Meaning that they instantly want to prove themselves around you, become more aggressive around you and others when you're around, display more bravado, and act kind of envious? Is it moreso what's in your chart, or an aspect activated between you and another person.

I get along pretty well with everyone and like to stay in my own lane and mind my business, but I sometimes deal with people who like to compete with me on everything, like I asked for it. Often times, I'm actually bewildered by what's happening because with moon Venus trine you'd think it would be easier.

In synastry, this happens to me when there's a Sun / Mars conjunction going on, on either side.

In general, though, people who have Mars in the 1st, like me, might come off this way to others.. when we're really just super enthusiastic, not trying to prove anything Aries moon, or a lot of fire in general, which I also have, can also come off that way.

The instances where I've experienced it in others, though, have all been Virgo Suns (conjunct my Mars), or Sag Mars (conjunct my Sun). But I don't think Virgo or Sag is competitive in general, just the synastry added this INTENSE energy between us, like we probably weren't even competing deep down but we just provoke each other to be louder, showier, etc.

And then there was someone who I DID feel like competed with me, on a deep level, like I felt like she was slowly trying to take over my friends and identity. and I still can't figure out why that happened lol

I do feel something symilar,
The other day I got myself a phone, so I would go to a store to by me a "chip".
So I did not say much to the girl sitting in front of me, but when she told me "system failure" and stuff, I did not really believe her. So "I acert myself in my chair", and soon after I get my chip.

Mars/Moon aspects
Mars/Merc aspects
Mars/Venus aspects
Mars on the angles(esp conjunct the 7th)

Mars has a competive streak. You can find them competing with you even without knowing it.

My cousin is Aries Sun and when we were younger, he had to win in everything. Which was really annoying.

I have Aries stellium and Mars in 10th. I'm always competitive haha!, in a healthy dose and if I know I will be able to win.
