My 7th house ruler Saturn will exactly conjunct my 1st house ruler the Moon in Capricorn on April 7th and I was wondering if the potentially depressing and sad part of a Saturn-Moon conjunction might be mitigated since Saturn and the Moon are my 7th and 1st house rulers respectively.

It sounds like there could be a significant relationships underway.

It could be a love connection, friendship or a closer connection with an already existing mate.

Saturn/Moon tends to sober one up on the whole and when ruling the 7th, the connections one makes are quite serious in essence.

You could grow more inhibited & shut people out. The challenge with Saturn influence is to let someone in.
