I asked my boyfriend the other day what he thought my personality was and one of the comments he said was that I’m shy which kind of caught me off guard. I would describe myself as “reserved” rather than shy. I was definitely shy when I was younger mainly because of my speech impediment.

I have made great efforts over the last few years to put myself out there in uncomfortable situations. I like meeting new people and can usually find common ground when I first meet them. I think how outgoing I am depends on my energy level, in typical introvert fashion. I’ve even had some people misclaim me as an extrovert.

As a child I always wanted to be an extrovert. I admired people who could easily make friends wherever they went and who were the life of the party. I always felt like more of the background, which I know is all in my head. I have more friends than I consciously admit. And at the end of the day I really do love being an introvert. But there’s a part of me who always feels somewhat disappointed that I’m not more outgoing/extrovert girl.

I guess my point is, even though I am a Leo Rising, I am still a reserved introvert. I’ve always thought of Leo’s and Leo Risings as big large forces of extroversion. I guess this isn’t the case for me ;-)

Does anything in my chart point to my introversion dominating my Leo rising? Does anyone else wish they were more one way instead of how they are?

You might be a cancer riser, our birth times are off sometimes and in your case since leo is rising at early degrees it could be off by not that much for you to have cancer rising.

BC honestly with IC in libra/MC in Aries and leo rising I would think you are extroverted.

HOWEVER! as a leo riser your chart ruler is SUN in pisces in the 8th! so perhaps the pisces/scorpio quiet shy private reserved energy is more of what people see.

I think you’re right about the chart ruler is in Pisces in the 8th house. I never thought about that. Inwardly I feel like a Leo rising but outwardly I appear Pisces/Scorpio. Thank you

Unless your mother/family is not death certain about your birthtime. And unless the country you are born in does not write down exact birth time on your birth certificate, you can certainly be a cancer rising.

I know of a leo sun, with cancer rising, also having his sun in 4th house. His leo qualities does not so detectable. He acts more like a cancer and is shy and easily wounded.

Hmmm. I was born at 3:40, and to make it a cancer rising I would have had to be born at 3:00. It seems like a pretty big range to make an error on.

Well polka you were born in the US and 3:40 sounds like they made an effort to be precise but I was born in the Dominican Republic on an island in the Caribbean LOL and my birth certificate says 12:00PM LOL I am pretty sure that is inaccurate. In my culture they can be very laid back about stuff like that and since most people are not into astrology like we are, just sun sign astrology, most people don't understand the importance of recording a precise birth time. I had to rectify my chart.

And lo and behold, yep, Pisces. On top of that, in secretive Scorp's house. You can 99% guarantee that strong Piscean traits in someone's chart will make someone more introverted, unless there is something equally strong fighting it.

Do you feel your energy gets drained around people? I do and I contribute that to Neptune aspecting to my asc.

My friend also has a Leo rising and share similar aspects to her ascendant as you. She doesn't initiate conversations with people, but she is very friendly when people do. People impression of her if not spoken to her is: reserved, shy, quiet, and can be intimidated for those reasons but once you start talking to her, you feel you can put your guard down. She looks like a day dreamer too or just strolling so it soften her Pluto aspect. (Neptune inconjunct asc, Pluto sq. asc). She has Jupiter trine asc and she smiles a lot when she talks and also gets dramatic with her expression (I think this is the Leo rising in her too). Her MC is in Aries and I see that fiery flare in her. She can be bubbly and tries to be your friend. She has this mixture of outgoing and reservedness to her. I say there is a balance. Not over the top, or too under (is there such saying haha).

Definitely because of your Sun in the 8th house!
I should know that because I have Libra rising and have my sun in the 8th house. My friend who’s also Libra rising has her Sun in the 7th house and boy can you see the difference between us when meeting new people!

Thats not a large range at all! My mother remembered the wrong birthtime with all of her 4 children. She was off by 2 hour with all of us!

Most of the mothers I know of is wrong by 1-2 hours. Its only certain if its a hospital where birth time is written in the certificate
Or if the mother really looked at the time conciously thinking about noting the time.

I know Leo risers that are not outgoing and I am a Leo Sun w/ 8th H Sun with Pisces Moon and definitely not a outgoing person, I even have Sag ASC although Saturn is parallel.
Definitely agree with your chart ruler - Sun in Pisces being in the 8th H adding to a less outgoing demeanor in that 8th H sun individuals are naturally skeptical of people. WE don't take people at face value and my first impression of someone is usually right aka "phony" or bat Sh@t crazy So I'm often guarded due to this.

Jupiter opposite Asc in Leo is pretty reliable for a degree of extoversion -- but still the tight cluster of Sun-Mercury-Moon in Pisces could explain it if you are marginally introverted.

I definitely feel like a Leo rising because I am a very optimistic person. 99% of the time I see the silver lining. I am always smiling. It’s easy to get me to laugh. I love looking nice and put together. I do not and could never dress frumpy. Yuck yuck. So I have those Leo qualities. But I am a rather humble person. I am not vain, self absorbed, or like to be the center of attention.

When I feel outgoing I can be super talkative and easy to work the room. But I have to be in the right mindset. Most of the time I like to people watch, study people’s interactions, and I get some pretty big vibes on people. I can usually tell when couples are unhappy but put on a front. I can tell when someone is putting on a front of being happy but they really aren’t. I guess that’s the water sign in a water house.

I am also a Leo Rising. I wouldn't describe myself as shy, but definitely quiet and reserved.

I am an Aries Sun conjunct Mercury in the 8th House
Scorpio moon <> Pisces Venus <> Mars in Aquarius

I think having Jupiter in Virgo in the first house modifies my Ascendant. I also have Chiron in Leo in the 12th House.

Do you have any placements in the 1st or 12th house?

I see Aquarius often can denote
The loner. Even an introvert sometimes.
Your Jupiter is in Aquarius. That would
be my guess. As well Uranus in Jupiter's
sign, Sagittarius. You may well randomly
be social or introverted. Maybe?

Also having both your sun+Moon in pisces,
you probably prefer being in your own
space. The Pisces I've known were social
but really enjoyed being alone with their
music and art type concepts.

I am an artist, painter, and a photographer, I love music and can get lost in it.
I hadn’t thought about the Jupiter Aqua and Uranus in Sagittarius. Interesting! I’ll have to look more into that...
