.

Problems arise when people who work downtown want that income but are forced to buy single family homes in the burbs to raise there growing families.

In Canada, very rarely will you get those incomes outside of Vancouver or Toronto. The rest is very much resource dependent and that fluctuates depending on commodity demand.

That's why the population always gravitates here and keeps adding to the commute time as more homes or condos are built to accommodate the increase in population.

People will complain about the commute, but they want that salary, you can't have both.

In that way it becomes a necessary evil.

I'm glad to have this talk, I know several Virgos who did Human Geography degrees. This falls under Human Geography.

One is an urban planner and works for a small municipality. One of the rare moments where Gemini and Virgo mercury comes together.

When I was born Calgary's population was at 400 000 people... I'm just not used to cities over 1 million people. It's just too big. Over four decades, over 1 million people moved in.

Where I live is 300 000 and I'm happy here.

Well, there is not really heavy traffic and I don't have to drive that far to get to 'work'..... although in the situation that you're raised, I really don't see me into it. Though, a person's view or reservations on things can change.

My 3rd house is in Leo at 11 degrees, and there's not any planets in it. Driving's therapeutic to me when it's not crowded. I don't live where there's constant traffic toward work and I haven't had a job where it starts and ends at rush hour (yet). I also like the sense of adventure while driving long distances, and it's soothing passing through the greenery.

I am terrified of driving, always have been. Afraid of hurting someone.

I like being a passenger. I love long car rides, but not too long, unless I'm engrossed in a book, or have something downloaded to watch.

3rd house is Capricorn. I wish I knew how to drive, I wish it didn't terrify me, because I also see it as freedom (having no buses or trains around here). I grew up with public transport, and was used to that. It's one of the things I don't like about living here: I'm stuck.

3rd house Gemini, Mercury in pisces and unaspected in 12th house

I love driving, even the commute, I live in the country and have no heavy traffic to negotiate.
Driving is relaxing for me, no better joy than going for a trip of 3 or 4 hours.
I am an active, over active person , and driving keeps me sitting down, nearly the only time., is great .

To be honest I prefer either downtown ( Large Urban) Toronto or Vancouver or really tiny prairie town (Tiny).

Not a fan of mid-size towns as you described because you get the worst of a large city and a small town.

You get a busing systems that is unreliable with limited routes and the employment isn't well diversified.

Better to be in a large city or small town no in between.

Same, but my reasoning was because a friend of mine was killed by a car, so I had a devastating fear of driving a car for some years after her death.

I used to live in a military town of 4000 and enjoyed it. Everything within walking distance. I didn't drive back then.

I lived in a centralized location in Calgary that was close to many things and it had a small town feel to it...... despite the large city. Though many people stick to the quadrants in the city.... and know nothing of the other areas.....

I LOVE DRIVING AND I LOOOOOVE CARS!!!! Sorry, I got excited! I don't mind commuting if my ride is comfortable. Actually, the longer the better 'cause then I can listen to more music

My dream car garage would include:

Audi RS8
Ranger Rover Sport
Chevvy SS (from the 70's)

Ruler of 3H is Pluto and Pluto is in 2H. I am a very aggressive driver as well and don't like "lingering" behind others. This is probably my Mars conj Asc.

My husband also has a passion for cars however, he hates long drives! He prefers fixing them up. His 3H is Gemini with Mercury in 1H.

There really is no reason for it. I am a very considerate and capable driver. Awesome tbh

Chevy SS from the 70s. My birth father had one of those and he was in the auto body business. He had painted it up with and orange and gold sparkly paint with a woman figure on it.... it won trophies at shows. The inside was fixed up and had a shaggy interior.

3rd house in leo and sun in 9th. I enjoy solo road trips a lot. It makes me feel alive to hop in my car and see whats out there. Usually sleep in my car somewhere and shower at pilots every other day to save money. I sometimes stop at major cities and see the museums and the beach or what not but mostly enjoy just being on the open road and hiking at national parks. Never owned an automatic car either!! I should probably be a truck driver but I don't want to get fat.

On the weekends I help my dad (Cancer) with his retirement farm since I'm the only male.

The nearest town is 1hr away and has a population of 12,000 people.

The farm itself is actually a hamlet with 12 other farms closeby.

Everyone waves whenever I drive up and I have to do the same.

If not for the farm I probably wouldn't
understand small towns.

Helps my Gemini duality... I spend 5 days a week in downtown Toronto ( Canada's largest city) then to an isolated farm on the weekends.

i hate cars.
And i have no interest in driving.
I really like public transportation.
I like seeing the people on the bus, i like the sound of the subway and how futuristic it feels.
im european though, and in america it's much more likely to drive.
Over here sort of everyone takes the bus from time to time. I've been taking the public bus from school to home since I was 10. ( my city has 100 thousand people) Eventhough my parents had both cars and afcorse i rode on them with them.

I wouldn't mind only riding in buses for the rest of my life, eventhough i am aware that cars are better options under certain circumstances.
I just think being on the bus or on a train is really fun.
I still ride the bus or the subway daily. But ye idk if i am going to be able to do it in the future.
I am most likely going to get a driver's license just so i won't miss out on jobs. but i would really hate having to buy a car and being responsible for a car. I will get a cheap motorcycly probably if i have to.

my 3rd house is in gemini. mercury is in pisces in the 12th conjunct saturn.

@Sagical

I also didn't get my Driver's license until I was 27.

Pisces 3rd H w/ Moon in Pisces and Mars in Aries in the 3rd/4th H conjunct IC.

I still don't drive, I live extremely close to work and live in the most bike friendly city in the states, so no reason to drive - except for the rain.

I grew up in the city, so the need to drive never occurred and was kinda guilt tripped by mom to get my driver's license at 27. I guess its useful to have? But I get extremely stressed out while driving.

My third house in in Scorpio, the ruler is Pluto in Scorpio which conjuncts Venus and Mercury. I have Saturn and Uranus in my third house.
I love driving even though I live in a town with an annoying amount of traffic. I got my license as soon as I turned 18. I also like being in a car while someone else drives. I love being in move in general, and I think it also has something to do with my Gemini Moon.
