Is there anywhere I can find explanations for the degrees that are less...."Harry Potter" and more "2018"?

Probably not. Most symbol interpretations are very outdated and therefore very "Harry Potter" ish in that they don't really have moralistic value to current times. The most recent I have ever heard of symbol interpretations have been from around the 70s or 80s (but even then I'm pretty sure those were just reworks/updates instead of a brand new modernized list). Best bet would be to just ignore the "Harry Potter" type interpretations and try to interpret them in a way that works for your life. That or just stay away from them, that's what I do lol.

This page pretty much explains why I don't care much for Sabian symbols. They have no historical backing, some random people just made them up in a few days without the use of numerology or anything of such importance and called it a victory. If you want degree interpretations, I'd prefer to just use fixed stars or numerology. No point in wasting time on sabian symbols. http://sabian.org/sabian_symbols.php

If you want modern, numerology is probably your best bet. I'd prefer the mix of fixed stars and numerology but I'm assuming you would hate the fixed stars interpretations too so just stick to numerology lol.
