What impact does having planets tightly conjunct (and parallel) the ascendant have on that individual?Specifically, one of my friends is a sagittarius rising. He has a solid birth time, and absolutely fits some elements of the descriptions available for sagittarius rising individuals (particularly Kannon's reference on his site, for example). But inherently though, he is introverted by nature. He warms up and has that classic Sag Rising sparkle in the eye when he smiles, but some elements of his 'mask' and appearance are absolutely not typical, I'd say. He has uranus very tightly conjunct the ascendant (within 30 minutes), 12th H side; jupiter conjunct by 5 degrees 1st H side; and Jupiter, Uranus and Neptune all parallel the ascendant. I can't see any other obvious links, apart from his sun, mercury and saturn conjunction very closely semi-sextile the Asc (1 deg) - but I don't know how much validity that might have as an aspect. Anyone have any insight into how outer planets so tightly on the ascendant would impact the rising persona? IP: Logged |

While it is true that Neptune leans one towards introversion when conjunct/parallel Asc (or even opposite/CP or square it), that is not true for Uranus and Jupiter. However, if Neptune is the tightest aspect to the Asc that could be your explanation. If such qualities are prominent in his personality, then it is a good bet as a rectification factor.I'd have to see the chart to really comment more intelligently. It is a more complex proposition than just what is assumed near the Asc, because it could also relate to what is going on elsewhere in the chart (Moon, aspects, sign dominance, etc). It can depend heavily on the exact Moon position and indicators tied to that about how he came in (soul history). Also I'm at a disadvantage not knowing anything about him other than eyes sparkle when he smiles. That does not guarantee Sagittarius rising. ------------------ Soul Stars Astrology - by the declinations guy Declinations: because the planets move north and south of the celestial equator IP: Logged |

Thanks Kannon - I guessed it wouldn't be as simple as that!Moon is in Leo, quindecile the Asc. The sun, Merc, Saturn stellium is in Scorpio - I guess that could be enough to 'explain' the introversion, with Sagittarius SN, too. Lookswise, he has something of a young Joe Biden look going on. It's a real headscratcher. When I first saw him as a Sag rising I was completely thrown - but it makes more sense with a richer understanding of the rising signs.
Definitely worthy of a proper rectification, but I don't have enough detail to pursue that at the moment. Thought I'd throw it out here tho as a starter for ten, as the role of the Ascendant is so intriguing to me 😊 IP: Logged |
