Of course, many would say this about themselves....

But, how do you feel as an Aqua MC?

Wouldn't this make someone more social though? Aquarius is a friendly sign that is about groups of people, so I would think the MC being there makes someone more social and upbeat in terms of their career. If they aren't social, I would think this makes them very easily attracted to by others as they come off as very group-oriented colleagues. Aquarius MC probably has a dependency on others helping them in career matters which I suppose could make others find them to be socially inept/off-track at times, as they seem to not know how to fend for themselves in certain situations.

A friend of mine has this. I do not think she is odd at all. We both have Gem ASC, I'm Pisces MC though. She is quirky but not odd. She practices tarot more than me, which some people might find to be an odd hobby.

I have Aquarius mc, north node, and mars here.

Yes I can be very friendly and upbeat.
It only seems like my earth mars friends and family members seem to find me off beat. But they still love me anyways.

@Cap Well, I didn't say not liking to be social. And I don't think, imo, odd or offbeat necessarily means inept. But you did say they're quirky, so that answers that in a way.

My boyfriend is an Aqua rising. He is quite content in being an individualist. He wears what he wants to despite what others think, such as his fedora. He gets along with people really well and is really easy to talk to. So I wouldn't say that he is socially odd. I think his Pisces sun helps him easily relate to people of all types and backgrounds.

Aquarius in the 10th with Saturn thrown in there as well.

I also have a Scorpio stellium.

My libra moon balances things out sort of so although I'm very off beat and socially awkward, I can hang with the "cool kids" too when the occasion calls for it.

Uranus is also in my 9th sextile my Sun, squaring my moon, and quintile my mercury so my upbringing was never traditional or socially acceptable.

My first language is English, but I grew up speaking both Spanish and English.

My mercury is also retrograde in Scorpio along with Cancer ruling my 3rd to top it all off so I am very sensitive to my environment and being in the company of other people.

I get stressed out and sweaty in awkward situations sometimes although I hide all of this VERY well.

You would never know unless I told you and even then you might not believe it.

I'm most comfortable one on one in a comfy warm place vibing to some tunes.

I'm offbeat in the sense where I don't really know how to keep up with small chit chat people have in every day life.

It's weird and I really don't know how to describe it, but I'm so not good at small talk. It makes me uncomfortable and nervous.

Exactly this. I think many misread Aqua MCs. It's good to see it from your perspective, though.

Aqua midheaven may not follow the mainstream. Always drawn to the eccentric and eclectic would make them odd.The placement of the scientist

Leo Ic has them progressively stay true to who they are the older they get. Sort of like they "discover" their true selves later in life and feel like life has just begun.

Old women/men who feel young at heart and age backwards.

Interesting! A lot of people tell me I come across as Leo. It’s the only placement I have besides s.node Leo.

Yes I get told that I am awkward! I’ve been called a dork.
My bf says when I’m in a good mood I’m a dork, but when I’m in a bad mood, I’m like a moody teenager. 😆

If I’m in a social situation and I don’t know a lot of people I will still put myself out there and talk to people. Even if I act really awkward.
One thing that makes me cringe a lot. Seeing people in social situations on their phone! Not interacting with anyone....? It’s also just a bad first impression. I understand that social situations are hard sometimes, but that’s what alcohol is for. Jk! (Kinda)

Or at least push yourself to socialize before being on your phone! I’ll sometimes be on my phone later but I make sure it’s not somebody’s first impression of me.

That is just cringe for me, but I’m sure me attempting to socialize is cringe for others to watch sometimes! Lol

My boyfriend is the type to be on his phone if he doesn’t really know anyone. It’s so embarrassing! He does it around his family too though. So I try not to take it personally.
I’ve let him know I frown upon it though. Being on the phone so much is a solitary activity. You’ll have solitary time later not now. He was on his phone for an ice cream date...I blurted out “what is so god damn important?!” He was on reddit.

I will say, for my niece’s bday he socialized a long time before looking on his phone.
The nanny’s husband was sitting looking on his phone basically as soon as he got there.

@Strawr

I understand EXACTLY what you mean about the phone issue! People don't realize how dumb it makes them look in those situations. You're basically disconnecting from the present and going somewhere else when you're doing that with other people where you should be present.

I had some friends I knew back before smartphones blew up. Then, one day, we'd planned a small reunion. We hadn't seen each other for a LONG time, mind you. So, we go into a cafe, I'm talking to them and then one says "hold up got a text!" And then she spent nearly the remainder of our meeting on her phone. And I was like (as she was on her phone. "So, how's so and so?" And she was like "uh, yeah, fine." Like a half assed dead answer. And the other friend, well, she took a cue from the first and was like "welp I don't wanna just chat all alone so I'll go on my phone, too 8D!"

