Hello!

A friend of mine has a brother who wants to make a living by forming his own band and giving a performance as well as writing songs for singers.
I know him since he was a child, and I know he has a lot of talent for music.
He has had many gigs at local clubs as a solo artist and he has had a very good reputation and he has even local fans.

However, so far none of his music career has been going well.

For example, every time he tried to make his own new band, he got emotionally hurt by the applicants. Like, when he auditioned a guitarist for example, this guitarist started scolding him or speaking ill of his songs during the audition.
He emotionally got hurt by this guitarist.
This kind of really twisted situation has kept on happening to him.

As for his music, even though he has many fans at the local clubs, his demos haven't got passed by any record rebels. They simply ignored his demos. He, his friends, his fans, and of course I don't know why this happens.

On the other hand, he is a PhD student and his academic career doesn't seem to have any problems. So far it's been going well, even though it's not something he wants to do..

We all believe he should become a professional musician and he should make a living by his music, because his music is something deep and something that gives audience energy and hope for life.

The situation, however, seems to force him to give up music career and make a living by academic career, which he doesn't want to accept (nor do we).

Which part of his chart do you think indicates this complicated situation?

And if you have any advice for him, please let me know. I would really appreciate it, because he started hating his own life and is sooo depressed now. He is very sensitive and we are
afraid that he might do something bad for himself....

Please don't quote.

This is his chart.

Your friend and I are similar. We both have Mercury /Mars/Moon Tsquare. With Mars joining Moon and Mercury

Moon square Mars-This aspect is the "fight or flight" aspect.

Its a prickly aspect that suggests that the individual may either react aggressively to an affront whether intended or not(fight) or hide away and pretend everything is ok whilst saying "I don't want to talk about it"(flight)

Mercury square Mars- Either the individual perceives others opinions (mostly of disapproval) as cutting. Or they themselves have a very sharp tongue. Or both.

The result is often that feedback that they get from others is met with defensive walls. Not the ideal candidate to audition for Idols , as this aspect suggests that the native may shoot back when criticised by Simon or any other judge(even if the criticism is constructive) or just walk out!

Saturn square Jupiter(wide orb)- To me, Jupiter rules self-confidence and esteem. And with Saturn widely square Jupiter, believing in one's own abilities is tough. The individual tends to internalize the failures/take them very personally and understate their successes.

I call this aspect the "i hear voices in my head and they tell me I will amount to nothing" aspect. So these guys push to be OUTSTANDING and nothing less.

If not, they can get severely depressed until they learn to measure what they can achieve in a more practical light.

And that's really what Saturn wants to do. Saturn says " measure the goals against what is practical. Do the groundwork thoroughly first and then climb up"

Moon conjunct South Node in Libra- He may fall back on passive "woes me,why is everyone so mean to me?"
tendencies.

The need to be supported/liked and have people approve(Libra) is a safe comfort zone(Moon) that he is long familiar with(South Node)

This is not altogether a bad thing as it also suggests that he can easily access his emotions and become receptive i.e charming, agreeable, creative etc.

Its just that, he has to learn to press the "off" button when others don't reciprocate. And believe in ones own initiate(Aries) instead of waiting for people to encourage him to all the time(Libra)

The North node in Aries also suggests that his spiritual quest may be to learn to "go at it alone" and just do it. He will make mistakes for sure. But there is much to be gained from that sense of self direction.

The opp from the Moon suggests that he may many times feel unsupported. And the square from Mars points to some struggle in being heard. Even physical hardships

Mars conjunct the Mc- There is possible success in playing small gigs or "last minute" acts. So he shouldn't pass that up as this conjunction suggests that he is at his element when things are improvised/unplanned or "ad hoc". This aspect suggests an energetic "raw" expression that may be his signature style.

I think he may be his own worst critic and the added comments he gets externally is perhaps a sample of seemingly regurgitated affirmations he has heard from within?

