I am a qualified massage therapist yes. I am also a qualified homeopath, applied kinesiologist and aromatherapist. I also do dry needling with my massage.

I had my chart read by Jewel. She informed me that I had placements you would find typically in a surgeon, as in someone who goes in and physically rips things out (kinesiology does this sort of, by removing energy blocks) as well as that of a nutritionist.

She also said my chart shows that I have the compatibility of a medical intuitive, which works well in my line of work.

Why do you ask?

Just curious because of the comment you made about how most MT only work for two years. I thought maybe you knew because you were one lol. Did you have to face time or Skype with her for the reading?

The 2 year remark was informed to the students studying massage. I can tell you now, I am a unicorn in the industry. There is always work for me and I get snapped up so quickly when I apply for work as MT's seem to retire from that line of work rather quickly after commencement. I'm only 1 of 2 females working as an MT from the class of 40.

She does her reading via Skype.

How long did it take you to complete the Massage program? Mine is 9 months long and the school helps the students with finding a job after completing the program. Did you make decent money right after graduating? A lot of people work in spa to gain more experience right out of school. I just want to make enough so that I can have my own place. Even if that means living with a roommate.

Mine was a 12 month full time course.

What they dont teach you in massage school, is FIRST, we are in a sales focused position, SECOND we are Massage Therapists. I work along side Chiros and Physios as I don't like working in spas. Spas are were I enjoy going to so I can't work in one.Plus I'm more into the biomechanics of the human body than doing fluffy treatments.

No I didn't make heaps of $$$ as soon as I started working, I had to build it up. Takes about a year and even then you still have your slow days. I work as a contractor, so I get a 60% cut, amd they can't tell me what to do when I'm not treating, so a lot of flexibility and pretty much my own boss which I have to be with my personality.

This just works better for me. Some people take full time employment but you're working for half the money for peace of mind. Not worth it to me.

If I want sometimes I work as a mobile MT, e.g soothe, (I didnt work for them though) and make $100.00 per job when not in clinic, like when I was home bored on at night I'd go make some cash.

Buy dont expect to be raking it in from the beginning because it takes experience and the know how to rebook amd keep them coming back.

I know everybody's situation is different I don't have any kids and I'm single. So I would probably make enough income to sustain myself. Most people recommend working as an employee right out of school. For Soothe or any other mobile massage company are you an independent contractor? And do you have to go to the client?

Oh I see that's one of the things I like about Massage is the flexibility. With Dental Assisting you don't have that. Bit I may decide to go back and finish later since I can just pick up where I left off. As for Massage wouldn't it be best to work as an employee at least for awhile? So that you'll have social security when you are older?

I'm in Australia, so I don't know how your system works. I just have a preference for contract. When your an employee and not treating, they make you do admin or cleaning, stuff that, I'll leave that for the employees instead