Meanwhile, I had a phone, and avoided using it. How pathetic would it have looked if all three of us, after not seeing each other for so long, just decided to whip out or phones, grunt at each other, and then leave saying "it was nice seeing u "

And it's a vicious cycle because I think part of what makes people addicted is because they're not getting their needs met in the present, in real bonding situations, so they keep filling that social void with their phone - ignoring what's going on around them.

And I think what also happens is that, there might be people who REALIZE that this is an actual problem in social situations - but what do you do when all of your friends have their heads down and aren't fully present or engaged? That person will also have a social bonding void, and will also need to be like everyone else, be on their phone, to get some engagement.

I also don't like wasting my time, and being with people who aren't making an effort to be present and not dissociate irk me a lot. If they don't get a handle on themselves and learn how and when it's appropriate to be on your phone, then essentially it becomes pointless to even spend time with each other. What's worse is when people try to use these emotionally driven excuses to back up their bad habit so they don't have to take responsibility and become more aware.

But it also says about them that they no longer have much awareness, or care for themselves, or others. Not about the time and effort others take, and don't even value themselves enough to be present. And then you've got parents who push phones onto their little kids... I wonder what the next generation will be like....

I know some Aquarians (without MC) who also really hate this. It's the exact opposite of friendship or bonding or really doing something meaningful with the people around you.

They say no screen time for children until the age of two. That can be very hard for parents.

My sister limits my nieces tv and pad time. Well today when I came over there her time was up and my Aquarius niece got so mad she threw the iPad. So time out and that made her wail and scream even more. Look a while to reason that throwing an iPad could break it. Lol

But the cell phone generation is also the instant gradifacation generation. With internet we can basically get any answer, song and show. Delayed gradifacation will be harder for these kids.

@stawr and Lalafortunae

You are both on point about this annoying cellphone thing.

Some restaurants even ban cells and have "talk to each other. Socialize" placards on their walls Its insane.

Aquarius also speaks of the tendency for one to project emotion on to an object or machine.

The next generation will have sex dolls instead of boyfriends/girlfriends, virtual hangout spots instead of restaurants etc.

And instead of getting to know whom the other is fully,we will just want to take the good bits. The photo shopped virtual parts.

Aquarius rules fast foods and conveniences
So I do see instant gratification being the staple social necessity in generations to come.

There are Aqua midheaven/Asc/Moon/Sun people who form part of the wave to continually inundate this life with technology and all those conveniences that come with it.

But then there are also other Aquarius people who are vehemently against technology being used as a necessary backbone to existence.

The former will be seen as "progressive" or "genius". Whilst the latter will be seen as " weird" and "eccentric" by not wanting to conform etc.

@Stawr. What house is the Sun?

aqua MC, Uranus in the 7th house Sagittarius sextile MC. Jupiter in Pisces square Uranus from 11th house.

I work in a science field. I tend to get involved with the misfits. I value freedom and go absolutely batty if I am pushed into a rigid social structure - ultra sensitive to any kind of dogmatic behavior, I often confront it, which tends to make me unpopular with the types that derive satisfaction and comfort from certainty and status quo, no matter the cost.

Although it is best to address those topics with humor. Satire is choice. Some Sinclair Lewis or Aldous Huxley, maybe, but Mark Twain is a favorite.

I'm never sure how to respond to these kinds of questions. It seems strange to me that Aquarius seems to be the only sign that people talk about as being different and socially odd. Perhaps Aquarians are, but surely there are other signs that are like this. For example, maybe Scorpio and Pisces?

In regards to the first post about many people saying they're different or socially odd, yes, I am one of those people, though I did not start out believing this about myself. As I grew up, my experiences led me to realize that I am different and the way I was treated when I was very young had a lot to do with me developing this opinion.

My chart has Saturn in Aquarius and this is the only Aquarius placement I have. Saturn squares my Sun in Taurus. Uranus makes a trine with my Sun.

That Sun in 11th has an Aquarius feel about it.

Either ones identity(Sun) is strongly tied to ideals (11th). One joins a group /organization to further a cause they feel necessary to their existence.

Self expression is heightened through joining a cause or group.

On the other hand, one may preclude themselves from groupthink or groups, individuating themselves and being a one man band who wants to live outside peer influences or mass consciousness.

Both positions however do point to an individual who is an independent thinker at heart.

Even in the former instance, one may reach a point where her ideals/ideas no longer fit the group that she has joined, then she has to disengage.

Also, humanitarian and needs to be around groups of people? They desperately want to integrate, resorting to interviewing people rather than there being a natural Flow. That’s what led me to asking about awkwardness, in the title. It’s like they make all the effort and need to satiate their curiosity.
PS i am basing this on 1 person who of course has other aspects going on. That’s why I would like other opinions even if theories get blown away
