There's a thread about placements that indicate a good memory, but I want to know the opposite. What placements would indicate a poor memory? How would this likely show up?My memory isn't the worst out there. I'm apparently healthy enough for my memory to not wreck my life. However, recalling things from memory tends to have mixed results for me. I have a very low success rate for memorizing anything, mostly because I'm better at using information that can be used rather than just simply memorized.
For example, I can use what I learn about astrology to interpret charts. This means I have memorized certain things about astrology and there's a point to having this knowledge.
On the other hand, there's not much I can do with a poem beyond just reading it and appreciating poetry as an art form, so it is very tough for me to memorize a poem as there is no practical application for which I would choose to memorize one.
In one of my Creative Writing courses, my professor had a couple memorization quizzes on the syllabus. I had to memorize short poems and I have no confidence that my grades on these quizzes would have been much better even if I had bothered to study them properly. I made a 10 on the first memorization quiz. The second memorization quiz I never took, because I dropped the course around the time of Neptune's opposition to my Midheaven.
My 3rd house is ruled by Capricorn and I have Saturn in 3rd house. Would these placements cause me to take longer to learn things and explain why I have an easier time learning practical information?
I'm not sure what my 3rd house being ruled by Capricorn and what Saturn in 3rd house would say about the quality of my memory in general. Does anyone have an interpretation for this? My memory is by no means as bad as it could be so I think maybe these placements just mean that my memory tends to work better over time as I put effort into learning something and gain experience from putting to use what I've learned to do things. Would anyone say this is true?
After a few years, I've forgotten large chunks of shows I've watched and things I've read as well, though I tend to remember characters from any medium of fiction even if I Forget everything else, and if I forget something I've read, I can usually find the information again. I'm also unable to remember how to get from Point A to Point B. My sense of direction is terrible. Even with the practical use that comes with knowing how to get to places, I'm somehow unable to memorize routes to locations that I don't go to a lot and road construction can throw me off and make me unable to get to my destination. I'm not good at being able to remember a lot of alternate routes and I just seem to learn best by doing. In practice, it's not possible for me to provide directions to any location either.
Overall, while I feel like my memory is healthy, it seems to be unusually easy for me to forget stuff. I think my short-term memory is terrible and my long-term memory is really good. Not everything in my long-term memory can be immediately accessed though.
