Approaching astrology with the narrow human perspective of 'good and bad', 'right and wrong' 'better or worse' will never create a great astrologer. It may be that you only have a passing interest in the subject and don't wish to be an expert. However, it's rare that a even a mild interest doesn't spill over into day to day conversations and curiosity.
I believe that on an ethical level that *everything* is equal. If you want to validate this compare a few serial killer charts to some actors who give £1M a year to charity's charts.
You'll probably come across some of the same 'negative aspects' astrology shows strengths and weaknesses, not what we do with them.
A stellium person will have an inherent ability to focus. Will they use this? Likelihood will vary based upon house, signs involved, planet connections.
A splay (I have a splay) will show versatility but mostly in the areas where there is the least chart tension. i.e. I have Moon-Saturn conjunct square Pluto; emotionally I'm quite fixed and resistant to change (in other areas not at all).
So I'm afraid you'd never really be able to simplify but you will be able to recognise trends. The best way to do so though is to pour over charts and charts and charts until you identify your own forms of recognition.
Please never think one thing is better than another. Venus-Jupiter may be the life and soul of the party but they're also prone to excess and diabetes. Sun-Saturn may seem a little reserved and cold, but they're solid, trustworthy, and brilliant in a crisis...
No client wants bias, they want *insight* and usually a very sympathetic ear too ;-)
