When I started doing this I figured I would just sleep or pull out my laptop and do work.

But every time the person siting beside me starts a conversation.

Last week a retired senior traveling across the country started talking to me, yesterday a Professor and today a Lawyer.

Is there something in someones chart that makes someone approachable?

Headphones are the ultimate "I don't want to make small talk" signal. The other way is to keep your eyes to yourself (For me, that's very difficult).

Astrologically speaking, I think the Venus or ascendant in a sociable sign will make you look more approachable, but it depends on aspects and house placement as well. A lot of conversation is body language and eye contact which the moon would control. A moon with an easy aspect to the ascendant might help?

Astrology is like math in that there's many ways to arrive at the same result, so it would be much easier to see your chart and we might be able to tell you what aspects make you seem open to conversation.

Based on my own chart (Since we've had similar situations), I think two things make me seem approachable and open.

Sun parallel Venus - This is an aspect that functions similarly to a conjunction, but not felt so strongly. The functions of Venus (How we bring beauty into the world) meld with the functions of our Sun (How we assert ourselves into the world) which adds charm and grace to the subject's outward demeanor. My Venus is in Gemini and my Sun is in Cancer. The normal Cancerian vibe of mother and home and nurturing is combined with the witty, playful, talkative Gemini vibe. This makes the way I carry myself and my neutral expression seem light and sympathetic - perfect for starting conversations with.

Moon in Capricorn - It seems surprising, but let me explain it. Cappy moons are known to be serious and cold. That is true when dealing with their own emotions. When dealing with the emotions of others, we like to provide sound, practical advice and planning - that's what helps us at least. People who are in a time of confusion and waiting to dump their life stories? They could really use some good advice and sound logic. A Capricorn moon's eyes will communicate this effortlessly. While they're serious, they're wise as well. Additionally, Cappy moon eyes have a way of seeing right through barriers and facades. Their gaze is only intimidating because they see right through all of it. You've just got no choice but to be honest because their eyes are not buying any of the BS you might sell.

Rising sign also has a lot to do with it, and Kannon's helping me figure mine out. I can't really make a comment about that until I know what mine is.

Anyways, again, if you post your chart, we can take a better look at some of your characteristics that encourage conversation with just a glance.

I ask, as I had bumped into a Libran young lady a few weeks ago who explained she had no Birth Time because her mother had abandoned her. She was left at a local Fire-Station after her mother gave unattended-birth... then adopted.
Broke my heart!
But she has A Huge Vision to help other people... Soooo special.

DualGem... We have similar placements.
Sun and Merc Gems, Venus Taurus, Mars Cancer... then Saturn Scorp. And with your outer planets, it makes ME at least 30 years older than you are.

I have intercepted houses (Virgo/Pisces 9/3). My Equatorial Ascendant is Cappy ... It's like living a 'dual' chart with my having the interceptions.

I have 2+ Aries IC/Libra MC.
Sun in the 6th. Merc in the 7th.
Cancer stellium in the 8th.

Today transiting Jupiter Libra is on my Neptune-rx 10th.

Throughout my life, I've had (what some people call) a face, or a vibe, where people naturally open up to me. Strangers, while on travels, or in restaurants, would initiate conversations where they poured out there Life. ... And I LOVED it. I felt Honored and quite privileged.

PEOPLE, people's lives, are some of the most fascinating encounters.

When you're an astrologer, and they talk.... you can "hear" their aspects, even the sorts of transits they are having-- or, soon to have.

I welcome and LOVE LOVE LOVE it when people want to tell me their stories.

Now, I "understand" when you're late, and trying to take last moments to 'prepare' and be focused for a meeting or presentation you need to be 'up' for. So, that's a reason to let a person talk a bit, but then TELL them (boundary) that you need 'prep' time?

Dual.... Sounds like you have some Quality people who want to converse! ... You never know IF those people could be a Key Person for some Networking in the future??? ..

I have met (in my past) some Outstanding people with whom I'd swapped cards, whom I saw later turned out to be famous in their circles. And (this one) kept contact with me for years!! (He passed away since.)

Ever think that The Universe makes "random' people talk to you, in order to give you important information you might need some day??

Tsk! ... Tell Saturn not to "work" so hard. Let some of the boundary line down, lower the wall a bit--- and Let your Venus have some quality contacts and interesting company in your life?!! As you grow older, you'll realize how Important and Rich your Relationships now, might be to you.

Some things are appreciated, using hindsight, that applying foresight NOW -- to "take" the time, and smell the roses (talk to various people) -- can bring you such Pleasure on the Longer Walk of Life.

Oh, Is your Saturn in your 11th, or the 12th?

Saturn in the 11th is good for attracting seniors, and 'Community Builder' type of associations and network.

Would you maybe think that (your own) Saturn 11th is causing you to 'feel' as though you'd want to hold tight boundaries and shun others from conversing?

Do you realize that some people pay "MONEY" to be in meetings where they can talk with some of these!! ROFL
