Ever known anyone who states the obvious all the time? Are you one of them?

What do you think makes someone a Captain Obvious?

And.... What makes someone be a bit bothered by others who focus on the obvious or state it?

What makes someone the "No Sh** Sherlock!"?

Hi Lalafortunaea …

I've been on work teams before, where the answer was 'obvious' to me, so, I didn't state it. Then, NINE MONTHS later, someone came up with the 'brilliant' solution that I had already-seen and simply discounted it, because, it was 'obvious'.

Sometimes too... What is 'obvious' can also be very complicated to explain to others who cannot see it yet. You might have given them the solution, but they weren't prepared yet to 'receive' the nuance of what that answer entailed.

Communications are layered.
When others don't respond, then, Captain Obvious 'thinks' that others didn't hear him speak it.

Communications is a back-and-forth thing.

We sew our messages together. We can tailor the words that clothe various thoughts, when the messages are validated by the Other as in reflecting the image{message}-received in a mirror.

Of course too--
The written word is harder to communicate without honing the skills to that kind of craft. (I really admire people who can do that so succinctly!)

Person to person, in a room, sometimes just a second's glance, eye to eye, is sufficient to say 'yes, you've been heard and appreciated.'

Have a Great Day, and weekend!!

Reminds me too... of a time I had taken some classes in Microsoft Excel (spreadsheets). I was in a class that was WAY above my level. These were professional people who already were employed and using this package, and just wanted an 'update' to the latest version.

Anyways.. I was in the back row, taking everything that was being said, and seeing more the overarching 'pattern' of how Excel worked.

It was very late in the evening, and the class (and course) was wrapping up.

At one point, the instructor was showing 'how' to do a task. I raised a question. The others just 'ignored' me.

She decided to "prove" how what I said was "wrong-thinking"... and OMG!!! my idea WORKED.

Doing it my way, shaved off TIME and steps to doing the function.

Yay! … So. Don't discount the 'obvious' just-because the person isn't fully credentialed on paper, or has a hard time expressing their thoughts in the language that others throw around like jargon.

Sometimes someone 'out of the box' of the everyday, can see what you have and do, and make it even better for you.

Moon Virgo in the ninth-house... ?
sextile Uranus-Jupiter Cancer --
senses, intuits, and instantly chunk-analyzes (groks?????!! ..)
the Order of things being presented to the mind,
with knack for understanding Systems?

That's why I LOVE Astrology!!
And also why I LOVE comparative Religions H9...
After a while of steeping in cultures and atmospheres,
to take everything heard down to the Core Understanding, and work with the common-denominators.

tUranus in Taurus in my 5th house now,
and sextile my Mars Cancer 7th-gem.

tNeptune trines my Saturn-rx Scorpio and 8th House Cusp Cancer

Captains.. of our Space Ship Earth.
We need Obvious-thinkers to come forth --
The Earth, for the sake of the People on it, needing Answers.
{Many prayers...}

Of course, everything you say is true^

What I mean is someone who could, for example, be universally considered a Captain Obvious. Could be just that one person who has that tendency to an extreme.

Not so much about specializations. What's obvious to an Engineer won't be obvious to a Lawyer, and vice versa ~

It is kind of hard to get what you are asking because a "captain obvious" could be several things I feel. Do you mean like a know-it-all? or do you mean someone who just seems to always be a factoid machine and know things others don't? Or do you mean someone who just *gets* common sense situations better than most and that gets on people's nerves? I feel all three of these are different things which is why I don't really know how to answer your question yet.

If i understand correctly. I have the mild form of Miss Obvious. I get the "No sh*t" response, or why do you point out the obvious. To be honest I didn't know it was because these obvious things are details to me. So it was out of courtesy -- I bring things up in case someone wants to know and not be left in the dark. I can see from the 3rd person perspective it wouldn't matter and be seen as obvious. So Virgo screams in my head for Captain Obvious.

I have 1 personal planet and two outer planets in 6H but I do not consider it to be a stellium. My 3H cusp is Virgo in whole sign system.

I tend to help people dig deeper and look at things from a different angle they have not considered bf, I tend to help people expand their perspective. I am a virgo but Neptune squares my Sun and Uranus rules my 3rd house and conjuncts Jupiter my chart ruler. Mercury parallels my Pluto.

This is my idea of Captain Obvious

A: I'm so hungry!
B: It's because you didn't eat
A: Duh!

That's my mom -- i don't know her chart though. But there's all kind of Captain Obvious. She's more obvious about health. I am more detailed obvious instructions. I feel anyone can be in certain part of life.

Come to think of it.. Being Captain Obvious is about giving advice? Now my mind is mambo jambo

Oh so you mean somebody who is like: "You drink water so you don't die" or "turn at the dead end so you don't crash"?

I am think I am like that sometimes, very much pointing out "obvious" things to others . My Gemini ASC. My grandmother is worse though, and more annoying with it. She is Gemini sun, Taurus moon. I have another Taurus moon friend who acts like this, very much likes to point out the obvious in a bit of a sarcastic/demeaning voice. I don't know her ascendant, I assume Libra or Capricorn. It might be an earth sign thing? Or an air sign thing? Or BOTH in combination perhaps?

Haha, yes, similar to all that. And not just advice.

Even statements.

**while we're outside**
person 1: **talking about states of the sky**I like it when the sky looks pinkish.
person 2: but the sky today is blue

Or

Person 1: I wish I had some orange juice.
Person 2: *looking at clear bottle of water on desk with the word "water on label"*
That bottle is filled with water.
