I don't know about "self aware". But I would say "one who always reflects on who they are".

Sun conjunct Ic
Ruler of the Ic in aspect to Sun
Leo on the Ic
Moon conjunct Ic
Ruler of the Ic in aspect to Moon
Cancer on the Ic

Lots of activity on the Ic i.e lots of aspects to the ruler or Ic itself. Or stellium of planets in the Ic.

These people can reflect on self a lot. They think about who they really are and are always wanting to get to that place of increased "self awareness"

Couldn't agree more with what Aries said

I have Sun in 4th (Pisces)
Saturn in 4th (Pisces)
Moon conjunct Mercury with them both conjunct IC from 3rd (Aqua)

Uranus (My IC ruler)

I am sort of obsessed with introspection and I think that's one reason I picked up astrology, I enjoy psychology and what makes people so different. I also am a Scorpio Rising which I believe intensifies myself to "dig deeper".

Ruler of my IC is sextile my Cancer moon. Aha!

I’m very big on self-reflection, specifically figuring out flaws in my personality and “correcting” them. This is why my personality changes a lot—every year, even.
Could Virgo on the IC indicate this too?

Call me judgmental or anything, but it sometimes bothers me to see people go through life being the same person they were when I met them years ago. To me, it means they haven’t grown. I’m also scared of this happening to me, which is why I always take the time to step back and assess myself in a very different perspective.

I wonder what placements indicate someone who does not take the time for self-reflection? I have a friend who’s in a relationship with another friend. Since they’ve started dating, he’s been constantly bending over for her, always finding ways to make her happy at the cost of his own happiness (Leo sun/mercury/venus, Scorpio moon, Libra mars). She seems to be the one that never changes, very stubborn, refuses to see her fault in the relationship (Taurus sun/mercury, Gemini venus, Leo moon, Aries mars).

I think in your case the friend with Scorpio Moon/Mars in Libra is doing all that because they are hoping for reciprocation.

Mars in Libra can do that. And Scorpio Moon is slow to smoulder or be territorial when in the company of less sensitive signs i.e Leo and Aqua. And can be surprisingly docile and cooperative for a very long time before exploding.

This would not be the case with a Pisces, Cancer,Tarus, Cap or Virgo Moon. They would expect the other moon sign to "get it". And thus pressurize reciprocity to be more forthcoming.

There is something immature about fire Moons and to some extent air moons(barring aspects from Pluto, Saturn or Neptune).

Yes Moon in Leo can be " self aware". But it does not mean "emotionally intelligent" And this is the "self aware" I think you mean.

Moon in fire can put expressing themselves and being who they are without being interfered with as absolutely pivotal.

This is self awareness that can be very self serving. Especially when the energy is Leo. It can be all about the self and how others answer to "Me".

Moon water is expression of who they are and taking into consideration the impact that has on others(which is more desirable in society).

This is what earns Cancer its more reflective and moody reputation. With Cancer its all about how I can answer to others i.e family, partner, friend etc"

The Aries Mars/Moon Leo of your Taurus friend makes the individual quite "I" focused. It can be very hard for them to see another point of view and have them act like a spoiled brat at times.

Your other friend must not indulge this as it will not be reciprocal. They(Aries Moon) demands attention but is not likely to give the same to another in the same manner that they demand it.

I see disaster.

From the outset it seems that way. But to me there is an inherent difference.

Mercury is the cerebral mind and that IMO does not change for emotions sake. But it adapts and changes to survive.

One can live in a new country for instance to survive(that is cerebral). But until one mixes with the culture and customs of people in that country, they are still doing it for "survival" sake. This is the rational mind(Mercury). It lacks emotion.

The emotional mind(Moon) is mergence (water) and facilitates change more from the shift of me vs them to "us". This is the emotional mind that wants to embrace the culture of the place one lives in.

The Moon thus connects with Cancer and finds Exaltation when in Jupiter " Embracing all people with an open mind ".

Mercury thus connects to Virgo (discrimination) & Gemini (versatility) and finds exaltation when in Uranus " universal union but individual detachment ".

The self aware Moon will say " how would I feel if another did this to me?"

The self aware Mercury will say "How would I survive if another did this to me?"

The former focuses on evolving as "us" whilst the latter on survival as an individual.

The reptilian part of our brain IMO is Mercury ruled as it is "kill or be killed" and has the tinge of Mars inherent.

When Martydom takes over, the Moon supersedes the influence of that part of us because it takes someone seeing others as part of self as survival.

So when one person "sacrifices" ones life, it is also an act of survival. But not of "I" the individual. But "we", the connection etc.
