I agree that 1st house placement can have a strong self interest or self reflective point of view to doing things. The Venus in 1st house person I knew was very much a social, easygoing person.
Most people would assume that he had something to gain for all his niceties. But not so. He is annoyingly nice. And I mean annoyingly so lol.
The 1st house cusp is "personality on doorstep" and is the unplugged, adhoc nature of the self.
How his Venus in 1st showed itself up was portraying a very "chilled" persona(1st). He hardly ever seemed to get ruffled as his first response to things is to stay objective and intellectual (Venus Gemini)
I have Aries as my Asc, my "doorstep personality" is instinctive. I respond to things quickly. If I am unhappy, it shows. Things are very much on the surface
I however,do take things a little more to heart(Aries). And with Mercury/Moon midpoint=Asc,I tend to speak(Merc)my emotions(Moon).
This "speaking my emotions" may make the natural person polarizing company to keep. But in my case even with Mars opp Asc, this is not so.
The reason being is Juno in Aries(I think). As Juno is the equivalent of Venus/Moon blended together. So it adds a softer "nurturing" edge to me speaking my heart.
I don't do it for others. I do it for myself (1st). And because of Juno, I win allies for my candour and honesty. Because its never about others, but always about me(Aries).
So I attract mates who often want to date me(Juno) because of my open, honest persona (Aries 1st house).