Chiron in Gemini can get into a loop if a thought is negative. And what positive things others can say can't turn that around.

The key is to start with affirmations that soothe i.e "I am getting better" , " I am doing this my way", "Maybe not all people will agree. But i have a selective audience", " I feel awesome doing this".

And with the 3rd house cusp in Cancer, emotions influence thoughts and vice versa.

Mercury conjunct Pluto suggests that words can have a profound impact on his outlook. So he should consciously shield himself from naysayers.

There is so much to say on this chart. Really rich chart. But i think I have written so much already lol. I will stop here

@MoonMystic

Thank you so much!
He used to play the piano with singing as a solo artist, but he shifted his music style to something that needs some instruments (namely, the band style).
Maybe he should be more confident in his former music style.
I told him about it, and he said "ohhh I don't want to do it alone" etc.

@Aries23Degrees

Thank you very much!
Your analysis is an eye-opener!!
I talked to him last night and told him what you wrote including affirmations.
He doesn't know anything about astrology, so I just let him know your analysis and your advice.
He was quite astonished!!!
Can you guess what's happening to him now?
It seems he is very motivated now!

Aries23Degrees, can I ask you a question?
This is not related to his current situation, but something I have been curious about.
He was raised up by very religious and spiritual parents (his deceased mother was a spiritual healer,a psychic and a nurse and his father was kind of her follower/believer).
They wanted to have a baby for a long time.
They asked God to give them a baby, and if He did that, they would make the baby a monk or something related to religion/spiritual healer in return.
They were so desperate at that time.
Then soon after that he was born.
His mother considered him a gift from God, but she didn't think he should become a monk or anything like that if he didn't want to. She believed that God wouldn't force people to do anything they didn't want to.

His father, however, sometimes mentions this whenever he is in a bad situation, like, "you are in a bad situation because you haven't become a monk yet. You should become a monk as soon as possible" etc.

In short, what his father says always makes him angry, annoyed and irritated. He has a very bad relationship with his father (he doesn't talk to his father anymore)

What I want to ask you is.... does his chart indicate that it would be good for him to become a monk or something like that at some point in the future?
His mother always told him that he didn't have to become a monk because his music encouraged and supported people emotionally already, which a monk would be expected to do as some kind of a job.

What do you think? What could you say about this astrologically?

For me the monastery is about searching for God. Everyone has their way of doing it in everyday life.Even though there seems to be a stringent method( from my view) as to how an institution like a temple for Monks would go about it.

So the birth chart would show the method one would prefer(I think). But not dictate as to whether or not one is "suited " for a life of discovering Godhead. Because i think we all are-in our own respective ways.

Is he suited for a life of minimalism, devotion, duty, sacrifice, self denial and humility? That Stellium of Sun/Moon in 6th gives me hope.

It suggests one whom can devote themselves to a life of living up to an ideal.Pluto in 6th especially is an all or nothing approach to that. Approaching things from a professional standpoint and wanting to do them in a deeply meaningful way.

This may not happen now when young. But perhaps when older and one feels that life "as is" lacks purpose, direction or personal fulfillment etc. I see that turning point as Moon/Mars square and Mars/Pluto square.

It will be challenging. Moon/Mars square is touchy and Mars/Pluto in 6th fights with the authority and can be strongly puritanical. And with a life in the Monastery with other mere mortals, there could be some initial disillusionment when they tell him to "do as I say and not as i do".

Many people who devote themselves to a life similar to that are often caught off guard with how they still are confronted with everyday issues of power struggles, greed, sexual promiscuity, alcoholism etc. The key here is to remember that the life is for your own self and sense of sanctity. Not others.

This rude awakening i.e expectations vs reality is Saturn square Jupiter. Both how he evaluates himself and how he evaluates others.

So those views/people he holds in high regard, may disappoint him or have him rethink. Whilst those he held in disregard, may be uplifted.
