Hi! so I have been delving into Chinese zodiac signs and discovered that I'm a snake..more specifically a fire snake. Do Scorpio and snake have any similarities? Also any differences? I notice that the Chinese ox is quite a bit like Taurus...anyway give me feedback. Thanks!

My Knowledge is this.....November born Scorpio is the equivalent of the Chinese Pig..... while May born is the Snake. April born are equal to the Dragon...

In general snakes and pigs are opposite and not a good match.... they go by 'trine' signs....

Note - in Chinese astrology there is an Ascendant, moon and basic sign.

I'm pig with Snake Rising and a Dragon moon.

Remember how I was saying snake/pig combo isn't good.... well with this aspect.... the Snake rising makes it a little bit compatible with the pig.....

Maybe a Snake with Pig rising would also work that way.

Snake and Pig are polar opposites. While, yes, in general, they wouldn't get on well because they're so different, It's not so cut and dry. I think of it more as completion - one has what the other lacks and vice versa, and so long as there is understanding and mutual respect, it can be a very harmonious friendship.

Most descriptions I've read of the Chinese Snake describe them almost as if they were sociopaths. Charming, charismatic, seductive, cold, uncaring - penchant for using people, only in it to get what they want, no real attachments. Preferring self preservation above all else. Homme/Femme Fatale type.

I think of those descriptions as very basic, cookie-cutter and not really understanding the snake very well. Same can be said as most very superficial descriptions of western astrology signs.

Some years ago I got a book written by a woman who mixed up western astrology signs and Chinese to come up with new descriptions of them. I don't have the book on me at the moment, but I'll post what it says on Scorpio-Snake later when I get it back. (Been months since they haven't returned it!)

A fundamental difference that I can note between the Snake and Scorpio, and this is simply superficial at best, is that Scorpio is more interested in extreme depth and trust in a relationship, complete merging of body and soul and destruction and transformation though bonding and sex.

According to what many say about the Snake, however, is that they are more interested in their own livelihood, and would never really trust anyone, and would think of more practical things like money instead of soul-transformation. More about bank-account transformation.
They very much do like financial security - even abundance, and like to have many fine things and a lovely home.

With that, I think that the Snake's western counterpart would actually be more like Taurus.
Taurus, possessing the suspicion of their opposite, Scorpio, though being much more practical, self-disciplined and finance oriented. Taurus enjoys comfort and wants stability. None of that "transformational" nonsense for them, tyvm! This is also very much like the Snake.

The snake is refined, and really, they do know how to seduce and can be the sexiest person in the room. Scorpio is similar in this way. Very magnetic. Sometimes the snake can embody one of the 7 deadly sins, lust, and make everyone, married or not, swoon for them and get trapped in their silky, smooth coil. Think of the snake singing to Mowgli in the Jungle Book.

I'm Snake as well, and while most descriptions are superficial, I have found I am capable of many things described as being Snake characteristics. Though while some might say the snake is a gold digger, I can't say the same for myself. I pride myself on being able to do what I need to do for me, and being able to take care of myself. Though, this could also be part of the manifestation of the snake's distrust in others. Perhaps there are others out there who marry or get with others for financial security (many do, not just snakes) or to just be taken care of. But I think, fundamentally, even if a Snake is with someone for practical financial reasons, underneath that they're probably still very independent, and should they need to, would be willing to earn their bread on their own. So not so much about leeching, as simply opportunistic.

I've known many other snakes as well, and what I can actually say about them is that for the most part, even though they can be pretty solitary, they're simply sweet, and a little shy. They're calm, pretty non-violent. They do possess in big or small quantities basic characteristics of snakes. They love to learn, love to read, because learning and information is power for them - power to keep them safe, and even keep safe people they love. And the truth is, from what I've gathered, part of the reason they're so distrustful and suspicious, is because they're actually really sensitive. Many Snakes are, anyway. I can't speak for every single one, but they'll often just suspect someone's intentions are impure until proven otherwise, because a large part of them understands that some people are nasty, and will use them and hurt them. While it may seem more simple and cut and dry to talk of the snake as simply being a cold-blooded, opportunistic seductive fatale, it just ain't all that. Underneath it all they would like meaningful friendships and romance, and they do search for it. Hence their inquisitive nature. They want to know if you could potentially be someone who wouldn't hurt them as they suspect all people to be interested in doing. They get that all humans have a darkness, and try to find the people with the least darkness, or at least a darkness compatible with theirs, so that they are protected - much like a snake who hides in a hole/in the grass because they know if they come out they'll be hurt. They do have a gooey center, it's just hard to see.

For reference:
The Rat Chinese Zodiac sign is equivalent to Sagittarius.

The Ox Chinese Zodiac sign is equivalent to Capricorn.

The Tiger Chinese Zodiac sign is equivalent to Aquarius.

The Rabbit Chinese Zodiac sign is equivalent to Pisces.

The Dragon Chinese Zodiac sign is equivalent to Aries.

The Snake Chinese Zodiac sign is equivalent to Taurus.

The Horse Chinese Zodiac sign is equivalent to Gemini.

The Sheep Chinese Zodiac sign is equivalent to Cancer.

The Monkey Chinese Zodiac sign is equivalent to Leo.

The Rooster Chinese Zodiac sign is equivalent to Virgo.

The Dog Chinese Zodiac sign is equivalent to Libra.

The Pig Chinese Zodiac sign is equivalent to Scorpio.
---

Note how Snake + Pig are polar opposites, and so are Taurus and Scorpio. Scorpio and Taurus are usually very attracted to each other.

Lala thank you so much for your contribution. I feel that I am on an exciting new journey contemplating on the ways of my snakish characters and nature. I really am excited and can't wait to see what will eventually happen. From what I understand so far snakes are supposed to get very lucky with money and I can't wait to see what is in store for me. The good finances part...is it true?

Sagical is correct. The Snake is the equivalent of Taurus. The Pig is the equivalent of Scorpio. The Ox is the equivalent of Capricorn.

I love people born in the year of the Snake. They tend to be very sweet, refined and straightforward.

Finally got my book returned to me!

I thought about writing it all up, but figured that'd take forever.... So, I just took pictures instead. (from book The New Astrology) Take with a grain!

Given that Scorpio is known to be magnetic and quite sexy, and that the Snake is seductive, I do wonder how you impact others and if they by chance find you irresistible if you turn on your charm? ;D

My Mom was born in the year of the Snake, has Mars in Scorpio and Moon in Aslesha nakshatra (the snake constellation). She is a narcissist, albeit a covert one.

@Lala

I don't know of a good Vedic website, so I select Sidereal on astro.com and make a note of the degrees and signs of the planets. Then I just look them up and see which vedic constellation they are in . For example, my 0 degree Virgo Moon in Tropical astrology becomes a 6 degree Leo Moon in Vedic, and that's in Magha Nakshatra pada 2.

I think you misunderstand. I wanted to know if there were any similarities and differences between scorpio versus snake, basically compare and contrast the two. Lately I've been digging further in the Chinese spectrum ...so I think there might be atleast a little similarity but not too much.
